The United Mixed Martial Arts Organization is pleased to present the Athletic Program of Mixed Martial Arts for schools, colleges, and universities.
The United Mixed Martial Arts Organization (UMMAO) is a non-profit 501c3 that was founded in 2011, as the sanctioning and regulatory body of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Athletic Programs in schools, colleges, and universities. The UMMAO is also providing the proper training and competition equipment, through Millennium Martial Arts Supply, as well as the necessary curriculum and certification courses for instructors. In doing so, the UMMAO can help to ensure that the Program is performed in the safest and most encouraging way possible.
Mixed Martial Arts embodies discipline, respect, and honor. With these values at the heart of this elite sport, it is no surprise that it has become the fastest growing and most popular sport throughout the world. The UMMAO's Programs were built around teaching these core values and building character, in a safe and encouraging environment. By offering students a new avenue of personal development, physical training, and competition, the UMMAO is also able to provide schools, colleges, and universities with new ways to generate revenue, improve school morale, and raise the academic standard for student athletes.
The UMMAO's inaugural season of competition will begin in the Spring Semester of 2013, with a registration cutoff date of December 31, 2012. High School participants will compete in submission grappling tournaments while collegiate participants will compete in Amateur Mixed Martial Arts bouts under our modified rules and regulations. The UMMAO's Program also serves as a developmental program for Team USA MMA, which will be our Olympic Team for the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.
All potential Head Coaches must complete our certification courses to become a registered MMA Instructor. Student athletes must acknowledge that they will be held to a higher academic and disciplinary standard. The host schools, colleges, and universities, must designate an appropriate time and location to host practices and competitions. With the participant's adherence to our criteria, the UMMAO will donate 50% of its proceeds to help fund other Arts and Athletic Programs at each host school, college, or university.
