Boyd “Rainmaker” Melson, Professional Athlete and Advocate for Stem Cell Treatment of Spinal Cord Injury, signs on as Advisory Board Member of Store-A-Tooth™ Dental Stem Cell Banking

Melson is a gifted professional boxer who donates all of the money that he earns in the ring to stem cell research for the treatment of spinal cord injury.  His advocacy efforts have been profiled on Emmy Award winning HBO series Real Sports, ESPN.com, Sports Illustrated and Yahoo.  He is a founder of the organization Team Fight to Walk (www.teamfighttowalk.com), which through professional boxers and other athletes raises money for JustADollarPlease(www.justadollarplease.org), which supports efforts to bring clinical trials of stem cell treatments for spinal cord injury to the USA.

As an amateur boxer, Melson won the 48th World Military Boxing Championship gold medal in the 69 kg. weight class, and was a four-time United States Army champion and three-time NCBA All-American boxer. He won gold medals at the All Army Boxing Championships twice and at the Armed Forces Boxing Championships twice. He won a bronze medal at the 2005 US Amateur Boxing Championships.  Melson turned professional in 2010, in order to raise money for stem cell research.  He serves as an Army Reserves Captain of the 1179th Transportation Brigade at Fort Hamilton, in Brooklyn, NY. He is a Manhattan, NYresident.
