‘Little Mike’ to Face Matthew Pepper On Oct 25th

Hackney based Turkish Light Heavyweight prospect, Onder ‘Little Mike’ Ozgul is set to face Scunthorpe’s Matthew Pepper, on the Dave Murphy Acourtier events promoted CAPITAL PUNISHMENT, which takes place at the York Hall in Bethnal green, London on Saturday 25th October 2014.

A former Amateur and IABA World Series Of Boxing star Onder has made quite an impact since turning pro in March this year.

On his pro debut, Onder scored a shut out points victory over Lithuania’s Dmitrij Kalinovskij, he then followed this up just six weeks later with a first round stoppage win over Brighton’s Iain Jackson, who he had sent to the canvas twice before the fight was stopped mid way through the final minute of round by referee Ian John-Lewis.

These wins wouldn’t come as a surprise to his many fans back in his homeland – as it was they who gave him the nickname ‘Little Mike’, due to his style being so similar to that of legendary ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson.

His opponent on the 25th October, Matthew Pepper, may be more experienced, having fought ten times previously, but that doesn’t seem to bother Onder one iota, as he made clear when he spoke following a training session with his coach, former Commonwealth Lightweight Champion Mo Hussein at the TRAD TKO Gym in Canning Town.

“I’m really looking forward to fighting again, it’s been longer between fights than I want, so can’t wait.

I don’t know my opponent, no disrespect intended but I don’t care who I am fighting, just that I am fighting and winning.

I came to this Country with one intention, to be a World Champion, that is my goal, that is why I am here at the TRAD TKO.

Training has been going very well, under the tuition of Mo Hussein, he’s an excellent trainer, he trains my brother (Siar) also.

We have great training and sparring sessions at the TRAD TKO and it’s going well so far.

I’ve been sparring Manny Muhammad, who’s also fighting on the 25th October show, as well as TRAD TKO gym mates Amro Ezzat, Festim Lama and of course Siar.

I want to say thank you to the fans that come and support me and Siar, we really appreciate your support, we wouldn’t be able to achieve our dream without you, Thank you.”

Onder Ozgul vs Matthew Pepper features on the undercard of the Baz Rehman sponsored Marianne Marston versus Marianna Gulyas MBC International title clash, takes heads up the Dave Murphy Acourtier Events promoted CAPITAL PUNISHMENT mega event at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London, on Saturday, 25th October 2014.

Antonio Counihan: I’m Going To Put On A Great Performance For the Fans on October 25th

Solihull’s Antonio Counihan, who has been described as one of the most talented and exciting young lightweights to hit the British pro scene over the past year, is set to return to the Capital City in October, when he features on the Dave Murphy Acourtier Events promoted CAPITAL PUNISHMENT mega event at York Hall on Saturday 25th October.

During his stellar amateur career young Antonio fought eighty competitive bouts, fifteen of which were Team GB Internationals, accruing numerous national accolades along the way, including winning the Junior ABAs, The Great Britain Championships and the Haringey Box Cup, as well as the ultimate honour of having the Captaincy of the England National Amateur Boxing Squad bestowed upon him.
With such a superb amateur pedigree it should come as no surprise to anyone, that since turning pro just twelve months ago, Antonio has already racked up three top class victories, two by stoppage, over Robin Deakin and Tibor Szucs and a shut out points victory over Marcin Ficner.

To describe Antonio’s performances as first class is an understatement, the youngster dominated and outclassed his opponents from start to finish.

One of Antonio’s previous opponents, Robin Deakin, even went as far as stating that the Solihull youngster is a truly special talent and the best fighter he’s ever boxed.

Praise indeed, since Robin’s boxed the likes of WBC Champion Stephen Smith, English Champions Liam and Ryan Walsh, WBF Champion Patrick Hyland and WBO Inter-Continental Champion Anthony Crolla amongst many other domestic stars.

Antonio’s management are well aware just how special their charge is and as such on October 25th Antonio steps up to a six rounder, against a yet to be named opponent, in preparation for an early shot at an International title in 2015.

Speaking from his home on yesterday, Antonio said.

“I really can’t wait for it, I’m ready for it and sold lot of tickets already and look forward to putting on a good performance for the fans.

My training’s gone really well, had plenty of sparring and none of it less than six rounds so well ready for this.

I really can’t wait to do my first six rounder, I honestly felt I could have done six my last fight, but so it goes I’m ready for a six rounder.

I just can’t wait, I’m really looking forward to putting on a good performance for the fans, thank you for buying tickets and I promise I’ll show you a good performance.”

Following learning of the praise Robin Deakin had lavished on him Antonio continued.

“Robin’s fought good fighters like Anthony Crolla, Ryan Walsh and Stephen Smith and everyone, so for him to say that about me is a massive compliment.

It was my debut so it’s always good to get out of the way, I hadn’t boxed for a while so was a bit apprehensive before it, you know it’s your debut and that’s always something special.

He really gave me a lot of grief before the fight, I know we’ve become quite good friends now, but for him to say that really is a massive compliment.”

Antonio Counihan, against a yet to be named opponent, features on the undercard of the Baz Rehman sponsored Marianne Marston versus Marianna Gulyas MBC International title clash, takes place on the Dave Murphy Acourtier Events promoted CAPITAL PUNISHMENT mega event at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London, on Saturday, 25th October 2014.

The event is sanctioned by the Malta Boxing Commission.

Tickets, priced £35 (Standard Seated) and £60 (Ringside) are available from Antonio on 07535 806545, any of the boxers taking part, on-line, at www.tkoboxoffice.com  and  www.acourtier.com  -  or call the ticket line on 07960 850645 or 07809 499896.

Mark ‘The Flash’ Alexander Inks Promotional Deal With Dave Murphy

Mark ‘The Flash’ Alexander has signed a promotional deal with Dave Murphy’s Acourtier Events organisation. On signing it was announced that the Finsbury Park Light Welterweight will make his maiden outing under the Acourtier Events banner on October 25th at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London on the undercard of Marston - Gulyas MBC International Championship bout.

Alexander, who turned pro in 2001, was a regular on the UK scene until 2010, after which he relocated to America to train with legendary coach Emmanuel Steward at his world famous Kronk Gym in Detroit.

Whilst under Emmanuel Steward’s charge Alexander fought just the once, losing on points to Jersey City’s Michael Torres in a Championship bout, for the vacant USA New Jersey State Light Welterweight title.

Following Emmanuel Steward’s death, Alexander returned to the UK for a while before relocating to Philadelphia to link up with another top American coach, Percy ‘Buster’ Custus, at the James Shuler Memorial Gym in West Philadelphia.

Earlier this year Alexander returned to the UK, but with so few offers of fights on the table he once again began considering returning to America, that was until a friend suggested contacting Acourtier Events head honcho Dave Murphy and as they say the rest is history.

Following inking the deal with ‘The Flash’ Dave Murphy said. “Yeah, I’m really pleased to sign Mark, he’s another promising fighter that hasn’t really had any breaks, so really pleased to give him the chance he deserves.

He’s been messed about since his return from America, loads of promises but nothing really happening for him, so really pleased to help get his career back on track.

Mark’s just got his Malta Boxing Commission license and is set to fight on our London shows.

He’ll have his first fight, under the Acourtier Events banner, on the MBC sanctioned CAPITAL PUNISHMENT at York Hall on the 25th October, he’ll be fighting a tried and tested fighter, Robin Deakin.

I’m really looking forward to the fight, there’s some ‘history’ between these two, so I’m sure we are going to see a real cracking fight from them on the night.”

A clearly pleased Alexander, who had sat smiling throughout as Dave Murphy spoke, then added, “Yes I have, I’ve just signed with Dave to fight on his British MBC sanctioned shows, starting on October 25th at the York Hall.

I’m really looking forward to it, you know it was 2010 since I last fought at York Hall, can’t believe how long it’s been.

I’ve been over in America, I was close to getting a contract and fight out of Detroit, but that all fell apart when Emmanuel Steward died.

When he died, everything just stopped, so I came back to the UK to rethink what I wanted to do, at the time I really wanted to fight in America, so I went back out, this time to Philadelphia.

I met up with a very good training team, headed up by ‘Buster’ Custus at the James Shuler Memorial Gym, it was great, great gym, great training, everything seemed to be back on track again.

Too good maybe, whilst at Shulers I was offered a deal over there, basically I was offered the full deal, I mean everything, but it soon became clear that it wasn’t what it seemed, not just terms wise, but they wanted to control every aspect, including who trains me.

I went back to Buster, who kindly offered to get me some fights after that deal fell through.

Back to now though, I’ve been training and sparring with quality guys, on both sides of the Atlantic, I’m back in London now and I need to move on, hopefully get to fight for some titles.

I met with Dave a couple of months ago, he told me about what he is doing, I wasn’t too sure if it was for me at first, so I took a little time and watched what was happening on the British scene.

The board (BBBofC) were being typically awkward and to add insult to injury the only potential offers I was getting from any promoter was a ‘perhaps’ for a spot on Prizefighter, when and if it happens at my weight next, not exactly great for myself or my career.

I want to fight regularly, so after seeing more and more Malta Boxing Commission sanctioned shows in the UK I thought to myself, yeah let’s go with the MBC, the future looks bright there.

So I called Dave back, had another meeting, told him I liked what I see with the MBC and his shows, so here I am now, signed to Dave and more importantly fighting on October 25th.”

Mark ‘The Flash’ Alexander vs Rockin’ Robin Deakin features on the undercard of the Marston - Gulyas MBC International title clash, takes place on the Dave Murphy Acourtier Events promoted CAPITAL PUNISHMENT mega event at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London, on Saturday, 25th October 2014.

Tickets, priced £35 (Standard Seated) and £60 (Ringside) are available direct from Mark Alexander (call 07944 187153), from any of the boxers taking part, on-line at www.tkoboxoffice.com andwww.acourtier.com - or call the ticket line on 07960 850645 or 07809 499896.

Robin Deakin Signs With Dave Murphy – Goes Straight Into Action On March First

Promoter Dave Murphy announced today that he has signed the highly entertaining ‘Rocking’ Robin Deakin to his Acourtier Events promotional outfit, also stating that Robin will be making his first appearance under the Acourtier banner on the double WBU Europe Championship headed WARZONE, at York Hall on Saturday 1st March 2014.
During his career Robin has faced literally a who’s who of domestic stars, including WBF World Champion Patrick Hyland, WBO Inter-Continental Champion Anthony Crolla, IBF International Champion Eddie Hyland, WBC International Silver Champion Stephen Smith, IBO & WBC Youth Champion George Michael Carmen, as well as an array of English, British and regional Champions.
In his last bout Robin fought former England amateur Captain Antonio Counihan on Mr. Murphy’s NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS event, according to Mr. Murphy it was Robin’s performance, against such a classy opponent, as well as the level of tickets he had sold, that convinced him to give the longtime ‘journeyman’ the opportunity to become a ‘house’ fighter for the first time in his career.
Shortly after signing promotional papers with Mr. Murphy, Robin said.
“I can’t thank Dave enough for the chance he is giving me, I will not let him down that’s for sure.
It’s hard to come against it all the time as an ‘away’ opponent, because you’re always up against it, more or less lost before you get in there.
There are fights I have won, but haven’t. I’ve beaten some of the top promoters prospects on their shows, but the way the game is their fighter always gets the decision.
It’s great to finally be on the right side of the card and have good people behind me, so I can go out there and showcase my skills.
It’ll be good to get the right fights, I need the right fights rather than keep going in against future World Champions all the time and being right up against it having only one or two days notice.
For the fight on March 1st I’ve had eight weeks notice and have been able to prepare properly for the first time in my career.
The other good thing is that I will be fighting people of my own weight, not giving away weight. When I fought George Michael Carmen, he was a stone heavier than me, I still gave my all and out boxed him every round, but still didn’t get the decision.
Most of the reports said I put up a really good fight, but didn’t say much else, a couple though said I was robbed, that was really good to read.
I’ve mixed it with all the top fighters in Britain, I would fight anyone, but now it’s getting the right fights, 50/50 fights not easy ones but the right fights, the way they should be and what the fans want to watch.
My comeback, when I boxed Antonio Counihan, he’s a really good fighter, I come back for that and I sold a few tickets and realized I can do this, so now I’m going to be selling tickets for this fight, probably wont be walking away with a lot but you know, like I say, it’s not about the money, it’s about building my career and doing what I love this time around.
I’ve boxed for twenty one years, since I was six years old and I’ve always had it up against me, but now’s the time to show what I can do.
I’m confident, with Dave behind me, that good things will finally come my way. Dave’s a genuine guy, which I like, I get on well with Dave and I really believe now I can go forward with my career.
I know the fans love watching me, I’m exciting to watch, I’m an entertainer, so hopefully they’ll get behind me and buy tickets for my fights – Yeah, I’m back!”
Robin Deakin, against a yet to be named opponent, features on the Dave Murphy Acourtier Events double WBU Europe Title headed WARZONE, at York Hall in Bethnal Green on Saturday 1st March 2014.
Tickets, priced £35 (Standard Seated) and £60 (Ringside) for the Dave Murphy Acourtier Events WARZONE event are available direct from Robin or by calling the ticket lines 07960 850645 or 07809 499896
