Q& A with undefeated Cruiserweight Junior Wright

Brooklyn, NY (November 7, 2014) --Undefeated Cruiserweight Junior Wright
(12-0-1, 10 KO's) has been making waves and is climbing up the ladder to become one of the top contenders in the 200 lb. division. After defeating several undefeated contenders including undefeated Nick Kisner 12-0.

Junior Wright burst on to the scene with his Fight of the Year candidate with another top rated undefeated contender Steve Bujaj which took place on May 15, 2014 at the Millennium Theater in Brooklyn.
Wright, who is promoted by Star of David Promotions and regarded by many to be the top cruiserweight prospect in the world is looking to become a top-10 contender in the early part of 2015.

You just had a 3rd round stoppage over Lucas St. Claire in a "Stay Busy" fight on November 1 in Milwaukee. Talk about the fight?
St Clair was a big puncher. He has MMA and boxing experience. I train hard and prepare well for all fighters. I got a chance to work on some things we have been practicing in the gym. I hit him with straight shots, dropped him 4 times and got the 3rd round knockout.
Will you fight again this year?
We will try to get 1 more fight in this year before coming back to NYC on Jan 22.
Talk about coming back to NYC?
I am very excited to come back to NYC. It is where my biggest fight against Bujaj took place. Following that fight I had a lot of support from local media and boxing fans. NYC is a boxing center and I look forward to putting on a great show and making more fans. But I am really looking to get one of the belts. I am just trying to perfect my craft and fight the best in the Unite States and Europe. I want to win belts and defend them.
Steve Bujaj is on the the card on January 22nd. Will you keep an eye on his fight?
Not really, i will let the coaches do all that. I just take care of my business.
What are your plans for 2015?
My biggest goal is to fight on Showtime on HBO. I feel like I am close to getting there.
What Cruiserweights are you pin pointing?
European champion Rakhim Chakhkiev (2008 Gold Medal winner)---he is an awkward lefty..., Dennis Lebedev, (Former WBC Champion) Krzysztof Wlodarczyk ..He is Polish and would draw a big crowd in my hometown of Chicago, So i think that would be good business...We also would like to the winner of the Nathan Cleverly - Tony Bellew fight.
You are signed with Dmitry Salita's Star of David Promotions. How has that relatonship been?
Dmitry is the best! I like the way he operates. He doesn't believe in wasting time. He has kept me busy. Because of him, we have connections in the UK, Russia & South Africa. He understand a fighter and the importance of staying busy and getting better in the ring. I had 2 fights since August away from the bright lights perfecting my skills. I train hard and am getting better every day. I can't wait to get my opportunity!
Coach Rick Wilson..
Junior is an all action, worth the money to see fighter. Thats why we nicknamed him the Hurracaine. Whenever u see a newscaster at the front of a Hurricaine, u want to see that.. Junior can knock u out with either hand. We would be ready for Bellew or Cleverly. We want a few more learning fights under our belt and we know Dmitry can get us those fights with his world class connections...South Africa, Russia and the UK

Junior beat several undefeated fighters and we took chances early in his career because I know my fighter! We fought 1 world class fighter in his back yard...Jrunior Broke his nose and jaw and with shotty refereeing we still got a draw. We would have to had to shoot him to get a decision. Junior has fought nothing but formidable guys. 4 or 5 more fights we will be fighting at the highest level. With Dmitrys connections we hope to fight 1 of the upper echelon champion's. We will try to get another fight in before the end of the year and are ready to blast on to the scene big time!
Junior, do you have any final statements?
-Be prepared for the hurricane

Brooklyn, NY (September 19, 2014) Star of David Promotions is exceedingly pleased and excited to announce that Mid-Atlantic area fight fans will now be able to check out one of the contenders for 2014 Fight of the Year, the cruiserweight tussle between Junior Wright and Steve Bujaj. This bout thrilled boxing fanatics who saw the two men engage in the heated scrap in Brooklyn.

MSG Network will show that entire Wright-Bujaj scrap, and a ton more action from the early summer show put together by Dmitriy Salita, the fighter/promoter who is happy to be able to showcase his fights on the home of the NBA Knicks and the NHL Rangers.

Viewers can tune in on September 19th at 10pm and the show will also
run September 20th at 7pm.

"Junior Wright versus Steve Bujaj was the best live fight I have ever
seen," Salita said of a contest for which the WBC International
cruiserweight title was on the line. "It is rare that a fight lives up
to it's hype but in this case, it exceeded all expectations and then
some. MSG has a long and rich tradition of great fights staged in the
center of the world for boxing, New York City. I am grateful that MSG
will televise this show and New York City boxing fans will get a chance
to see what "Brooklyn Brawl" is all about.

"MSG Network is glad to team up with the Dimitriy Salita and Star of
David Promotions to telecast the thrilling fight between cruiserweights
Junior Wright and Steve Bujaj," said Ocean MacAdams, senior vice
president, programming, MSG Networks. "We are proud of the classic
fights we telecast on MSG, and this candidate for 'fight of the year'
is a must-watch for boxing fans."

Besides the main event fight fans will see world class prospects Steve
Martinez, a two-fisted closer who has trouble getting fights because
boxers fear his power; Dimash Niyazov, a slick stylist; and future
heavyweight superstar Jarrell Miller, who combines power and charisma
in a way which has some insiders tabbing him as a future heavyweight
champion. All are NYC residents climbing their way up the pro ranks to
a world title. Also, pay special attention to unbeaten Russian amateur
standout Alexey Zubov, now living in California, and fighting as a
cruiserweight.

"I fought on MSG myself, winning the Golden Gloves, and as a pro, the
fan recognition that it brings is incredible," Salita said. "I am
grateful that MSG will bring much needed exposure to these talented,
hungry New York-based fighters."

Undefeated Cruiserweight Junior Wright to take on Marlon Hayes this Friday night in Detroit

Chicago, IL (August 13, 2014) -- This Friday night at the Royal Oak Theater in Detroit, undefeated Cruiserweight contender Junior Wright (10-0-1, 9 KO's) will be back in action in an 8-round bout against Marlon Hayes (23-14, 11 KO's).

This will be Wright's first appearance since his thrilling Fight of the Year candidate with fellow undefeated Steve Bujaj on May 15 at the Millennium Theater in Brooklyn, NY.

The incredible Wright - Bujaj fight will be replayed this Saturday night on Comcast Sportsnet Chicago at 11 PM

Wright of Evanston, Illinois (just outside of Chicago)  will be looking for an impressive performance against Hayes, who has faced the very top competition which includes world champions and top contenders.

"Training has gone well and I am ready for Friday night,"said Wright.

"Even though Hayes has a lot of fights, I really do not know much on him.  I do a lot of stuff instinctively and I prepare for anything he can bring."

Boxing fans in New York are still talking about his epic war with Bujaj and despite the physicality of the bout, Wright did not take too much time away from the gym.

"I got back in the gym about a week and a half after the fight.  I knew I had this  fight coming up so I gave myself a good month and half camp for this."

Wright did some reflecting back on his classic with Bujaj and he thinks the two could meet again down the line.

"I felt I could have used my jab more  and probably used more head movement.  It was a good fight.  Even though most of the fans believed I won, a draw was just.  I wouldn't mind a rematch."

Wright is a recent signee of Dmitry Salita's Star of David Promotions and he believes that the former world title challenger is the right promoter to get him the big opportunities.

"Dmitry has good intentions for me and as long as I do well, I know he will get me the big fights.  I know that the Cruiserweight division is based in Europe, so I want to make the Europeans like Mayweather has had success with the Hispanic fighters. This Friday, Detroit should be for a Hurricane."", finished Wright.

Said Wright's trainer Rick Wilson, "There were some things in the Bujaj fight that should have been called like 8 or 9 low blows and an instance where we feel Junior was on his way of stopping Bujaj and the ref stopped it to give an 8-count but there is no 8-count in New York."

"We are  focused on Hayes.  He has fought world class guys and has gone the distance with them.  He is crafty who knows how to survive."

Like Wright, Wilson likes the direction that Salita and Star of David Promotions is going with him.

"I have a good feeling about Dmitry's vision and passion.  We want to become the American  Cruiserweight World champion.  In  2 or 3 fights down to road go to Europe and look for a big fight there.  There is a lot of opportunity as not only the champions are based there but the two guys in England in Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew are also on our radar."

Friday's show at Royal Oak Theater is promoted by Kaltsas Productions.

AMERICAN CRUISERWEIGHT CONTENDER JUNIOR "HURRICANE" WRIGHT signs with Star of David Promotions

BROOKLYN (July 8, 2014)-- Star of David Promotions boss Dmitriy Salita is pleased and excited to announce that Junior Wright, a cruiserweight contender from Chicago, has signed a promotional deal.

The 27-year-old Wright, a three-time (2006, 2008, 2009) Chicago Golden Gloves champion, came to the attention of Salita when he expertly fought Steve Bujaj on Salita's May 15 card in Brooklyn. That bout, a ten round draw while the vacant WBC International cruiserweight title was up for grabs, drew buzz for being a Fight of the Year candidate.

"Junior Wright is one of the best cruiserweights in the world," Salita said. "He is the kind of fighter the sport needs. From the early stages of his career he has shown the desire to fight and beat the best available fighters. His last fight was one of the best live fights I have ever seen."

Wright grew up in a Chicago neighborhood where involvement in gangs could have taken him to a dark place. Instead, he found boxing, and is looking forward to the push that  promoter Salita will give him.

"I am very proud to be American, for the opportunities that came my way as a result of my hard work and dedication," Wright said after signing the deal with Salita. "The great city of Chicago was home to our President, Barack Obama, and I am very inspired by that and want to bring the cruiserweight title to America."

Currently, the cruiserweight titles are wrapped around the waists of a Pole, a Russian, a Serb, and a Cuban-born boxer. Wright, who won the USA Midwest Regional Championship in 2010, promises to bring some cruiserweight buzz back to the US.

"Junior wants to fight all the champions, like WBA champ Denis Lebedev, WBO champ Marco Huck and WBC champ Krzysztof Wlodarczyk," Salita said. "The plan is to get him a title shot, and let him work his magic."

Trained by Rick Wilson and managed by Steve Clemente, the fighter nicknamed "Hurricane" owns a 10-0-1 record, with 9 KO's. A rematch with Bujaj, probably will be on  premium network in order to give this duo the viewing audience they deserve, could well be in the cards, Salita said.  Wright's volume punching, rock-solid grasp of basics, above-average stamina, and fighting spirit won him a theater-full of new fans on the most recent Salita show, and that includes rooters for the New Yorker
Bujaj, all of whom applauded the Illinois boxer after the bell rang to end the fierce tussle.

Wright now has a reputation for besmirching the records of heralded fighters. Bujaj came to the ring with a 12-0 mark and Wright saddled him with a split draw. Back on August 16, 2013, Wright defeated 12-0-1 Nick Kisner, in Chicago. Salita expects that trend to continue from his newest acquisition..

Please check the Star of David website Salitapromotions.com for information on the next fight for Wright, and the other hitters on the growing roster, including heavyweight Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller, middleweight Steven Martinez and junior welterweight Dimash Niyazov.

Bujaj and Wright battle to a draw in Classic Fight of the Year Candidiate

Bujaj lands on Wright

BROOKLYN (MAY 20, 2014)-- On Thursday night in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, cruiserweights Steve Bujaj and Junior Wright engaged in a ten-round battle on a Star of David Promotions card which many in attendance regard as a legitimate Fight of the Year candidate.
Promoter Dmitriy Salita and the fans and media at the Millennium Theatre waited with anticipation as the scorecards were tabulated after the back and forth rumble between the New Yorker Bujaj and the Chicago-based Wright, with the WBC International Cruiserweight title up for grabs.

Wright and Bujaj
The judges called it a split draw, but more importantly for the fight fans who were there live, and the ones which will see highlights on a television presentation--details to come!-- of the eight-bout card, it was a classic scrap.

Neither man deserved to be tagged with their first loss, promoter Salita said afterwards.

"Both Junior Wright and Steve Bujaj are champions," Salita stated. "The fight lived up to expectations and more. Both guys showed world class skill and world class heart. They fought their heart out for the fans and for an opportunity to be recognized as among the best in the world... and now they are. These two cruiserweights are for sure the best in their weight in the US and in the mix with best cruisers in the world."

One man who saw the battle up close at the venue was manager Ivan Edwards, who made the 2011 Fight of the Year, a draw between his boxer, Pawel Wolak, and Delvin Rodriguez.

"I was ringside for both fights," Edwards said. "Bujaj versus Wright was much better. They went to war, both hurt each other. Two true warriors. Neither cared if they lived or died. This sort of fight is what fans want to see."

Michael Woods, the editor of TheSweetScience.com, who called the feature, along with analyst Nirmal Lorick, took to Twitter post-fight, and opined that a rematch should land on ESPN, or perhaps "ShoBox."

"The volume was incredible, the swings in momentum between Bujaj and Wright were intense, and each man had their fair share of moments," Woods said. "Absolutely, a rematch makes infinite sense, and I can state with certainty that these two boxers deserve an even larger audience next time."

Bujaj (12-0-1), who shrugged off a fractured jaw in round four, said he'd welcome another crack at Wright (10-0-1). He had surgery to repair the jaw days after the bout, but is keen to meet Wright again, for revenge. "I would love a rematch if TV buys it," he said. "I'd do better next time, because I'd have a real mouthpiece made for me, and I won't have to fight with a broken jaw."

Salita and Miller
Several other fighters also stood out on the superb card. Heavyweight Jarrell Miller was mobbed after his TKO2 win over Joshua Harris, and many in the crowd were buzzing about the 9-0 hitter, wondering if he can bring some heavyweight buzz back to NYC, in the manner of Riddick Bowe, a fellow Brooklyner.
Steven Martinez lands on Fernandez
Steve Martinez (15-1), a junior middleweight slugger, scored a TKO5 win over Antonio Chaves Fernandez, turning in another one of his fan-friendly performances. Martinez is a power puncher who looks to hurt his foe with every shot, and Salita is looking to insert him in a title fight in the not too distant future.
Dimash Niyazov
Classy prospect Dimash Niyazov, from Kazakhstan, and living in Staten Island, NY, rose to 6-0, with a UD4 over Jose Del Valle. Salita is high on Niyazov's longterm prospects.

Salita is already planning his next action-filled card. Log on to dsalita.comregularly for updates on the next Brooklyn Brawl!
