Hernandez-Harrison will participate in the eight-round featured event (opponent to be announced) of a nine-bout fight card designed to showcase top rising talent from the Washington metropolitan area. The main event, along with selected preliminary bouts, will air over EPIX – marking the network’s first ever-live U.S.-based boxing production.Champion Class is sponsored by the Jordan Brand.
Champion Class is produced by All-In Entertainment, a Washington, D.C.-based boxing and entertainment promotional company founded by prominent local attorney and entrepreneur Jeff Fried along with partners Phil Ivey, the world’s greatest poker player and recent winner of his ninth World Series of Poker bracelet and NBA Milwaukee Bucks superstar, Monta Ellis. With Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist and District native Wale in attendance, the announcement was made at a news conference Tuesday afternoon at Founding Farmers Restaurant in downtown D.C.
“Dusty Hernandez-Harrison truly exemplifies the heart, spirit and future of boxing here in Washington, and throughout the industry,” said Fried. “ While we are still in the process of finalizing the card, rest assured that his opponent will pose a true test as Dusty continues to develop and learn in many ways what it takes to be a world champion, both in and out of the ring. Fact is all the bouts on our card will be quality matches.” In establishing Champion Class, and at the foundation of All-In Entertainment, is to present compelling match ups with competitors at equal levels of accomplishment in their respective careers, Fried said. "That is what the fans want, what they deserve and what is best for the sport of boxing."
Other fighters scheduled to appear include a pair of former National Golden Gloves Champions, Waldorf, Md. welterweight Mike Reed (1-0, 1 KO) and Baltimore, Md. featherweight Gervonta Davis (1-0, 1 KO), plus Frederick, Md. middleweight Devar Ferhadi (2-0, 2 KO’s) and light heavyweight Greg Newby (6-0, 4 KO’s), a U.S. Marine from Washington, D.C. "At All-In Entertainment we are about promoting the best fighters, distinctive events and providing memorable experiences for the fans. Dusty not only has the talent, but is prepared to give the effort needed to reach that unique championship level," added All-In partner Phil Ivey from Australia after winning his record ninth World Series of Poker Bracelet. "I spent 16 hours a day for ten years learning, developing and playing poker, without the cameras and fanfare. All the great ones know the effort comes from within, and you have to really want it."
