Olympics Plan To Eliminate Wrestling For 2020 Games, Sign The Petition To Re-Instate The Sport

Dear friends of wrestling,

This horrible news for our sport broke last night and today.

The Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (through a secret balloting process) has moved wrestling from the list of 26 sports that will be in the 2020 Olympics onto a list of 7 sports of which one will be added to the 2020 Olympics.

The Executive Committee will vote for one on this list in May and then pass those recommendations on to the General Body of the IOC for a vote of approval in September in St. Petersburg.

The 7 sports are:

Baseball/Softball
Karate
Wakeboarding
Squash
Roller Sports
Wushu
Wrestling
This is a very scary and very real threat to our sport.

But the fight is not over and wrestlers never quit.  USA Wrestling is on top of this and will be sending out more info soon on TheMat.com.  Efforts will be organized with other countries to keep our sport in the Olympics. We need your help.

Fans, as you know Wrestling may potentially be eliminated as an Olympic sport.

 

There is a petition to sign on Change.org which asks the International Olympic Committee to keep the oldest sport where it rightfully belongs, as a core sport in the Olympic Games.
