Famed Ref Richard Steele Hosts Heart of a Champion Fund Raiser; Boxing's Best Floyd Mayweather Jr Featured Guest

Las Vegas, Nevada, September 17, 2013 - Hall of Fame Referee Richard Steele has been the 3rd man in the ring in some of boxing's biggest fights of all-time - Thomas "Hit Man" Hearns vs. "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard vs. "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler and of course Julio Cesar Chavez vs. Meldrick Taylor and a handful of "Iron Mike" Tyson title fights just to name a few.

Although long retired as one of the best referees of all-time, Steele oversees the biggest fight of his life on a daily basis as he works tirelessly to keep the underserved youth of N. Las Vegas and surrounding areas off the streets and in a safe haven at the Richard Steele Boxing Club where he utilizes boxing as a tool to learn self-discipline and positive thinking as well as take advantage of educational opportunities and develop healthy lifestyles.

It's because of this daily fight, that the Richard Steele Foundation & Boxing Club will host their biggest fundraiser to date, Heart of a Champion, on Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 5PM - 7PM, at the Richard Steele Boxing Club in N. Las Vegas.

The Heart of a Champion fundraiser will be a mixer that includes an awards ceremony with state and local politicians and community leaders in attendance as well as none other than World Champion and the pound for pound best fighter in the world, Floyd Mayweather Jr.  Mayweather Jr will be the featured guest, one week after his dominating victory against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

"This will be by far my biggest event to date," stated Steele.  "We have to keep the doors open for these kids so they have a place to go and get the guidance and mentoring they need when they are not in school.  The Heart of a Championceremony will reward our kids that have excelled in the gym and in the classroom."

Steele is revered in boxing circles and because of this he decided to go straight to the top of boxing's food chain, Floyd Mayweather Jr., when he decided who to bring in for this event.

"I am so blessed that Floyd agreed to attend this event.  I have known him since he first came to Vegas and showed the promise of a future world champion and to now one of the best fighters of all-time."

Steele, along with former peer, Hall of Fame Referee Joe Cortez, who sits on Steele's board, plan to leverage their network in the community to attend this event with the goal in mind of raising  significant funds for the Richard Steele Foundation & Boxing Club.

A few weeks ago, the Richard Steele Boxing Club hosted an amateur event that featured 15 fights and packed the house.  Steele will continue to do these shows throughout the year and hopes to add a golf tournament and gala in the future.

"We have big plans for the future, but it can't happen without a big showing onSeptember 21st at our Heart of a Champion event.  I hope there are individuals and organizations that see the value in what we do and we are able to raise a significant amount of money to support our programs."

Steele added, "It sure can't hurt by bringing in the best fighter in the world in Floyd Mayweather Jr."
