The Once Promising Career of Jared Platt: What Happened? He Talks to Takedown

A superstar for Buxton's Blair Academy. He was highly recruited as an upper weight with NCAA Title potential. In the beginning he chose Penn State then changed his mind. He sought and was granted his release from then head coach Troy Sunderland. Then he went to Iowa Central with the thought of eventually wrestling at Iowa. Painful back issues became evident. Broken? yes, in 2 or 3 places. Platt goes back east and through his rehab becomes stronger and bigger.

New Head Coach of Penn State Cael Sanderson offers him a way back to college, this time due to NCAA restrictions there would be no financial assistance, no scholarship dollars at all. Dejected and low on funds he turned his back on his dreams, his college wrestling years and begins to train others, wrestling and MMA. One of Platt's goals was to get now UFC star, former PSU NCAA Champ Phil Davis ready for the fight of his life, His UFC Debut.

In our first interview with Platt since 2007 we take a look back at Jared's career in wrestling and what the future holds for one of the most promising athletes we never really got to know.
