13th annual Fight To Educate OFFICIAL RESULTS

MANCHESTER, N.H. (September 17, 2014) - Vermont junior middleweight Chis Gilbert (12-1, 9 KOs) edged previously undefeated Steven Matthews (4-1, 2 KOs) by way of an eight-round decision in tonight's main event on the 13th annual Fight To Educate Pro-Am show at Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Matthews, fighting out of Greensboro (NC), held a decisive advantage early in the fight until Gilbert caught him with a powerful right that sent him to the canvas for the lone knockdown of the evening. Matthews barely beat the count and was saved by the bell. The two fighters went back and forth the remainder of the fight in which the single knockdown was the difference (76-75 on all three judges' scorecards.

In the co-feature, Whitman (MA) super middleweight Mark "The Italian Bazooka" DeLuca (11-0, 8 KOs) scored a technical knockout victory, decking Gundrick "Sho-Gun" King (19-12, 11 KOs) with a vicious body shot. Referee Dave Greenwoodstopped the fight at 2:39 of the third round. DeLuca, who is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who was a machine gunner in Afghanistan, had hammered King with a relentless body attack from the opening bell.

Fight To Educate, presented in part this year by Matrix Aerospace, is a unique charity event that combines a love of boxing with the vision of assisting children and seniors in need who without fundraisers like this could be 'down for the count.' This year's attending "Legends" were former world middleweight champion Vito Antuofermo (50-7-2, 21 KOs), world heavyweight title challengers Chuck "Bayonne Bleeder" Wepner (25-14-2, 17 KOs) and Earnie "The Acorn" Shavers (74-14-1, 68 KOs), and two-time World Boxing Association heavyweight champion John "The Quietman" Ruiz (44-9-1, 30 KOs)

Portland (ME) super middleweight Russell "The Haitian Sensation" Lamour (10-0, 5 KOs) kept his undefeated record intact when Dennis Ogboo (7-8, 6 KOs) was unable to answer the bell for the third round.

Popular junior welterweight Brandon "The Cannon" Berry (7-0, 5 KOs), fighting out of West Forks, Maine, remained unbeaten with a first round stoppage of Theo "The Unholy Terror" Desjardin (0-4), of North Attleboro, Massachusetts. Berry, who is the only fighter to appear in the Fight To Educate as an amateur and professional, dropped Desjardin with a straight right hand. He beat the count but the referee halted the fight when Desjardon stood on wobbly legs.

In the amateur matches, light flyweight Jen Amato, of Keene (NH), won a three-round decision over Felecia O'Brien, of Boston, in the amateur Fight of the Night. Amato was selected as Boxer of the Night.

PRESS RELEASE
                      For Immediate Release

Vito Antuofermo, Chuck Wepner, Earnie Shavers & John Ruiz
MANCHESTER, N.H. (September 11, 2014) - Four boxing legends will lend their support to the 13th annual Fight To Educate (FTE), on Thursday night, September 18at Verizon Wireless Center in Manchester, New Hampshire.

This year's legends are former world middleweight champion Vito Antueofermo (50-7-2, 21 KOs), world heavyweight title challengers Chuck "Bayonne Bleeder" Wepner (25-14-2, 17 KOs) and Earnie "The Acorn" Shavers (74-14-1, 68 KOs), and two-time World Boxing Association heavyweight champion John "The Quietman" Ruiz (44-9-1, 30 KOs).

Fight To Educate, presented in part this year by Matrix Aerospace, is a unique charity event that combines a love of boxing with the vision of assisting children and seniors in need who without fundraisers like this could be 'down for the count.' During the past 12 years, Fight To Educate has raised more than $750,000 in donations benefitting local New Hampshire non-profit organizations.

Antueofermo captured the WBC/WBA middleweight title in 1979, winning a 15-round split decision over Hugo Corro. Italy-born Antuofermo, who lives in New York City, fought a draw with "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler before losing the title to the Brockton fighter in 1981 when Vito was unable to continue after four rounds.

The movie character, Rocky Balboa, was based on Wepner and his world title fight with Muhammad Ali (Apollo Creed), in the original movie. In their 1975 WBA/WBC heavyweight title fight, Wepner shockingly dropped Ali in the 9th round, only to lose by 15th round technical knockout.

Shavers is recognized as one of the hardest punchers in boxing history. A two-time world title challenger, he extended Ali 15 rounds in 1977, losing a unanimous decision in their WBC/WBA title fight, and two years later was stopped by WBC champion Larry Holmes in the 11th round of one of the most exciting heavyweight fights ever.

Past Fight To Educate legend Ruiz, who now lives in New Hampshire, defeated Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield by 12-roiund decision in 2001 to become the first (and to date the only) world heavyweight champion of the world of Hispanic heritage. Ruiz became a two-time WBA champion in 2003.

Past Fight To Educate legends have included Roberto "Hands of Stone" Duran,Tommy "Hit Man" Hearns, Aaron "The Hawk" Pryor, Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, Gerry "The Gentleman" Cooney, Vinny "The Pazmanian Devil" Paz,"Irish" Micky Ward, "Dangerous" Dana Rosenblatt, Michael and Leon "Neon" Spinks, James "Buster" Douglas and promoter Butch Lewis.

World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior middleweight champion Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade and former WBO middleweight title-holder Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin have fought in past Fight To Educate events.

This year's professional fights will feature Vermont junior middleweight Chris Giilbert(11-1, 9 KOs), Maine middleweight Russell Lamour (9-0, 4 KOs) and junior welterweight Brandon "The Cannon" Berry (6-0, 4 KOs), and Massachusetts middleweight Mark "The Italian Bazooka" DeLuca (10-0, 7 KOs) in separate bouts. Several amateur matches will open the action, showcasing many of New England's up-and-coming young boxers.

All fights and fighters are subject to change.

PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release

MANCHESTER, N.H. (September 4, 2014) - Unbeaten junior welterweight prospect Brandon "The Cannon" Berry (6-0, 4 KOs) has the distinction of being the only boxer to participate in the Fight To Educate (FTE) Pro-Am boxing event, sanctioned by the New Hampshire Boxing Commission, as both an amateur and professional boxer.

Berry will take on Fred Mandrachia(0-2), of Plymouth, Massachusetts, in a four-round fight in the 13th edition of theFight To Educate, to be held Thursdaynight, September 18 at Verizon Wireless Center in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Fight To Educate, presented in part this year by Matrix Aerospace, is a unique charity event that combines a love of boxing with the vision of assisting children and seniors in need who without fundraisers like this could be 'down for the count.' During the past 12 years, Fight To Educate has raised more than $750,000 in donations benefiting local New Hampshire non-profit organizations.

This year's attending Boxing Legends include former world middleweight championVito Antueofermo (50-7-2, 21 KOs), world heavyweight title challengers Chuck "Bayonne Bleeder" Wepner (25-14-2, 17 KOs) and Earnie "The Acorn" Shavers (74-14-1, 68 KOs), and two-time World Boxing Association heavyweight champion John "The Quietman" Ruiz (44-9-1, 30 KOs).

The 26-year-old Berry, who lives in Forks, Maine, will be fighting on the FTE card for the third straight year, the first as an amateur and last year as a professional. The popular brawler got a relatively late start in boxing, strapping on gloves for the first time in a match eight years ago at the age of 18. He ended his amateur career with a deceiving 18-19 record.

"I didn't realize how serious boxing is and a lot of my losses were at the beginning of my amateur career," the well-spoken Berry explained. "I also fought some of the best amateurs in New England, Tommy Doucette and Tim Ramos, to name two of the better known boxers. This is why I'm not shy about discussing my losing record. My style was always better suited for the professional ranks.

"I'm so thankful that the Fight To Educate people think enough of me to bring me back. As an amateur I took advantage of the opportunity to fight in the Fight To Educate as an amateur, especially fighting in a building like the Verizon Center, and then again last year as a pro. I hope to make this an annual fight for me. It's so special because of the magnitude of the building and the proceeds going to great causes. I sell quite a few tickets and I'm proud and very happy to part of it, especially where it's held in New England. I'm a proud New Englander."

The FTE has showcased two boxers who have gone on to capture World Boxing Organization (WBO) titles: undefeated middleweight Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillinand unbeaten junior middleweight Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade.

"I'd be lying if I said I hadn't noticed that Quillin and Andrade fought on past Fight To Educate shows," Berry added. "I'm not saying I'm in the same company, or as skilled as they are but, they've fought in the Fight To Educate, and so have I. They were where I am and maybe someday a young fighter will say they're fighting on the same card I did.

"If I hadn't fought last year in the Fight To Educate, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet Danny O'Connor. He's a great guy and we're in contact at least once a month. I'm also proud to be fighting on the same card this year with Chris Gilbert and Russell Lamour. I look up to them."

Vermont Junior middleweight Chris Giilbert (11-1, 9 KOs) will be fighting in the Fight To Educate for the fourth time. This year, however, he will headline against an opponent to be determined in the eight-round bout.

Portland, Maine's undefeated middleweight Russell Lamour (9-0, 4 KOs) will face TBA in the six-round co-feature. Also scheduled to fight on the pro segment of the FTE card is unbeaten Whitman, Mass. middleweight Mark "The Italian Bazooka" DeLuca (10-0, 7 KOs) vs. Zain Shah (5-3, 3 KOs), of Centreville, Virginia.

Two amateur matches featuring local boxers will open the live action. All fights and fighters are subject to change.

Proceeds from the 13h annual Fight To Educate will benefit SEE Science Center (www.see-sciencecenter.org), The Bobby Stephens Fund for Education (www.stepheneducationfund.com), and New Horizons for New Hampshire.

Tickets, priced at $50.00 and $25.00 (general admission), $10 tickets for Veterans and Senior Citizens 60+, are available to purchase at the Verizon Wireless Arena Box office, by going online at
