NEW YORK (Oct. 17, 2014) - Undefeated light heavyweight contender Sean Monaghan (22-0, 14 KOs) and multi-media personality Bobby Cassidy Jr. were guest speakers at last night's Ring 8 monthly meeting, held for the first time at Plattduetsche Park Restaurant in Franklin Square, New York.
In an effort to expand its membership, Ring 8 has committed to holding four of its 10 monthly meetings a year at Plattduetsche Park Restaurant with the remainder at historic Waterfront Crabhouse in Long Island City, New York.
Monaghan, fighting out of Long Beach (NY), is the reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) Americas light heavyweight champion. He is world rated by all four major governing bodies: WBA (#3), IBF (#4), WBC #8) and WBO #13).
Cassidy is a highly respected writer for Newsday, as well a producer of boxing documentaries who also wrote "Kid Shamrock," a popular play about his father, Bobby Cassidy Sr., the retired boxer and New York State Boxing Hall of Fame inductee.
