88th annual BWAA Awards Dinner Thursday night in New York City

Alvarado & Golovkin added to special guest list  NEW YORK (April 9, 2013) -- Fresh off of his sensational victory over Brandon Rios, Mike Alvarado will celebrate with the public when he attends the 88th annual dinner of the Boxing Writers Association of America, this Thursday (April 11), at the Capitale in New York City. It is only fitting that Alvarado should be there to soak in the accolades. His first bout with Rios barely missed out on being named the 2012 "Fight of the Year." The rematch is sure to garner many votes when all is said and done in 2013. Also announcing his plans to be in attendance is middleweight title holder Gennady Golovkin. The unbeaten Golovkin who is generally considered one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world is taking a well earned rest after having fought just last week, scoring an impressive stoppage over Japan's Nobuhiro Ishida Alvarado and Golovkin are the latest stars committed to attending what is called the Academy Awards of boxing. Also confirmed to attend are Nonito Donaire, Juan Manuel Marquez, Roy Jones, Timothy Bradley, Ruslan Provodnikov, Paul Malignaggi, Steve Cunningham, and Danny Jacobs. There will be ample opportunities to take photos, get autographs, and chat with the many celebrities in attendance. Dave Diamante the host of NBC's sports show "The Lights" will serve as Master of Ceremonies.               All ticket holders will receive a gift bag valued at approximately $125.               There are a limited number of tickets still available. Stars coming out for 88th annual BWAA Awards Dinner Apr. 11 at Capitale in New York City

NEW YORK (March 28, 2013) - A star-studded list of world champions, past and present, as well as many other boxing dignitaries have committed to attending the 88th annual Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) awards dinner on Thursday evening, April 11 at Capitale in New York City. Limited tickets remain on sale, priced at $200.00 per person, $150.00 for BWAA members. Tables of 10 are available to purchase for $2,000.00. A limited number of special VIP tickets are also available for $400.00 per person and $4,000.00 for a table of 10. VIP tickets include premium seat at dinner, photo opportunity with honorees, and a special VIP gift.   Credit card (Mastercard, Visa and American Express), PayPal, check and money order payments must be received no later than April 4, 2013. Checks should be payable to the BWAA and mailed to Boxing Writers Association of America, PO Box 153, Rockaway Park, NY 11694. In addition to 2012 honorees such as Fighter of the Year, Nonito Donaire, and Fight of the Year winner, Juan Manuel Marquez, a virtual Who's Who of boxing will be guests at the Apr. 11 gala affair. "The way things are starting to unfold this could be the best BWAA dinner in years" an excited BWAA president Jack Hirsch reported. BOXING’S BIGGEST NIGHT RETURNS TO GFL WEDNESDAY NIGHT

NEW YORK (June 5, 2012)—TOMORROW NIGHT!! The 87^th annual Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) Awards Dinner will be streamed LIVE AND FOR FREE!! On www.gfl.tv.

The awards dinner will take place from the Copacabana in New York City and some of the greatest boxers in the world will be honored.

Heading the program will be the awarding of the 2011 Fighter of the year to World Super Middleweight champion Andre Ward.

Ward had a stellar 2011 as he won the coveted World Boxing Classic with a terrific performance over Carl Froch in December.

Also in attendance will be WBC Heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko who will be presented James A. Farley Honesty and Integrity Award.  Klitschko and brother Wladimir are more than just world champions as they are true gentlemen and have done massive amounts of charity work all over the world.

Future Hall of Famer Bernard Hopkins will receive a special recognition for his breathtaking win over Jean Pascal last May to become the oldest man ever to win a world championship.

Hopkins’ good friend, Dewey Bozella receive the Bill Crawford Award for overcoming adversity.

Bozella spent twenty-five years in prison for a murder he did not commit only to make a successful pro debut at age fifty-two.

Ward’s trainer Virgil Hunter will pick up the Eddie Futch trainer of the year.

Delvin Rodriguez & Pawel Wolak will be on hand to receive the Fight of the Year from their scintillating fight that was ruled a draw last July in New York.

All of those great figures plus many other big names in boxing will be there and all will appear on the webcast for exclusive interviews.
