'Final Fight: Cro Cop vs. Sefo'
FIGHT NOW TV Delivering Kickboxing History Saturday Live from Croatia
HOBOKEN, NJ (March 8, 2012) - Kickboxing star "Sugar" Ray Sefo is prepared to play the spoiler role Saturday in Croatia, where mixed martial arts legend Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic's career ends in "Final Fight: Crop Cop vs. Sefo," airing live on FIGHT NOW TV TM - America's only 24-hour combat sports and entertainment channel - to viewers across America.
New Zealand native Sefo (56-21-1, 38 KO), fighting out of Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas, is a five-time Muay Thai world champion and eight-time K-1World Grand Prix finalist, His more notable K-1 victims include Mike Bernardo, Jerome Le Banner, Peter Aerts, Bob Sapp and Stephan Leko.
Win, lose or draw this is it for Filipovic (16-7, 11 KO), a Croatian sports icon who has starred in the UFC, Pride, K-1 and Dream during his 10-plus year combat sports career. His more prominent kickboxing victories have come against Bernardo, Banner, Aerts, Mark Hunt, Remy Bonasky, Misashi and Sam Greco.
The 41-year-old Sefo, however, hasn't traveled to Croatia to be Filopovic's "dance partner" for his final hurrah. Sefo jumped at the opportunity to fight Filipovic, who pulled out of a 2001 fight against "Sugar Ray" a few weeks prior to the scheduled date. Make no mistake about it, Sefo's on a mission in Croatia to ruin Filipovic's retirement party, even going as far as to boldly predict a win by stoppage before all of the "Cro Cop" fans..
In 2007, "Sugar Ray" became only the second man, one of only five men to date, to knockdown four-time K-1 World Grand Prix Champion Semmy Schilt.Sefo believes that he's quicker than ever, due to his diligent work with a strength-and-conditioning coach, and a poor match-up for the slower "Crop Cop,"
Nine more great kickboxing matchups are scheduled on this once-in-a-lifetime card. Final Fight promises to be a first-class production every step of the way with Michael Buffer serving as ring announcer, actress Jane Park as event host, and former K-1 superstar Nobuaki Kakuda as referee for this exciting night of action.
