BU Ath. Dir. Mike Lynch Goes 1 on 1 with Takedown Wrestling's Scott Casber

Today Boston University Athletic Director Mike Lynch accepted my invitation to sit down and discuss the recent decision to eliminate the Boston University program after the 2013-2014 season.

No questions were pre submitted or screened by Mike Lynch or his staff prior to the interview.

Some of the questions asked (taken from the transcript)

Why dissolve the Terrier's program at this time?

Return on investment, At BU the ROI per student athlete, by my calculations is rather high.

Mike's answer may surprise you.

Who is responsible for the decision that was made to eliminate the program?

The buck may not stop at Mike's desk, it may be the President of the University that needs to be addressed regarding the elimination of the 50 year old program.

Will you look at all opportunities presented by alumni, students, sports leaders with regard to keeping the program?

The programs elimination is related to a multitude of considerations, the shifting sands of conference realignment seems to be at the core of his concerns and that of the athletic department.

If the Boston University Alumni, concerned citizens, athletes were able to come to you with a plan to continue to the sport at the University would you listen?  (Paraphrased)

Listen for the response

Listen to the Takedown Wrestling Challenge to Mike Lynch

What happens to the Orin Smiley endowment to BU Wrestling?

My thanks to Boston University Athletic Director Mike Lynch for this insightful interview.
