SIGNIFICANT MUHAMMAD ALI FIGHT-WORN GLOVES SELL FOR $385,848 IN SCP AUCTIONS’ NOVEMBER AUCTION


The Angelo Dundee Estate Collection garners $1.3 million

Laguna Niguel, Calif.  (Dec. 1, 2012) –  Two significant pairs of Muhammad Ali fight-worn gloves - Ali’s (then Cassius Clay) gloves from his February 25, 1964 bout against Sonny Liston and his gloves from his March 8, 1971 bout against Joe Frazier (Ali-Frazier I) – each sold for $385,848 in a SCP Auctions’ November auction which concluded early Saturday.  The sale of these two items sets a world-record price for any piece of boxing memorabilia at public auction. 

The Angelo Dundee Estate Collection of boxing memorabilia, more than one hundred items spanning the breadth of renowned trainer Dundee’s extraordinary career, brought in more than $1.3 million.  Jim Dundee, the late Angelo's son, plans to donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale to the Muhammad Ali Foundation and the auction will also help the Dundee family fulfill Angelo's wish that necessary medical care be provided and funded for Jim's sister, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis.

The remainder of the fall auction will conclude Saturday evening, including The Ozzie Smith Collection of baseball memorabilia highlighted by his 13 Gold Glove Awards from 1980-1992, the personal basketball memorabilia of Basketball Hall of Famers Sam Jones, Oscar Robertson and David Thompson, The Paul Hornung Collection of football memorabilia, a Babe Ruth’s c. 1922 team sweater, a Mickey Mantle’s 1964-1967 model game-worn jacket and a legendary T210 Old Mill Joe Jackson card.

Laguna Niguel, Calif.  (November 27, 2012) – The bidding for the Angelo Dundee Estate Collection of boxing memorabilia, the Ozzie Smith Collection of baseball memorabilia, Babe Ruth’s c. 1922 team sweater and Mickey Mantle’s 1964-1967 model game-worn jacket is expected to heat up this week, as collectors scramble to secure these coveted pieces of sports history before SCP Auctions’ fall auction comes to a close this weekend.  The Dundee collection ends on Friday, Nov. 30 while the remainder of the auction ends on Saturday, Dec. 1 at SCPAuctions.com. 

Two pairs of gloves from Muhammad Ali’s two most legendary fights top the bidding in SCP Auctions’ fall auction.  His fight-worn gloves, including Ali’s (then Cassius Clay) gloves from his February 25, 1964 bout against Sonny Liston, sit at $241,577 and are expected to rise dramatically.  Ali’s gloves from his March 8, 1971 bout against Joe Frazier (Ali-Frazier I) have a current bid of $219,615. Jim Dundee, the late Angelo's son, plans to donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale to the Muhammad Ali Foundation and the auction will also help the Dundee family fulfill Angelo's wish that necessary medical care be provided and funded for Jim's sister, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis.

Other top bids come from the Smith Collection of baseball memorabilia, including his 13 Gold Glove Awards from 1980-1992, a legendary T210 Old Mill Joe Jackson card, Ruth sweater, the Mantle jacket and thepersonal basketball memorabilia of Basketball Hall of Famers Sam Jones and Oscar Robertson.  The top 10 bids (as of 9:00 a.m. EST on Nov. 27) in the auction include:

·         Cassius Clay’s fight-worn gloves from Feb. 25, 1964 bout vs. Sonny Liston – current high bid $241,577

·         Ali’s fight-worn gloves from March 8, 1971 bout vs. Joe Frazier – current high bid $219,615

·         Smith’s career set of 13 Golden Glove Award trophies (1980-92) – current high bid $113,932

·         1910 T210 Old Mill Series 8 Joe Jackson GD PSA 2 – current high bid $66,550

·         1964-67 Mantle New York Yankees professional model game-worn jacket – current high bid $60,500

·         Ruth’s c. 1922 New York Yankees team sweater – current high bid $55,000

·         Jones’ Boston Celtics 1958-59 NBA Championship ring – current high bid $34,529

·         Sam Jones’ 1983 National Basketball Hall of Fame induction ring – current high bid $31,390

·         Oscar Robertson’s 1960 Olympic Gold Medal winning Team USA game-worn jersey – current high bid $29,282

·         Smith’s 2011 St. Louis Cardinals World Series ring – current high bid $29,233

CARD SHAPING UP FOR SATURDAY’S BIG PHILLY FIGHT CARD AT THE PENNSYLVANIA CONVENTION CENTER


PHILADELPHIA (July 5, 2012)—The complete lineup is almost for this Saturday night’s massive fight card at the Pennsylvania Convention Center (13th & Arch Streets) in Center City Philadelphia.

The show is promoted by James Shuler Boxing Promotions.

In the main event, former world title challenger Yusaf Mack (30-4-2, 17 KO’s) of Philadelphia will take on Sabou Ballogou (8-5, 3 KO’s) of France in a eight round Light Heavyweight bout.

Former U.S. Olympic Alternate Eric “Outlaw” Hunter (15-2, 8 KO’s) battles Jason Rorie (6-15-2, 3 KO’s) in a six round Featherweight bout

Dhafir Smith (26-22-7, 4 KO’s) of Philadelphia takes on Bobby Jordan Jr. (8-3-1, 4 KO’s) of Norfolk, VA in a six round Light Heavyweight bout.

Former world amateur champion Joey Dawejko (7-0-1, 3 KO’s) of Philadelphia squares off with Jon Bolden (3-4, 3 KO’s) of New York in a six round Heavyweight bout.

Son of former World Heavyweight champion, Tim Witherspoon Jr. (6-2-1, 2 KO’s) of Philadelphia takes on Cassius Clay (0-4) in a four round Lightweight bout.

Saud Clark (1-0, 1 KO) battles Kareem McFarland (1-0, 1 KO) in a battle of undefeated Philadelphia Welterweights in a four round bout.

Greg Jackson of Philadelphia will make his pro debut against Vaughn Anderson (0-2) in a four round Jr. Middleweight bout.

Terrelle James will make his pro debut against Tyrell Boggs (0-4) in a four round Welterweight bout featuring Philadelphians.

Son of former world title challenger, Tyrone Crawley Jr. (2-0) of Philadelphia takes on debuting Berto Manoyak of New York in a four round Welterweight tussle.

Wahid Raheem (3-0, 1 KO) of Philadelphia will box Marcus Smith (2-5, 2 KO’s) of Trenton, NJ in a four round Lightweight bout.

Heavyweight Corey Morley of Philadelphia will make his pro debut against an opponent to be announced in a four round bout.

Orlando Lewis (4-2, 4 KO’s) of Vineland, NJ makes his return after a four year absence when he boxes John Frazier of New York in a four round Jr. Middleweight bout.

There will also be appearances by some of the best amateur fighters in Philadelphia such as 2011-2012 National champion Rasheen Brown, Tony DuBose and Isiah Gibbons.

YUSAF MACK TO TAKE ON SABOU BALLOGOU ON JULY 7TH AT THE PENNSYLVANIA CONVENTION CENTER IN PHILADELPHIA

PHILADELPHIA, PA (June 20, 2012)—On Saturday night July 7th at the beautiful Pennsylvania Convention Center, James Shuler Gym Promotions presents a night of boxing that will feature some of the best boxers in Philadelphia.

In the main event, Former world title challenger and currant USBA Light Heavyweight champion, Yusaf Mack will take on upset minded Sabou Ballogou in a bout scheduled for eight rounds.

Mack of Philadelphia has a record of 30-4-2 with seventeen knockouts and is coming an impressive performance when he scored an emphatic twelve round unanimous decision over former four-time world title challenger Omar Sheika on April 28th in Atlantic City.

Mack previously challenged for the IBF World championship and gave undefeated champion Tavoris Cloud all he wanted before being stopped in the eighth round.

Mack has victories over Donnell Wiggins (21-4-2); Jose Juan Vasquez (16-1-1); Daniel Judah (22-2-3) & Chris Henry (23-1)

Mack’s only setbacks have been to world champions Cloud, Alejandro Berrio, Glen Johnson and former world title challenger Librado Andrade.

Ballogou of Paris, France has a record of 8-5 with three knockouts.

He is a former IBC International and IBF Pan African Middleweight champion and is coming off a performance when he dropped an eight round unanimous decision to highly regarded and undefeated Derrick Webster in what was Ballogou’s American debut.

In that bout, Ballogou dropped Webster twice in round seven and Webster seemed seconds away from being knocked out before the bell rang to signal the end of the round.  Webster was able to compose himself and hang on for the victory.

In the six round co-feature, newly crowned Pennsylvania Light Heavyweight champion Dhafir Smith (26-22-7, 4 KO’s) of Philadelphia will take on Bobby Jordan (8-3-1, 4 KO’s) of Norfolk, VA.

In a four round Featherweight bout, former U.S. Olympic Alternate Eric Hunter (15-2, 8 KO’s) of Philadelphia takes on Jason Rorie (6-15-2, 3 KO’s) of Winston-Salem, NC

Kareem Macfarland (1-0, 1 KO) takes on Saud Clark (1-0, 1 KO) in a battle of Philadelphia based Welterweights.
