Gonzalez upsets Oliveira Foreman registers 1st KO since 2006 'Knockout Night at Hard Rock Live'

For Immediate Release

OFFICIAL RESULTS
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (November 12, 2013) - Mexican invader Norberto "Demonio" Gonzalez (20-2, 13 KOs) upset hometown favorite Michael "The Brazilian Rocky" Oliveira (21-2, 16 KOs) in the main event of tonight's "Knockout Night at Hard Rock Live" card, presented by MO Productions, at Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Gonzalez' quick hands overcame Oliviera's power for a unanimous 10-round decision (97-91, 97-91, 96-92) victory in a very entertaining fight.  Oliveira dropped Gonzalez in the second round with a right cross, but Gonzalez closed the show in the 10th, sending Oliveira to the canvas.  The tough 23-year-old Brazilian, rated No. 7 by the WBA and No. 11 by the WBC, beat the 10-count right before the final bell.

In the co-feature, former World Boxing Association (WBA) junior middleweight Yuri Foreman (32-2, 9 KOs) registered his first knockout since 2006, blasting out Mexican opponent Javier "Pelon" Gomez (14-12, 10 KOs) with a perfectly placed left hook at1:56 of the opening round.  Gomez went down hard and failed to move for a few anxious moments."

"It's been quite a few years," Foreman said about his impressive knockout.  "I pray that he's okay.  Now, I'm ready for a 10-round fight."

Fast-rising Cuban light heavyweight prospect Yunieski "The Diamond" Gonzalez (13-0, 9 KOs) overcame a flash knockdown to stop a game Jinner Guerrero (7-2, 6 KOs) in the eighth round.  Gonzalez unloaded a devastating, straight right hand that ended the fight in the eighth round.

Cuban featherweight Hairon "El Maja" Socarras (8-0, 5 KOs) kept his perfect record intact, pitching a six-round shutout for a unanimous decision win against former world title challenger Jhon Alberto Molina (32-27-3, 20 KOs).

Another unbeaten Cuban, southpaw Vilier Gonzalez (6-0, 4 KOs), floored super middleweight Marcus "The Gatekeeper" Brooks (7-15-1, 3 KOs) at the end of the second round, after which Brooks failed to answer the bell for the third.

Heavyweight Robert Alfonso (3-0), a 2008 Cuban Olympian, remained undefeated, defeating Jamal "Knockout" Woods (3-9-1, 3 KOs) by way of a four-round decision.

Bahamian lightweight Valentino Knowles improved his record to 2-0 with a unanimous four-round decision over Ruben "El Chino" Ozuma (1-1).

Cruiserweight Steve Geffard (1-3, 1 KOs) notched his first professional win against Jamel Burnside (1-1, 1 KO) when the referee halted the action in the third round.

MIAMI (November 6, 2013) - The comeback of former World Boxing Association (WBA) junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman continues Tuesday night,November 12, 2013 at Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Foreman (31-2, 8 KOs), rated No. 14 by the World Boxing Council (WBC), takes on Mexican invader Javier "Pelon' Gomez (14-11, 10 KOs) in the eight-round co-feature on "Knockout Night at the Hard Rock Live," presented by Mo Productions.

The 10-round main event showcases Michael "The Brazilian" Rocky" Oliveira (21-1, 16 KOs), rated No. 7 by the WBC and No. 11 by the WBA, against former Mexican welterweight champion Noberto "Demonio" Gonzalez (19-2, 13 KOs).

JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ ATTENDING "KNOCKOUT NIGHT AT THE HARD ROCK LIVE"

Hall of Famer Julio Cesar Chavez has confirmed that he will be attending "Knockout Night at the Hard Rock Live" to closely watch Michael Oliveira in action. The retired six-time, three-division world champion is the father of professional boxers Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. and Omar Chavez, who is a potential opponent for Oliveira in 2014.

"Knockout Night at the Hard Rock Live," presented by MO Productions, will air live onSporTV, a Brazilian Sports television broadcaster affiliate to TV Globo Network, and TNC in Argentina.

Nearly four years ago to the day (Nov. 14, 2009) of his upcoming fight, the 33-year-old Foreman dropped Daniel Santos (32-3-1) twice en route to a win by unanimous 12-round decision (117-109 twice, 116-110), to capture the WBA 154-pound title and become one of the few modern-day Jewish world champions.

In 2010, Foreman lost his first title defense to the great Miguel Cotto by ninth-round technical knockout at Yankee Stadium, followed nine-months later by a loss in Las Vegas to New York City rival Pawel Wolak, when Foreman was unable to continue fighting after six rounds.

A consummate boxer whose leg strength is critical, Foreman suffered a knee injury that eventually required surgery, which contributed to his only two losses as a professional.  Foreman was out of the ring for nearly two years, returning to win three consecutive decisions over Brandon Baue (DE6), Gundrick King (DEC6) and Jamaal Davis (DEC8) this past July.

"After two years of inactivity," Foreman explained, "I decided not to rush, taking my time to gradually build myself up to be better than I was before.  November 12th is an eight-round fight and, God willing, it will be very successful.  Then, it'll be a 10-rounder and after that, hopefully, I will be positioned once again for a world title fight."

An aspiring rabbi, Foreman was born in Belarus, moved to Israel, and resides in Brooklyn, New York.  He has taken an obvious liking to South Florida.

"This fight is a great opportunity for me in terms of the location," Foreman said. "South Florida has one of the largest Jewish communities in the US, so it's important for me to fight there and win impressively.  I recently visited South Florida to promote my November 12th fight and, I must say, the Jewish community was very supportive.  I want to put on a great fight for them."

Undefeated light heavyweight Yunieski "The Diamond" Gonzalez (12-0, 8 KOs), a former member of the Cuban National Boxing Team, faces former WBC FECARBOX champion Jinner Guerrero (7-1, 6 KOs), of Ecuador, in a 10-round bout.

In scheduled six-round bouts are unbeaten Cuban featherweight Hairon "El Maja" Socarras (7-0, 5 KOs) vs. former world title challenger Jhon Alberto Molina (32-26-3, 20 KOs) and Bahamian lightweight Valentino Knowles (1-0) vs. TBA (opponent to be announced).  Knowles was a silver medalist in the 2011 Pan-American Games.

Also fighting on the undercard in four-round matches are Cuban super middleweight Vilier Quinones (5-0, 3 KOs), a former World Junior Championships gold medalist, vs. Mrcus Brooks (7-15-1, 3 KOs), heavyweight prospect and 2008 Cuban Olympian Robert Alfonso (2-0) vs. Jamal "Knockout" Woods (3-8-1, 3 KOs), Egyptian light heavyweight Ahmed Elbiali (2-0, 2 KOs) vs. Borngod Washington (3-13, 1 KO), and West Palm Beach cruiserweight Steve Geffard (0-2) vs. Lamont Capers (1-2). Oliveira, Gonzalez, Socarras, Knowles, Quinines, Alfonso and Elbiali are all fighting out of Miami.  All fights and fighters are subject to change.

Tickets cost $79, $29 and $19*, all seats are reserved and available to purchase at Ticketmaster outlets online at www.myhrl.com, ticketmaster.com or charge by phone: 1-800-745-3000.  *Additional fees may apply.  Tickets are also available to purchase at the Brizilian Rocky Fight Club in Miami (7500 NW 25th St., Unit 4 - 305-436-0210).

Doors open at 6 p.m. ET with the first bout scheduled for 7 p.m. / ET.

Trainer Orlando Cuellar Running Four-Corner Offense at 'Knockout Night at Hard Rock Live'

November 12 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida

(L-R) -- Vilier Quinonez, Michael Oliveira, Orlando Cuellar, Valentino Knowles and Yunieski Gonzalez

MIAMI (October 31, 2013) - Veteran boxing trainer Orlando Cuellar will be working his own version of the four-corner offense at "Knockout Night at the Hard Rock Live," presented by MO Productions, on Tuesday night, November 12, 2013 at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Cuellar will be the chief second for four foreign-born, Miami-based fighters in action: Brazilian junior middleweight Michael "The Brazilian Rocky" Oliveira (21-1, 16 KOs), Cuban light heavyweight Yunieski "The Diamond" Gonzalez (12-0, 8 KOs), Bahamian super featherweight Valentino Knowles (1-0) and Cuban super middleweight Vilier Quinonez (5-0, 3 KOs).

"It could be difficult training four different fighters for one show," said Cuellar, who is best known as world champion Glen Johnson's trainer.  "Each of these fighters have a difference style that needs to be incorporated in the fight.  This is a little more complex than normal, remembering who is fighting who, what strategy we need to talk about and techniques we have to work on during sparring sessions and training.  I'm looking for holes in our opponents' armor and how my fighters protect themselves.  I'm also been dealing with different managers, too.

"This is going to be a long night for me.  I need to work hard, even during fights between fights I'm working, when I'll be warming up my fighters and getting them ready to go into the ring.  I need to save my energy for the last fight of the night (Oliveira's), which, of course, presents the most danger.  I have four gifted fighters, three who were decorated amateur boxers (all but Oliveira), so we should have the upper hand in each fight."

"Knockout Night at the Hard Rock Live" will air live on SporTV, a Brazilian Sports television broadcaster affiliate to TV Globo Network, and TNC in Argentina.

Oliveira, rated No. 7 by the World Boxing Council (WBC) and No. 11 by the World Boxing Association (WBA), is the reigning Fecarbox and World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedebol junior middleweight champion.  The 23-year-old Oliveira faces former Mexican welterweight champion Noberto "Demonio" Gonzalez (19-2, 13 KOs) in the 10-round main event.

"Michael is fighting a typically tough Mexican guy who is a good fighter that has been in with good fighters," Cuellar spoke about Oliveira.  "We wanted Michael to be in a good fight.  This guy isn't going away and Michael is going to have to make adjustments during the fight.  After this fight, we'll know if Michael has taken a step or two forward, using this fight as measuring stick for him.  I feel, after this fight, he'll only be one or two fights away from a very big fight.

"Three years ago, when I first got him, Michael was like a barroom brawler.  He's learned different types of defenses, works the head and body, knows how to cut off the ring, and has added to his offensive attack.  He's a more rounded fighter to go with being very tough.  The better opposition he fights, the more he grows. He's experiencing different styles instead of hearing me talking about 'em.  It's all part of the process.  Michael's picking up different things and that's coming from experience."

In the eight-round co-feature, former world champion Yuri Foreman (31-2, 8 KOs) faces Mexican knockout artist Javier "Pelon" Gomez (14-11, 10 KOs).  One of the few modern-day Jewish world champions, WBC No. 14 ranked Foreman is an aspiring rabbi who was born in Belarus, moved to Israel, and resides in Brooklyn, New York.

Gonzalez, a former member of the Cuban National Boxing Team, takes in former WBC FECARBOX champion Jinner Guerrero (7-1, 6 KOs), of Ecuador, in a 10-round fight.

"Gonzalez is a (Gennady) Golovkin-type fighter," Cuellar claimed.  "He likes to get inside and set-up his opponent for the big punch.  He is a pressure fighter who wants to make things happen right away; an action fighter who checks his opponent's chin and body.  Yunieski had a Knockout of the Year fight (March 15, 2013) when he pulverized Rowland Bryant.  This is a risky fight because we don't know too much about his opponent, who has six knockouts in seven wins."

Knowles (1-0) was a standout Bahamian amateur boxer, capturing a gold medal at the 2010 CAC Games, as well as a silver medal at the 2011 Pan-American Games. The 26-year-old will be in his first scheduled six-round bout against Adriano Capo (0-1-1), fighting out of West Palm Beach, Florida.

"Valentino is a boxer-puncher, a very good boxer who has quickly picked up inside fighting," Cuellar noted.  "He is a good prospect, physically durable who loves to work hard.   Valentino has a good chin, fast hands and power when needed.  I have big hopes for him."

Quinones had a 275-28 amateur record, highlighted by gold and silver medal performances at back-to-back World Junior Championships.    He is in a four-round bout against an opponent to be determined.

"He was living in Chicago and we've only been working together a little more than one month," Cuellar remarked.  "Vilier is a work in progress.  He hasn't fought in a year but he's a tall (6' 2") southpaw with a great amateur background."

Also fighting on the undercard in four-round matches is unbeaten Cuban-born, Miami-based featherweight Hairon "El Maja" Socarras (7-0, 5 KOs), who takes on former world title challenger Jhon Alberto Molina (32-26-3, 20 KOs), a Colombian now living in Miami;   plus heavyweight prospect and 2008 Cuban Olympian Roberto Alfonso (2-0) and Egyptian light heavyweight Ahmed Elbiali (2-0, 2 KOs) against TBAs.

Tickets are also available to purchase at the Brazilian Rocky Fight Club in Miami (7500 NW 25th St., Unit 4 - 305-436-0210).
