Bellew looking to even the score against Cleverly this Saturday on AWE

Rematch plus 2 world title bouts to take place Saturday afternoon at 1 pm ET / 10 am PT Live on AWE--A Wealth of Entertainment

San Diego, CA - November 21, 2014 - On Saturday afternoon, November 22, one of the biggest days in boxing will take place as an eagerly anticipated rematch between former Light Heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly (28-1, 14 KO's)
and former two-time championship challenger Tony Bellew (22-2-1, 14 KO's) airs exclusively and live on
AWE.

The 12-round Cruiserweight World Title eliminator bout will originate from the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England and will be broadcast LIVE in the United States on AWE-A Wealth of Entertainment at 1 PM ET / 10 PM PT

On October 15, 2011, Tony Bellew got that match he was clamoring for and that was a world title opportunity with then WBO Light Heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly.  It was a bout that was in the making for sometime as they were both undefeated & Cleverly had what Bellew wanted.  It turned personal and the grudge match saw Cleverly eek out a majority decision on a grueling affair.

This Saturday, both who have both since suffered setbacks, will meet again but this time they will compete as Cruiserweights with much on the line.

"It felt like my world had just ended," said Bellew. "You've been in a hard fight, you've taken a lot of punches and thrown a lot of punches. It hits you hard. I thought I had done enough and I knew it was a really close fight. We were all waiting for him to announce it, it seemed to take an age and when the referee announced him as the winner, he went mad, jumping around the ring,"said Bellew.

"I don't class it as a loss, I really don't I look at my career and I believe I've been beaten by one man and that is Adonis Stevenson. I believe at worst in that fight with Cleverly you can give it a draw. If you are going to score that fight and say who the better boxer of these two is, it's me. If you're going to ask who landed the harder shots in the fight, it's me. OK, you can say he wins rounds on little bit of extra work rate, especially the last two, but a 12 round fight isn't about the last two rounds. Over the whole 12 rounds I was the better boxer, I won six rounds clearly and you can't deny me that." continued Bellew of the first encounter.

Because of the rivalry, it was a natural when both moved to Cruisweweight that hostilities would be renewed.

"I'm not really that bothered to tell the truth," said Bellew. "It's great boxing in front of your home fans, it's a fantastic feeling, a buzz. I've had both sides of the spectrum. I've had 10,000 against me and 10,000 with me and let me tell you, it's a lot better when you have them on your side. They can help spur you on through the dark moments, because when a fight gets hard, there is going to be dark moments, when you need to show what you are about and what you have got in the tank, they can drag it out of you."

On July 12, Both Cleverly and Bellew shared a bill and scored knockout wins to set this rematch.  After Bellew's win, he tried to fire the first verbal and psychological at Cleverly.

"I walked over and I gave him a piece of my mind," said Bellew. "Does he really believe you were a World champion. I don't think he does. The eyes don't lie. I have looked into the eyes of a true World champion in Adonis Stevenson. He looks ruthless, looks deadly and looks vicious. Looking into Stevenson's eyes and looking into Cleverly's eyes, there's only one World champion there, and I am not fighting him tonight."

"He is mentally weak. Any man that is talking about retirement shouldn't be fighting any more, simple as that. He's fragile and he's hiding a lot from people. I win the fight because I am too strong, too powerful and I am technically better than him in everything he does."

Nathan Cleverly seeks his own redemption this Saturday against Bellew

Rematch plus 2 world title bouts to take place Saturday afternoon at 1 pm ET / 10 am PT Live on AWE--A Wealth of Entertainment

San Diego, CA - November 18, 2914 - On Saturday afternoon, November 22, one of the biggest days in boxing will take place as an eagerly anticipated rematch between former Light Heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly (28-1, 14 KO's) and former two-time championship challenger Tony Bellew (22-2-1, 14 KO's) airs exclusively and live on AWE.
The 12-round Cruiserweight World Title eliminator bout will originate from the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England and will be broadcast LIVE in the United States on AWE-A Wealth of Entertainment at 1 PM ET / 10 PM PT

Although Cleverly one the first bout, he knows that not only does he need a win but knows that it will be a crowd pleasing affair.

"We have history, it's a grudge match,"said Cleverly.  "The first fight was an excellent fight and the reason why this rematch is happening is not only is it a rivalry and we don't like each other, but the first fight was an excellent battle.  I won the fight, got the decision, but it was a close fight, got the decision, but it was a close fight so people want to see it again.  I want to fight him again, because I want to silence him once and for all."

That animosity stems up from before their first battle when at a press conference, Cleverly thought Bellew became disrespectful to the then WBO Light Heavyweight champion.

"We just clash," said Cleverly. "At the end of the day, I am a winner and in the first press conference I was World champion and he came in with this attitude. I was sat at the table and he kind of looked at me and said something and he got under my skin straight away.

"That fight was set up as a big fight. The press conferences, the clash, the grudge match, it was a ferocious build-up. More importantly though, we both delivered on the night. I delivered a good solid performance and Tony Bellew gave it everything. He threw the kitchen sink at me that night, that was his big chance and it made for an excellent fight.

"I had the phone call saying; 'Nathan, you're fighting Tony Bellew on October 15', and I remember thinking 'that's only seven weeks away'. So the build-up wasn't ideal, I want at least ten weeks for a proper training camp. It is difficult going into a fight knowing that you haven't had a proper camp but I got on with it, I didn't make excuses at the time, I just said to myself: 'I'm World champion, let's defend my title in his hometown'. That's what a proper champion does and that is what I did.

Cleverly thought he was through with his Light Heavyweight rival, but when both suffered knockout losses (Cleverly losing his title to Sergey Kovaelv while Bellew was stopped by WBC champion Adonis Stevenson) both decided to move up in weight.

"At the final bell when we embraced he said: 'Forget doing that again, forget doing that again'. I gave him the hardest fight he's ever had to go through. It was a tough fight, he was on his last legs - he was spent. He says he had weight issues and he was drained but he gave everything that night, he had nothing else in the tank."

Cleverly's personal redemption is that he is looking to get back on top.  This time in the Cruiserweight division and a second win over his rival will go a long way into that coming to fruition.

"There's an incredible amount riding on this fight," said Cleverly. "It's personal between us but I know what will happen to the winner. This fight is a gateway to a World title shot and the chance for me to make that two-weight World champion dream a reality. That rarely happens in boxing, only the best fighters achieve it so for me to go on and do it, that's what dreams are made of.

"I can't imagine myself losing and it hasn't crossed my mind because I am so confident of winning. I cannot allow this guy to beat me.

"I wouldn't say I hate him. He hates me, there's no doubt about that. He hates me because I've beaten him and I've been a World champion."

Because of the first win, Cleverly has the confidence that makes him a favorite to make it two in a row against Bellew.

"I will win this fight because I am all round a better fighter than him. I believe I am a faster puncher than Tony Bellew, I have more energy, more speed and more stamina. Yes, maybe I don't have the one-punch KO power he carries, but he's hit me clean with that at Light Heavyweight where he was taking people out, and it didn't bother me. He may punch harder at Cruiserweight but I'm bigger and stronger. My chin is better, there's more energy in my legs. So if I can gather the speed, the stamina, the energy levels, the punch variety and the combinations and bring it all up to Cruiserweight, it will be too much for this guy."

Two co-main events feature two WBA world title bouts. Scott Quigg will make the 5th defense of the WBA Super Bantamweight title against Hidenori Otake of Tokyo, Japan. Also co-featured is two-time Bantamweight champion Jamie McDonnelldefending the WBA Bantamweight title against Javier Chacon of Argentina..

Selby earns Featherweight title shot with unanimous decision over Koasicha

San Diego, CA - May 17, 2014 -Lee Selby earned a shot at WBC Featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez with a 12-round unanimous decision over Romulo Koasicha in a WBC title elimination bout as well as a WBC International title fight at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales.
Selby was effective with the volume of punches by just doing a solid job of keeping Koasicha on the receiving end of three and four punch combinations. Koasicha had a few opportunities in round's five and seven as he got through with some solid left hooks but he was not able to capitalize on  his few effective moments. Down the stretch, Selby was not challenged in the least as he boxed and moved well and cruised home to the victory to the tune of 119-109, 119-109 and 119-110.
Selby, 125 1/2 lbs of Barrie, Wales is now 19-1. Koasicha, 125 1/2 lbs of San Luis Potasi, Mexico drops to 21-4.
Former world Light Heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly made a splash in his Cruiserweight debut by taking out Shawn Corbin in round two of their scheduled 12-round WBA Intercontinental title bout.
Cleverly hurt Corbin with and uppercut and was relentless with pinpoint punches that continued to snap the head of Corbin back until referee Richie Davies stopped the bout at 2:19 of round two.
Cleverly, 198 1/2 lbs of Wales is now 27-1 with 13 knockouts. Corbin, 195 1/2 lbs of Trinidad and Tobago is now 17-5.
Former world champion Gavin Rees and Gary Buckland staged their 2nd war in just over three months that saw Rees capture a split decision in a 12 round Lightweight bout that was Rees' final ring outing.
The two traded hard shots in close for basically all 12 rounds of the bout  that saw many ebbs and flows during the contest. Both guys landed hard thudding shots and had each other in trouble. Rees was cut over his left eye in round 10 but came back to rock Buckland several times in the final two frames.
Rees had Buckland in trouble in the final round but Buckland came on to land a few good power punches of his own.
Rees, 137 lbs of Newbridge, Wales won by scores of 117-113 and 117-112 while Buckland took a card 117-112.
Rees finishes his career with a record of 38-4-1. Buckland, 137 of Cardiff, Wales is now 28-4.
Good looking Super Middleweight prospect Callum Smith took out Tobias Webb in round two of their scheduled 10-round WBC International Super Middleweight bout.
Smith droped Webb four times in round two, three of them were from vicious body shots. The final knockdown was a left to the body that sent Webb down on all fours and he was counted out at 2:50 of round two.
Smith, 166 3/4 lbs of Liverpool is now 11-0 with 9 knockouts. Webb, 167 1/2 lbs is now 14-2-1.
Paul Smith Jr tuned up for a potential world title shot with Arthur Abraham with a 2nd round destruction over David Sarabia in a eight round Light Heavyweight bout.
Smith dropped Sarabia in the 1st round from a right hand. He hurt Sarabia in round two and pounced on him with a big barrage of punches and the fight was stopped at1:17 of round two.
Smith, 171 3/4 lbs of Liverpool, UK is now 35-3 with 20 KO's. Sarabia, 170 1/4 lbs of Spain is now 7-4-2.

Former world champion Nathan Cleverly looks to make impression on Cruiserweight division this Saturday on AWE

San Diego, CA - May 16, 2014 -This Saturday afternoon, former WBO Light Heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly (26-1, 12 KO's)  will make his debut as a Cruiserweight when he takes on Sean Corbin in a 12-round bout for the WBA Intercontinental title.

The card will be broadcast in the United State on AWE and will begin at 2:30 PM ETand will originate from the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales.

Cleverly of Wales is looking to start anew after losing his WBO Light Heavyweight title when he was stopped by Sergey Kovalev last August 17.

In the main event, Featherweight contender Lee Selby (18-1, 7 KO's) will look to inch closer to to a world title shot when he takes on tough Mexican Romulo Koasicha(21-3, 12 KO's) in a bout that will contested for the WBC International title.

Cleverly of Wales is looking to start anew after losing his WBO Light Heavyweight title when he was stopped by Sergey Kovalev last August 17.

Cleverly is in a good state of mind despite the loss to Kovalev and believes the new weight is a fresh start.

"Everything is  great.  My weight is good.  I feel strong and fresh and I am eager to see how i perform at this weight.  I know there are a few question marks and I will look to see how I perform at Cruiserweight," said Cleverly.

After coming off such a stunning defeat, Cleverly understands that he will have doubters but he feels otherwise.

"I have no doubt.  I took a nice break and feel refreshed.  I feel strong and am in a good place.  I am ready for the challenge."

Corbin of Trinidad and Tobago has a record of 17-4 with 12 knockouts could pose to be a formidable challenge Ceverly as he has won two in a row and also has a win over former WBC champion Wayne Braithwaite.

"Corbin is tall and in shape.  He looks good but I should take care of him if I want to progress.  I have to beat this guy."

With a win, there is already speculation of a rematch with Tony Bellew.  The two met in 2011 when Cleverly won a hotly contested majority decision in what was Cleverly's 2nd title defense.  There is no love loss between the two and like Cleverly, Bellew just moved up to the Cruiserweight division.

"I won the 1st fight with Bellew.  The fans like these rivalries.  I want the big fights.  That fight creates hype and I think it could be a fight the fans want."

Bellew aside, Cleverly loved being a world champion and he wants to have that feeling again.  He is not targeting any champion in particular but would love a shot sooner rather than later.

"I look at all the champs as good solid fighters.  In a few fights I want to be ready to challenge one of them.   I need to win my next three fights to get that opportunity.  I will be back to my best.  I am looking to be involved  in exciting fights.  I have a fan friendly style and I will be back to my best as a Cruiserweight," finished Cleverly.

A stacked undercard has been arranged by promoter Eddie Hearns of Matchroom Sport. In a 12-round Battle for the WBC International Super Middleweight title, undefeated Callum Smith (10-0, 8 KO's) will take on Tobias Webb (14-1-1, 2 KO's). Gary Buckland (28-3, 9 KO's) will battle former world champion Gavin Rees(37-4-1, 18 KO's). Also former Light Heavyweight champion, Nathan Cleverly (26-1, 12 KO's) will make his Cruiserweight debut against Sean Corbin (17-4, 12 KO's)
