Johnny Bos Tribute Tuesday at Ring 8 meeting in New York

NEW YORK, NY (May 20, 2013) - Ring 8 will pay tribute to the late, great matchmaker Johnny Bos tomorrow night (Tuesday, May 21 starting at 7:00 p.m. ET) at historic Waterfront Crabhouse, in Long Island City, New York. Many of Bos' friends, family and associates have been invited to attendtomorrow;s Ring 8 monthly meeting in an effort to raise funds to help defray the costs of Bos' funeral.  One-hundred percent of all proceeds raised tomorrow from new Ring 8 membership fees ($30.00 per year entitles each member to a buffet dinner at Ring 8 monthly meetings), as well as any group or individual donations, will go directly towards Bos' funeral expenses. The eccentric Bos - known as "The Wizard of Bos" - helped develop the careers of countless boxers over the years, particularly in New York, as a matchmaker and advisor.  Some of "Bos' boxers" include Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield. Pernell Whitaker, Gerry Cooney, Paulie Malignaggi, Joey Gamache, Yuri Foreman, Jameel McCline and Tracy Harris Patterson.   "We just became aware of this situation (funeral expense needs) over the weekend and Ring 8 wanted to help," Ring 8 president Bob Duffy said.  "All monies raised will go directly to Johnny's family towards his funeral expenses. Ring 8 member and Johnny's close friend, Don Majeski, was the driving force in this effort. Mago Abdusalamov Ready for the 'Big-Time'

Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing sends his congratulations to the winner and still undefeated heavyweight Magomed "Mago" Abdusalamov (16-0, 16 KOs) after his crushing TKO 2 (1:57) over former world title challenger and long-time top contender Jameel "Big Time" McCline in Moscow, Russia, on Saturday night. Fighting on the undercard of the Vitali Klitschko vs. Manuel Charr WBC Heavyweight Championship fight, Abdusalamov picked up the vacant WBC United States (USNBC) heavyweight title by dropping and stopping McCline with a single, devastating right hook. But it wasn't easy. Known for pulling off surprises throughout his career, McCline was able to catch Abdusalamov with his own powerful right hand early in round one and drop him for a legitimate knockdown. "McCline put a little scare into us," said a happy Lewkowicz, post-fight. "But Mago handled it very well. He was a little hurt, but he got up, weathered the storm and was in control of the fight by the end of the round. This is heavyweight boxing. He's going to have to be able to come back from big shots like that and now we see he can do it. It was a great test that he passed impressively." Lewkowicz says the performance against McCline, coupled with his previous strong showings against ever-increasing levels of opponent, should be enough to warrant Abdusalamov's ascension to the upper levels of the division. "We'll be petitioning to have Mago placed in the top 10 of all the organizations, based on this victory. It's clear he's moving into position for a big fight soon against another top guy, with a title fight not long after that. He did with one punch what a long line of champions and top contenders could not do to Jameel McCline. Lewkowicz Sends Best Wishes to Heavyweight Crusher Mago Before His 'Big-Time' Step Up

Sampson Lewkowicz, promoter of heavyweight powerhouse Magomed "Mago" Abdusalamov (15-0, 15 KOs), is sending his best wishes to the up-and-coming slugger in advance of his fight this week. Abdusalamov will take another step up in class this Saturday (September 8) when he takes on former world title challenger and long-time top contender Jameel "Big Time" McCline for the vacant WBC United States (USNBC) heavyweight title in Moscow, Russia, on the undercard of the WBC Heavyweight Championship main event between Vitali Klitschko and Manuel Charr. "Magomed has taken every step with ease so far," said Lewkowicz. "Now we will see what he looks like against someone who has been to the top. I know he is ready for this challenge and is taking it very seriously. He knows another strong showing in front of all the dignitaries at this event will put him in a position for a very big fight in the near future." 31-year-old Abdusalamov was last seen in July, demolishing well-thought-of contender Maurice Byarm by second-round TKO. "That fight looked like a mismatch if you didn't know that Byarm was considered an up-and-coming guy who had only lost to Bryant Jennings by decision. And Jennings went on to knock out Sergei Liakhovich, the former heavyweight champion, in his next fight. Mago made it look very easy against Byarm. That's the kind of power he has. McCLINE DECISIONS CASTILLO IN HAMILTON, NEW JERSEY

Big wins by Medina, Feliciano, Swain, and Calderon Plus Luckey & Ellis battle to a thrilling draw.

HAMILTON, NJ (MARCH 31, 2012)—Former four-time world Heavyweight title challenger, Jameel “Big Time” McCline scored an eight round split decision over veteran Livin Castillo in front of a near capacity crowd at the Hamilton Manor in Hamilton, New Jersey.

The six bout card with promoted by Nedal’s Boxing and Andre Kut’s KEA Boxing.

McCline used his seven-plus inch height advantage to jab and set up right hands that forced Castillo to stay on the outside and fight defensively.

In round one, McCline buckled Castillo with a long right hand, and it looked like it could be a short night for McCline.

Castillo showed veteran tactics and was able to stay away from serious damage and even sneak in some straight lefts but none ever had much affect on McCline who enjoyed a fifty-six pound weight advantage.

McCline was docked a point in round five for throwing Castillo to the canvas.

McCline, of New York, won by scores of 77-74; 76-75 while Castillo won a card by a 77-74 tally.

In the scorching co-feature, Eberto Medina scored a mild upset when he won a six round unanimous decision over Przemyslaw Opalach in a Middleweight bout.

Medina showed tremendous grit and took the fight to the previously undefeated Opalach and seized control half way through the fight. Opalach fought a good fight but Medina was pinpoint in his punching and landed numerous shots and pounded out the decision by scores of 60-54; 60-54 and 59-55.

In a four round ladies bout, Nydia Feliciano spoiled the professional debut of Mikalya Nebal by scoring a four round unanimous decision in a Super Bantamweight bout.

Castillo (16-11, 10 KO’s) of Atlantic City, NJ via Ecuador is a cagey veteran who has faced nothing but the top of the division as he has shared the ring with the likes of world champions Jorge Castro, Jean Marc Mormeck, Oleg Maskaev, Alexander Povetkin & Bruce Seldon; Title challenger Eddie Chambers as well as top contenders Chazz Witherspoon, Travis Kauffman and Derek Rossy.
