Margules Congratulates Barthelemy and Acevedo

Photos by Raymond Spencer Leon Margules of Warriors Boxing wishes to congratulate two of his fighters, Cuban power-punching sensation Rances "Kid Blast" Barthelemy (15-0, 11 KOs) and future super middleweight world champion Roberto Jose Acevedo (3-0, 2 KOs) for their impressive victories on Friday night at the Texas Station Gambling Hall & Hotel in Las Vegas. In an ESPN Friday Night Fights nationally televised super featherweight battle of unbeaten young fighters, Barthelemy jumped into the mix as a world contender by dominating Hylon Williams Jr. via eight-round unanimous decision. Barthelemy was much too big and strong for Williams, as he clubbed away with hooks and crosses to the head and body and simply walked through any return fire on his way to an 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73 victory. On the undercard, proud Puerto Rican Acevedo defeated Las Vegas resident Velvet Malone via TKO 4 (1:44). After an entertaining first three rounds, the punishing Acevedo finally finished off his opponent with devastating back-to-back left-right combinations that left Malone virtually defenseless. "Rances showed the world he is a force to be reckoned with in his division tonight," said event co-promoter Margules. "Hylon Williams was an excellent opponent with a strong amateur background, but Rances was unstoppable. It's easy to picture him doing that to all his opponents. He's amazingly big and strong for his weight. I am very proud of his performance and I think the fans will definitely want another look at him after what he did tonight." Margules also says Acevedo's fight was an important one in his development. "Malone came to fight and Roberto responded the way a true champion should. He kept it entertaining and let his superior firepower wear down his opponent. When you have a young fighter who may someday become someone in boxing, you put him in easy to start his career. Roberto is a thoroughbred. We are putting him in right away with guys who will fight back hard, so that he can develop into the champion he was meant to be. I'm very happy with how he responded to such a game opponent tonight."
