PETROV & MONROE JR. WIN BOXCINO, NABA & NABO TITLES

PHILADELPHIA (MAY 27, 2014)--Petr Petrov and Willie Monroe Jr. won the Boxcino 2014 lightweight and middleweight tournaments respectively as Petrov stopped Fernando Carcamo in round 8, while Monroe pounded out a 10-round unanimous decision over Brandon Adams at the Turning Stone Resort Casino.   Also in the process, Petrov and Monroe Jr. each took home the NABA and NABO titles as well.   The show and tournament was promoted by Banner Promotions and was broadcast on ESPN 2, ESPN Deportes and WatchESPN Petrov landed a nice right in round three. Petrov kept up the solid pace as he landed some shots inside the long punches of Carcamo. In round four, Petrov landed two solid uppercuts and a right hand on the inside. In round five, Petrov began to work the body with hard lefts that set off a volume of punches to the head.     Petrov rocked Carcamo in round six with a flurry of punches that had Carcamo stumbling around the ring. In round seven, Petrov began to pound away in spots before landing a big right hand in the final twenty seconds of the round. Petrov landed a huge left and right just before the bell sounded for good measure. The fight could have been stopped in between rounds but Carcamo came out for the 8th but it did not last long as Petrov landed a left and right and the fight was stopped 40 seconds into round 8. Petrov, 134 lbs of Madrid, Spain is now 35-3 with 17 knockouts. Carcamo, 135 lbs of Ciudad, Obregon, Mexico is now 17-6. "We had a game plan and it played out like we wanted,"said Petrov. "The key was my movement that kept him off balance. He never hurt me to the head, but I felt his body shots. This is a great boom to my career. I want to be big in the United States. This is where great events happen and I plan to have a great career here," finished Petrov. Said Carcamo, "This was not my night. He was the better man." Willie Monroe Jr. won the Boxcino, NABA and NABO Middleweight titles with a 10-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Brandon Adams.     Monroe Jr. was successful with his jab in the first three rounds. Late in round three, Adams landed an overhand right that set off a nice exchange on the inside. Adams came on to start round four by battling on the inside but Monroe put together some crisp combinations to close out the frame. Adams began round five working well on the inside only to eat some hard shots in return. Adams came back to land a flush right in the corner. In round six, Adams landed a good right hand that sent Monroe into the corner. Moments later, Monroe shot back with a good counter left. Adams got into a pattern of following Monroe around the ring and kept getting caught with combinations. Adams had a good round eight as he had Monroe against the ropes for an elongated period. Monroe was able to fight off in spots and land some solid blows. Adams continued to press the action but Monroe was deft at moving away and in round nine began to dance around the ring. Monroe Jr, 159 1/2 lbs of Rochester, NY won by scores of 99-91 on all cards and is now 17-1. Adams, 158 lbs of Los Angeles, CA is now 14-1. "That kid is strong as hell,"said Monroe Jr. "I knew he was strong, I just had to show him things that he has not seen. He shook me up a couple times." Vitor Jones De Oliviera registered a 4-round unanimous decision over Michael Jackson in a Jr. Lightweight bout. De Oliviera dropped Jackson with a left hook and round three and controlled the action throughout the fight. De Oliviera, 131 lbs of Salvador, Brazil is the nephew of Brazilian legend Acelino Freitas and is now 4-0. In a Heavyweight slug fest, Eric George picked up his 1st victory with a 4-round unanimous decision over Raymond Santiago. George bloodied Santiago's nose as early as round two and landed the harder shots which led to his victory by scores of 40-36 on all cards. George, 202 lbs of Niagara Falls, NY is 1-6. Santiago, 232 lbs of Albany, NY is 0-3. Marcus Hall scored an 4-round majority decision over previously undefeated Cesar Vila in a Jr. Middleweight bout. Scores were 40-36, 39-37 and 38-38 for Hall, 151 lbs of Rochester, NY and he is now 8-6-1. Vila, 154 lbs of Austin, TX is now 6-1. Samuel Teah scored a 4-round unanimous decision over Jeremy Graves in Lightweight fight. Scores were 40-36 on all cards for Teah, 137 lbs of Philadelphia and is now 4-0. Graves, 137 lbs of Niagara Falls, NY is now 0-3. Oscar Torres scored a 1st round knockdown en route to a 4-round unanimous decision over Cornelius Whitlock in a battle of undefeated Welterweights. Boxcino 2014 Finals now for NABA & NABO titles

Verona, NY  (May 21, 2014)--Once again the stakes have been raised for this Friday night's Boxcino 2014 championship bouts.   When the tournament began it was known that the fighters would be competing for the Boxcino championship belt.  Now two more belts will be on the line as the NABA and the NABO belts will be up for grabs when lightweights Fernando Carcamo and Petr Petrov do battle while in the middleweight finals it will be undefeated Brandon Adams taking on Willie Monroe Jr. will square off for the three titles.   The fights are promoted by Banner Promotions and will be televised live on ESPN 2. Boxcino 2014 spawns world ranked fighters and top contenders

Boxcino Finals set for This Friday at the Turning Stone Casino Resort LIVE on ESPN FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS

Verona, NY  (May 19, 2014)--This Friday Night, The finals of the popular Boxcino 2014 lightweight and middleweight tournaments will be held at the Turning Stone Resort Casino.   The fights will be broadcast live on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes & WatchESPN at 9 PM ET.     After 3 months of great action, 4 men will battle for 2 belts to be called 2014 Boxcino Champion.   In the lightweight finals, Petr Petrov (34-4-2, 16 KO's) of Madrid, Spain via Russia will take on Fernando Carcamo (17-5, 13 KO's) of Ciudad, Mexico.   In the middleweight championship, undefeated Brandon Adams (14-0, 9 KO's) of Los Angeles, CA will take on Willie Monroe Jr. (17-1, 6 KO's) of Rochester, NY.   Petrov reached the finals with a 6-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Fedor Papazov and a 4th-round stoppage of Chris Rudd.   Carcamo reached this point with a 2nd-round stoppage over previously undefeated Samuel Neequaye as well as a 8-round split decision over Miguel Gonzalez.   Adams and Monroe will be in familiar surroundings as they each won their semifinal bouts at the Turning Stone Casino Resort on April 18.   Adams scored a 4th-round stoppage over Daniel Edouard and then followed that up with his semifinal split decision win over Raymond Gatica on April 18.   Monroe went into the hometown of Donatas Bondorovas and took home a split decision.  In his semifinal bout, he boxed his way to a 8-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Vitalii Kopylenko.   "This has been a great tournament and these four guys have a tremendous opportunity on May 23," said Banner Promotions president Artie Pelullo.   "I want to thank ESPN for getting behind Boxcino and I know they have been happy with the fights so far.  These are two excellent match ups for the finals and we are excited to crown 2 champions."          A Full undercard will be announced shortly.   PHOTO CREDIT/SHANE SIMS-BANNER PROMOTIONS

Carcamo looking for 2nd dominant performance in Boxcino

For Immediate Release Philadelphia (March 19, 2014)--Back on February 21,  Fernando Carcamo (16-5, 13 KO's) scored the only knockout in the quarterfinal round of the Boxcino 2014 lightweight tournament. He will look to continue to that momentum when he takes on Miguel Gonzalez (23-3, 16 KO's)  in the semifinals which will take place on March 28at the 4 Bears Casino & Lodge in New Town, North Dakota.   The bout was be televised Live on ESPN, ESPNDeportes+ and WatchESPN beginning at 9 PM Eastern.   Carcamo of Ciudad, Mexico looked terrific in dispatching previously undefeated Samuel Neequaye in the 2nd round and now he turns his attention to the accomplished Gonzalez who has been on a roll as of late.       The performance over Neequaye did not just happen by coincidence as Carcamo put in the work needed to impress the audience who was watching around the world.   "It was all a part of the training camp we had.  It was the best preparation that I ever had and I was happy to materialize it with a knockout and it was even better that it was the only stoppage of the quarterfinals," said Carcamo. Carcamo respects Gonzalez but he feels that this fight should be another where he will have his hand raised at the end of the fight.   "He is a pretty good fighter but he has weak points and we will attack them and break his spirit."   Carcamo knew going into the tournament that it would be a great chance to showcase his ability and become a player in the lightweight division.   "I am just really motivated.  I know this will take me to a completely different level and get me really close to a title shot.  I am 100% into this and looking forward to this fight and want to give the fans what they want," finished Carcamo.

Gonzalez eyeing Boxcino and world titles

For Immediate Release Philadelphia (March 19, 2014)--Lightweight contender Miguel "Silky Smooth" Gonzalez (23-3, 16 KO's) is looking for big things in 2014.  First on his agenda is defeating Fernando Carcamo (16-5, 13 KO's) on March 28 at the 4 Bears Casino & Lodge in New Town, North Dakota as part of the semifinal round in the Boxcino 2014 tournament.   Gonzalez defeated Miguel Angel Mendoza on February 21 via split decision in the quarterfinal round and now looks ahead to the power punching Carcamo.   "Everything is great.  Training is good and we have been in camp since a week after the Mendoza fight.  I am getting the proper preparation," said Gonzalez.   Although Gonzalez won the fight, he wasn't totally satisfied with the fight due to Mendoza.   "I think the guy who I was in there with wasn't quality.  I can't judge my performance other than I was too quick for him."   Gonzalez is now turning his attention to the hard charging Carcamo, who scored the only stoppage of the quarterfinal round when he took out previously undefeated Samuel Neequaye in two rounds.   "Carcamo is a stand up fighter.  He is basic with a left hand.  We have had the right sparring for this fight and I am coming in with confidence.  I am here to win thistournament and he is just another guy."   "I see myself as the champion of this tournament and this will lead to being a mandatory contender for a world title." With that confidence level, Gonzalez feels he is the man to beat as the semifinals commence.
