Warriors Logo

Warriors Boxing is proud to announce the signing of Chicago lightweight Jose Felix Quezada (3-0, 2 KOs) to a promotional agreement.

19-year-old Quezada is an enormous fan-favorite locally and a three-time State Silver Gloves Champion, three-time Chicago City-Wide Champion, two-time Regional Silver Gloves Champion, and the 2009 National Junior Golden Gloves Champion.

As a professional, the talented Quezada has stopped two of his three professional opponents.

"Jose Felix has it all," said Leon Margules, President of Warriors Boxing. "He has the fighting talent, the looks and the brains to become a mainstream media star and we're very proud he chose to join our team."

Quezada joins undefeated Eddie Ramirez (5-0, 3 KOs) on Warriors' growing list of the Windy City's best up-and-coming talent.

"We're making an investment in Chicago and putting together a stable of its best fighters," continued Margules. "When you pair our guys, Jose Felix Quezada and Eddie Ramirez, with Semajay Thomas and Alex Martin, you can put all the top fighters in Chicago on one show, which is what we had July 25 and will again."

"I'm very excited to have signed this kid and looking forward to bringing him back as soon as possible," said Warriors Boxing's Luis DeCubas. "Given his background of half-Mexican and half-Filipino, he's very marketable not only in the Midwest, but also on the West Coast. I'd like to thank Jose's manager, Rick Ramos, for helping put this terrific deal together."

Margules says Quezada's next opponent will be announced shortly, but he will be the type of opponent needed to craft a world champion. "Jose will come up through the ranks the right way: against opponents who push him. I fully expect he'll become nationally known before too long."

JULIAN RAMIREZ TO FACE CARLOS RODRIGUEZ IN THE GOLDEN BOY LIVE! CO-MAIN EVENT FROM THE UIC PAVILION IN CHICAGO ON MONDAY, APRIL 14

Ramirez vs. Rodriguez To Air Before The Night's Main Event Featuring
Ronny Rios vs. Andrew Cancio Live On FOX Sports 1 And FOX Deportes

CHICAGO (Mar. 24) - As "The Windy City" prepares for Golden Boy Live! to make its Chicago debut at the UIC Pavilion on Monday, April 14, an exciting co-main event has been added featuring featherweight phenom Julian "El Camaron" Ramirez against Mexico's Carlos Rodriguez in an eight round fight on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes in an eight-round featherweight showdown.  The card is headlined by a 10 round junior lightweight clash between Ronny Rios and Andrew "Chango" Cancio.

"Everyone in boxing sees Julian Ramirez as having tremendous talent and potential, but for him to make it to the next level, he has to win this fight against a tough veteran in Carlos Rodriguez," said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions.

Fighting out of East Los Angeles, Julian Ramirez' (10-0, 6 KOs) skills in the ring have made him a fan favorite.  A speedy southpaw with fight-ending power, the 20-year-old "El Camaron" is coming off of an impressive eight-round win over noted spoiler Derrick Wilson in January that proved Ramirez is ready for a veteran like Rodriguez.

Los Mochis, Sinaloa's Carlos Rodriguez (22-13-3, 10 KOs) is a rugged competitor who brings the heat every time he steps into the ring.  A professional for over 12 years, he earned two regional titles at flyweight before moving up in weight.  Winner of six of his last nine matches, Rodriguez looks to put a dent in Ramirez' future plans should he win their bout on April 14.

Now it's time to deliver in his first Golden Boy Live! main event and he's ready for the challenge.

Local standouts featured on what is shaping up to be an exciting undercard include Harvey's Jose Arambula(6-0, 3 KOs), who will be facing off in a six-round lightweight bout against Milwaukee's David Diaz (4-0-1, 2 KOs), 19-year-old lightweight phenom Jose Felix Quezada (1-0, 1 KO) of Alsip, who stole the show earlier this month with a magnificent professional debut at the Pavilion, six-time Chicago Golden Gloves champion Kristen Gearhart (3-0, 1 KO) of Oak Park, lightweight Jose Romero (1-1) and super middleweight Israel Echevarria (2-2, 2KOs) of Chicago.
