ONTARIO CA (July 1, 2013) - This past Friday June 28, Thompson Boxing Promotions "Path to Glory" card at the Double Tree Hotel was another great success.  In the main event, super bantamweight Christopher Martin (27-2-3, 9 KOs) continued his march toward his goal of fighting for a world title with a hard fought KO win against Raul Hidalgo (20-9, 16 KOs).

Both fighters had their moments in the early rounds but it was Hildago who was landing the harder blows.  Martin had to dig deep to get them momentum back in his favor after it was evident that he was down in the fight.  Entering the fifth round, Martin started to put his punches together and Hildago was on the receiving end of some powerful combinations that had him hurt.  A hard punch to the body from Martin put Hildago down and the fight was over.  The bout was stopped at the 2:37 mark of round five.

"This was a tough fight but one I needed to win and that's exactly what I did." said Martin. "Hildago proved to be a very durable opponent but once I started to land my combinations I can see I was hurting him.  I landed a nice body shot and the referee stopped the fight.  I'm happy with my performance and I'm looking forward to my next fight."

"Christopher is riding a nice four-fight winning streak and he's put himself in a great position," said Thompson Boxing's Alex Camponovo. "If he continues to win, I can see him fighting for a world title by the end of the year.  We'll get together with his team and present him with a few different options."

  

In the co-main event, featherweights Efrain Esquivias (16-2-1, 9KOs) and Victor Sanchez (5-6-2, 2KOs) had their fight stopped early after an accidental clash of heads forced the referee to halt the bout at the 2:22 mark of round two.  The bout was ruled a technical draw.

Jr. Welterweight Giovanni Santillan (9-0, 5 KOs) defeated Adam Ealoms (3-4-3, 1 KO) by way of a six-round unanimous decision.  All three judges scored the bout 60-54 in favor of Santillan. 

  

In a four round bantamweight contest, Daniel Roman (6-1-1, 2 KOs) defeated Manuel Ruvalcaba (1-5) by way of a four-round unanimous decision.  All three judges scored the bout 40-35 for Roman.

Middleweight Joshua Conley (7-0, 6KOs) remained undefeated with an impressive knockout victory over Roberto Lara (0-4).  The bout was scheduled for six-rounds.

Heavyweight Justin Goslee (1-0, 1 KO) was victorious in his pro debut defeating Jose Hermosillo (0-1) by knockout.  Hermosillio was dropped three times before the referee stopped the bout at the 2:14 mark of round one.

Thompson Boxing Promotions Presents Path To Glory June 28 in Ontario, CA

ORANGE, CA (June 20, 2013) - Thompson Boxing Promotions presents another edition of its electrifying boxing series "Path To Glory" taking place at the Double Tree Hotel in Ontario, CA on Saturday June 28, 2013.  The 8-round main event will feature Christopher Martin (26-2-3, 8 KOs) vs. Raul Hidalgo (17-8, 13 KOs) a match taking place in the super bantamweight division.  The co-main event will showcase Efrain Esquivias (16-2, 9 KOs) vs. Victor Sanchez (5-6-1, 2 KOs) in an 8-round featherweight bout.  Time Warner Cable Deportes will televise the event which will air at a later date.

In his last bout Martin defeated Jose Angel Beranza, a veteran of over 60 fights, to capture the vacant WBC United States (USNBC) super bantamweight title, a match he won by unanimous decision.  Christopher is currently riding a 3-fight winning streak and looks to continue marching toward a world title shot.

His opponent Victor Sanchez is coming of an impressive victory against Richard Contreras (10-2-1, 9 KOs).  Esquivias is not looking past Sanchez and plans to use his superior boxing skills to win this fight."

JOEL DIAZ JR. SCORES 5TH ROUND TKO IN HOUSTON TEXAS

April 4, 2013 - Undefeated super-featherweight prospect Joel Diaz Jr. (12-0, 11 KOs) continued to impress the boxing world with another knockout victory on the Lou Savarese promoted show that took place at the Bayou Event Center in Houston, Texas.  The latest fighter to suffer defeat to the hands of Diaz was Houston native, Victor Sanchez (4-6-1, 1 KO), who had previously never been stopped.  Diaz was punishing Sanchez for the better part of the fight before the referee halted the bout in the 5th round.  Diaz was awarded a TKO victory and improved on his unbeaten record.

"After being out of the ring for a few months I was really eager to let my hands go tonight," said an energized Joel Diaz Jr. "Sanchez was a very tough fighter and I give him a lot of credit going five tough rounds with me. He showed a lot of heart, but I wasn't going to be denied tonight.  I'm ready to take my career to the next level. JOEL DIAZ JR. MAKES HIS 2013 DEBUT ON APRIL 4TH

March 27, 2013 - Junior lightweight prospect Joel Diaz Jr. (11-0, 10 KOs) is healthy and ready to make his 2013 debut on April 4th at the Bayou Event Center in Houston, Texas against Victor Sanchez (4-5-1, 1 KO).

Diaz was scheduled to face Tyler Asselstyne on February 8th in the co-feature of ESPN Friday Night Fights until he was sidelined with a wrist injury. The injury is healed and Diaz is ready to resume his impressive campaign towards the top of his division.

Diaz is an exceptionally popular prospect amongst boxing fans; his fighting style seems to resonate with the type of fans that expect entertainment and excitement. The injury caused layoff is one of the longest in Diaz's career -- dating back to only his 3rd pro fight -- and with his fans use to seeing him compete on a regular basis, Diaz felt the need to get back to action as quickly as his body would allow him.

"It was frustrating to be out of action because I'm a fighter and it's unnatural for me to not be preparing for a fight. I've kept my body in shape, but I was limited with the boxing stuff and even though I was doing everything I could physically do it's still not the same when you're able to train 100%. It just got irritating having to explain why I was out and when my next fight would be, all I wanted to do was get back in the ring for all my supporters," Diaz said.

Diaz took this fight without hesitation and he was able to get back on track by staying disciplined during his hiatus. His goal for this fight is to get back to the fundamentals and he knows he can't get over anxious.

"I'm really excited to get in the ring and I badly want to make a statement against my opponent. At the same time, I don't want to let the excitement get the best of me because that's how you make mistakes. I'll just go in there and execute my game plan like any other time, but I'll be a little more enthusiastic than normal."
