TSN 1050 TO AIR DALEY vs. DOUGLAS LIVE FROM MISSISSAUGUA’S HERSHEY CENTRE

Crucial Cruiserweight Bout Tops Historic Boxing Radio Broadcast

MISSISSAUGA, ON. (Friday, September 7, 2012) – United Boxing Promotions and TSN 1050 are making history Saturday night in Mississauga, Ontario when they team up to bring live coverage of the sensational all-Ontario cruiserweight battle between Brampton’s “Dangerous” Denton Daley (6-0, 3 KO’s) and former Commonwealth Games Heavyweight gold medalist Jason “Friday the 13th” Douglas (10-4, 4 KO’s) of Kitchener.

Veteran boxing broadcaster Jason Abelson and analyst Dave Turchett will call the action from ringside, beginning at 9:30 PM

“We’re so pleased to be reintroducing live boxing to the Toronto radio market,” said Don Macdonald of United Boxing Promotions.

“I really wanted to deliver the drama of a great fight back to the airwaves, and the people at TSN 1050 shared my vision. I can’t think of a better radio partner for United Boxing Promotions. And we’re hoping this Saturday will be just the beginning.”

Both Daley and Douglas have a lot at stake Saturday, with the winner becoming the next in line for Canadian champion Ryan Henney, while the loser has to regroup back at square one.

“Daley and Douglas have taken divergent paths to get to this fight, and each have so much riding on the outcome,” said Abelson.

“Daley is the young prospect looking to keep climbing the boxing ladder, while Douglas is muddling through a pro career that has really fallen well short of what many expected after being such a decorated amateur. This is Daley’s first chance, and Douglas’ last chance. I can’t think of a more dramatic scenario for the first main event on TSN 1050.”

Tickets to United Promotion’s Full Throttle, on Saturday, September 8th, start at just $30.00, and are available at TicketMaster, or at the Hershey Centre box office.

As good as the main event is on September 8th, the undercard is just as mouthwatering.

Ajax, Ontario’s exciting Brandon “Bad Boy” Cook (6-0, 3 KO’s) faces tough Israeli Danny Metzer (3-1, 1 KO) in a middleweight showdown.

Former Canadian Welterweight champion Tebor Brosch (6-3-5, 2 KO’s) is coming down two weight divisions to face tough Hungarian lightweight Gyorgy Mizsei Jr. (8-1, 4 KO’s).

Belleville, Ontario’s heavyweight showman Dillon “Big Country” Carmen (3-1, 2 KO’s) looks to wow the Hershey Centre crowd yet again, when he goes up against tough Alain Kashama (1-0).

And Hamilton, Ontario lightweight Steven Wilcox (2-0, 1 KO) takes a step up in competition against Budapest, Hungary’s Sandor Horvath (4-2, 2 KO’s).
