MARVIN QUINTERO DEFEATS AL SABAUPAN VIA 9TH ROUND TKO IS NOW THE MANDATORY TO FACE MIGUEL VAZQUEZ

April 22, 2012 -- In an IBF lightweight title elimination bout that took place this past Saturday, April, 21 at Deportiva Centenario in Michoacán de Ocampo, Tijuana, Mexico's, Marvin "Cachorro" Quintero (25-3, 21 KOs), defeated Philippine native, Al "Captain A" Sabaupan (18-1-1, 13 KOs), by ninth-round TKO. With the win, Quintero is now the No. 1 contender and mandatory challenger to face IBF champion Miguel Vázquez (30-3, 13 KOs).

"I was not going to be denied tonight," Quintero said. "I had a great training camp and all the hard work paid off. Sabaupan was a worthy opponent, but my will and determination to win in front of my people was the driving force for me tonight. I'm very excited for my team because we are on a mission to win a world title together. And now I am the mandatory challenger to face Miguel Vázquez. I'll be ready for war when we fight."

Said promoter Gary Shaw, "Marvin is ready for a world title shot and tonight he proved he has what it takes to be a champion. April 16, 2012 - This Saturday April 21, 2012, Gary Shaw Productions in conjunction Zanfer Promotions present a lightweight showdown between two hard punching southpaws. Tijuana, Mexico's, Marvin "Cachorro" Quintero (24-3, 20 KOs) and Philippine native, Al "Captain A" Sabaupan (18-0-1, 13 KOs) square off in a 12-round IBF title elimination bout with the winner positioning himself as the No. 1 contender and mandatory challenger to face the champion, Miguel Vázquez (30-3, 13 KOs). The fight takes place at the Unidad Deportiva Centenario in Michoacán de Ocampo, Mexico.

"When you have two hungry fighters determined to become a world champion, it's always a great event for the fans," said Gary Shaw. "Both of these warriors are battling for the right to dethrone Vázquez, who currently holds the IBF lightweight strap. In addition, Mexico vs. the Philippines is always a heated rivalry which brings added excitement to the event. I don't think this fight is going the distance. Riding a four fight knockout streak and always working hard in the gym, Quintero is ready to take his career to the next level.

March 12, 2012 - Lightweights Marvin "Cachorro" Quintero (24-3, 20 KOs) from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, and Al "Captain A" Sabaupan (18-0-1, 13 KOs), who hails from Agoncillo, Batangas, Philippines, clash in a 12-round title elimination bout this April 14 at the Yñares Sports Arena in Pasig City, Manila, Philippines.



Quintero and Sabaupan, both hard punching southpaws, will battle for the No. 1 ranking in the IBF. The winner will get a shot at IBF 135-pound champion Miguel Vázquez (30-3, 13 KOs). This fight is promoted by Gary Shaw Productions in conjunction Zanfer Promotions.



"Quintero is a very hard puncher as is Sabaupan, so this fight is going to be a slugfest," Shaw said. "Marvin has four consecutive knockouts and I expect he'll come out swinging for the fences when he steps in the ring.
