Press Release

MISSISSIPPI (October 9, 2014) - San Antonio Texas' Rising star, Mario Barrios remained undefeated with an impressive 1st round knockout over Mexico's Abraham Rubio.  Barrios, who's managed by Al Haymon and advised by Bob Santos and Luis DeCubas Jr. improves his record to (6-0, 3 KOs).

After dropping Rubio with two brutal left hooks in the early part of round one, Barrios finished the job with a barrage of punches, forcing the referee to stop the bout.  With the move to featherweight, Barrios feels his power is much more effective.

"I feel real good at featherweight," said Barrios. "My body feels a lot stronger at this weight.  The goal was to fire my jab and land combinations.  I was able to land a couple of nice shots to the body that left Rubio open and I was able to hurt him early.  After I put him down for the second time, I turned it up and got him out of there.  I'm ready to get back in the ring when Al Haymon says it's time to go. I'm hoping to fight one more time before the year is over."

MISSISSIPPI (October 7, 2014) - 19-year old undefeated sensation, Mario Barrios(5-0, 2 KOs), returns back to action tomorrow Wednesday October 8, 2014 at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi.  Barrios, a rising star from San Antonio Texas, will battle Mexico's Abraham Rubio in a 4-round bout.  Barrios, who recently campaigned at Super-Bantamweight, will now fight at the Featherweight division.

"I've been blessed to have some God given attributes that give me an advantage against my opponents," said Barrios. "My jab is long and it sets up everything.  My combinations are getting better. It's an ongoing learning process but something I'm constantly trying to improve.  I feel if I continue to master the art of using my jab, I'll be unstoppable."

Barrios is managed by world renowned boxing advisor Al Haymon, believes his career is heading in the right direction.

"I have the best team in boxing," Barrios continued. "I'm excited to have Al Haymon guiding my career, along Luis Decubas Jr. and Bob Santos.  Everything is going as planned.  My goal is to continue working hard and bring exciting fights to the fans.  I'm going to give everyone watching in Mississippi a great show."

BAY AREA BOXING LEGEND LUIS MOLINA PASSES

275px-Luis_Molina.JPGApril 22, 2013 - Bay Area boxer legend Luis Molina, who was San Jose native recently passed away.  Molina was the cousin of Bob Santos who manages Six-Time and Four-Division world champion Robert Guerrero.  Molina was close to Guerrero and was the person who stamped the approval for Bob Santos to the young phenom in the amateurs.
Having competed many times in the South Bay as a professional, Molina is the only boxer from San Jose to have fought in the Olympics (1956).

In an era where there was only one champion in a total of eight weight classes, Molina worked his way to the No. 1 spot, but didn't get a title shot against Carlos Ortiz who was considered one of the best fighters of that time.

He died at the age of 74 and will be remembered by Team Guerrero and those who loved him in his hometown of San Jose California.

"Luis Molina was a great person and a good friend of mine," said Robert Guerrero. "I remember very clearly when he came to see me train at age 17 when I first signed with my manager Bob Santos.  My condolences go out to his entire family.  He will be missed by all who knew him."

"My cousin Luis was a tremendous person and fighter," said Bob Santos. "He had an incredible eye for talent.  Robert Guerrero was the last fighter he scouted and we all know where "The Ghost" is at today. I'm please that Robert had the opportunity to know him on a personal level because he gave Guerrero advice that is invaluable.  He came from an era in boxing that is gone forever.  May he rest in peace."

HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM ROBERT "THE GHOST" GUERRERO

November 21, 2012 - At a time when family and friends are gathering together for this year's Thanksgiving holiday celebration, Four-Division and Six-Time World Champion Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero is preparing for the biggest fight of his career when he faces former two-time world champion Andre Berto.   The bout takes place this Saturday, November 24 at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif., and will be televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing®.

Guerrero is a man who is no stranger to dealing with adversity and this Thanksgiving he reflects on his life and all that he is thankful for.

After Robert's wife Casey was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2007, Guerrero had to take on the difficult challenge of aiding her, while miraculously fighting at the elite level.  After finding a bone marrow match half way around the world, Casey is now cancer free, and the two are taking care of their children, Savannah Rose and Robert Jr.

"I'm really thankful to all of the fans that have been by my side throughout my career, especially when my wife was dealing with cancer," Guerrero said. "My wife is cancer free now and I'm truly grateful for the miracle that God has provided for our family when we found a donor in Katharina Zech.  My wife is the real fighter in the family and I'm thankful she's with me today."

Entering his most challenging fight to date, Guerrero is very appreciative for the golden opportunity that lies ahead of him when he faces Berto and puts his WBC interim welterweight championship on the line.

"I'm preparing for the biggest fight of my career and I want to thank my managers Bob Santos and Luis DeCubas Jr., my father and trainer Ruben Guerrero Sr., and the rest of my team, as well as my promoter Golden Boy and HBO for giving me this opportunity," Guerrero said. "I really want to thank God for putting good people around me that I can trust.  My team is incredible, they work hard to get their job done and now we are in the biggest fight of our lives.  Words can't describe how much I appreciate their efforts. My WBC title is at stake and I'm going to leave everything in the ring.

"Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and their families.  May the good Lord Jesus Christ bless you all with happiness!"
