TAMPA (Dec. 18, 2014) - All five-time world champion Antonio "Magic Man" Tarver (31-6, 22 KOs) wants for Christmas is a signed contract to fight former two-division world champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KOs), ideally, during the first-quarter of 2015.
Tarver had been sending direct tweets for the past six months to Haye, who hasn't fought in more than two years, without receiving a response. Coming off last week's impressive seventh-round knockout of veteran Johnathan Banks (29-3-1, 19 KOs), Tarver has taken off the proverbial gloves and he is now publically calling out Haye, who insists, once again, that he is coming out of retirement.
"In a perfect world I will be fighting Haye early next year," Tarver said. "He keeps insisting that he's the second-biggest name in the heavyweight division I need him to be my set-up guy to beat in order for me to get a world title shot against Wladimir Klitschko. Haye has one-punch knockout ability and he's aggressive. Once I beat him, though, I want Klitschko. I will come to England and knockout Haye, knock him out cold. I'm 46, and I don't want to go through 12 guys like (Chris) Arreola, (Eddie) Chambers or (Steve) Cunningham to get Klitschko. He's waiting for me to lose so he doesn't have to fight me. I'm calling out Haye to get Klitschko. He talks a lot but the boxing world will see if Haye's serious about fighting again. Tarver vs. Haye is a huge fight in London.
"I'm a star and I want to get paid. None of these cats know how to really promote a fight like Antonio Tarver. I'd prefer to fight Haye in Las Vegas but I'll come to England to KO his ass! I have the most powerful adviser in boxing, Al Haymon, and I've told him I want Haye next. If Haye announces he's coming out of retirement to fight somebody else, I'll be at that press conference to embarrass him, the same way I had to get my (Roy) Jones (Jr.) fight. I'm a throw-back fighter who can make a pay-per-view bonanza fighting Klitschko and the way to get that fight is by knocking out Haye. I doubt he'll fight me because he knows he can't beat me. I want David Haye in the UK!
"No heavyweight can outbox me. They will have to knock me out to beat me and nobody's ever done that. I will become the oldest world heavyweight champion in boxing history to cement my legacy. I'm coming for Klitschko after I KO Haye. I'm going to shoot a real-life Rocky movie with me chopping down Klitschko."
Tarver also had some terse words for critics who complained during and after his recent fight that Banks was a weak opponent and their fight was a snoozer until the final round.
"I hit him with a quick 1-2 and then he wouldn't stand in front of me because he felt my speed and power early," Tarver explained. "He didn't want to get hit with my counter-punches. I wish he had opened up and fought but he didn't exchange blows. Boxing is the art of self-defense but I don't see fighters today using their heads. Boxing is chess not checkers. I can box but, when I pick that lock like I did in the seventh round, I can knockout any heavyweight in the world. I don't think I was hit with one good punch. My reflexes and timing, even at 46, are second to none."
Tarver initially suffered a now-fully-healed fractured thumb to his left hand, closer to the wrist, postponing the original September 29th fight date versus Banks. Tarver remained in the gym and put in the proper time and effort to stop Banks.
"We created tough sparring sessions to prepare him for Banks," Tarver's head trainer Orlando Cuellar commented. "We knew Banks was dangerous and that he could crack. We just kept training and Antonio had to overcome a lot of physical obstacles during camp. He just kept going. He tried to do the impossible and did it. He showed a lot of movement, the ability to explode, and tremendous ring generalship. He sure didn't look 46 the way he cracked Banks. And he'll be 50-percent better in his next fight.
"Antonio showed his dedication to improve in the gym. We had a good game plan but he had to do everything he worked on in the fight. His timing was good and he won every round. Banks came out planning to jump on Antonio but he tasted his power in the first 30 seconds and he then didn't want any part of it. He honestly exceeded what I expected and I didn't realize how good a finisher he is."
If Santa Claus delivers a contract for him to fight Haye, he may as well give Tarver another display case, as well, to store the world heavyweight title belt Antonio plans to capture in 2015.

Lopes ready for Weeks on Matchroom Fight Pass TV showthis Saturday
Don Charles’ London Cruiserweight hope Jose “The Look” Lopes has his second pro fight when he appears on the Matchroom Fight Pass Internet TV channel this Saturday when he takes on Portsmouth’s John Weeks (2-3).
Charles has high hopes for Lopes “I believe this young man will clean up the Cruiserweight division and will be the next David Haye”. Charles continued “He is still very raw but given time and nurturing he will turn out to be the real deal”.
Lopes takes on Weeks who comes fresh off a win last Friday and feels he has the tools to upset Lopes.
At the press conference Lopes was visibly annoyed at the assertions of Weeks’ trainer Michael Balingall that Weeks would win. “Tell your man I will just use my jab for the first minute and then I will turn it on”.
Watch the video here. “Is Weeks going to beat Lopes?”
The intriguing Lopes-Weeks battle is part of the 9 fight support to the two southern Area titles Johnny Garton v Adam Battle (Welterweight) and George Jupp v Craig Poxton (Suiper-Featherweight)
The action starts live on Matchroom Fight Pass at 7pm and tickets can be bought from www.goodwinpromotions.co.uk

Audley Harrison Un-retires; Cites Birth of His Son as Inspiration For Comeback Effort
Recently retired Olympic Gold Medalist Audley Harrison has announced his return to the ring immediately. Having announced his retirement on May 1st following his TKO loss to rising star Deontay Wilder, Audley has rescinded his decision and will return to the ring.
Audley and his wife Raychel recently added a baby boy the family, with the birth of Hudson Hugh Harrison on Thursday. Seeing his son born helped to finalize his decision.
‘Firstly, I’m grateful to God for this blessing with the birth of Hudson, a healthy and beautiful little angel. Raychel my wife is a trooper, as childbirth is no joke’.
‘When I made the tough decision to walk away from boxing, I knew it was not going to be easy. As the days past, I knew I would not be able to live with the decision. I wrestled with it for a few weeks, and spoke to everyone from the Boxing Board, to Lennox Lewis, David Haye, my dad, wife and many others…ultimately seeing my son born crystallized my decision’.
‘There is no way I am going to tell my son, ‘I gave up because I didn’t want to climb the mountain again, I didn’t want to dust myself off again, when I’m now in the best shape of my career, doing things I haven’t done for years, and back in love with the sport…how can I retire, when I know I have another shot in me’.
‘If I don’t get up and try again, everything I’ve stood for would mean nothing …’NEGU’, ‘setbacks pave the way for comebacks’, etc, etc, I believe it, so I have to live it, and go again’.
‘We all saw how the fight ended, which was not right. I can’t walk away with that performance. If I do, it would haunt me until I’m old and grey’. I got up, they should have let him come to finish me, and let me show what I got’.
‘People who worry I may get hurt, I thank you for your concerns. We live in a free society and my desire for freedom and autonomy is my universal right’.
‘Don’t know where, but see you in a ring real soon’.

Open Letter to the European Boxing Union
Niederkorn, le 03.10.2012
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen:
As you are aware, the Fédération Luxembourgeois de Boxe (FLB) lost its membership status of the European Boxing Union (EBU) – of which FLB was a founding member! – over the licencing of the David Haye vs Dereck Chisora fight on July 14, 2012 in London, England.
While we contend that this act was in truth based on the fact, that the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) wishes to discourage and discriminate other European national federations from licencing professional boxing in the United Kingdom – an illegal process by the BBBofC according to European Union free trade and monopoly laws, as we all know – the official reason given for the “expulsion” of FLB from the EBU was “that sanctioning Haye vs Chisora is not promoting boxing” (EBU statement)
In this context two points are important to know:
1 - FLB was never charged with violating any kind of rules, laws or statutes!
2 - The EBU’s ONLY object is to “control the different European Championships and to award the titles of Champion” (EBU statutes, Article 3). NOWHERE does it say that the EBU, by way of disciplinary or any other action, is entitled to interfer with national licencsing issues nor is empowered to claim as “facts” that certain bouts are “not promoting boxing”.
Conclusion: It follows, by way of logic, that FLB should never have been “expulsed” by the EBU in the first place as the vote was unfounded and unconstitutional!
In contrast, the true facts are:
· FLB ran the promotion in an exemplary manner. Everything was properly completed and personal insurance cover in place (something even the highly critical German federation BDB does NOT have!). The on-site representatives of both the WBO and the WBA complimented FLB on the way the show was run.
· Both Haye and Chisora behaved like exemplary sportsmen as well as gentlemen and showed complete fairness towards each other, actually hugging and chatting in the ring after the fight, proving a credit to boxing.
· The so-called “freak show” (a term implemented by Wladimir Klitschko!) led to the winner, David Haye, being welcomed back with open arms by the WBC, find inclusion into the WBC world ratings and a very likely world title shot. With this action, the WBC recognized the Haye vs Chisora bout and its result and the BBBofC by default as a member of the WBC as well.
· The so-called “freak show” led, by way of a side bet between the two boxers, to a donation by Dereck Chisora to a charity chosen by David Haye of 20.000 GBP. In light of this charity donation being made possible via FLB sanctioning of the bout, how ridiculous is it to talk about professional boxing being brought into disrepute?
· The bout, and especially the effort put forth by the winner David Haye, received worldwide coverage and acclaim in all kinds of media and to all intends and purposes transcended the normal boxing audience, more so than any other boxing match anywhere on this planet in recent memory; reducing the ONLY reason given by the EBU for the “expulsion” of FLB to utter absurdity.
· Dereck Chisora did not have a boxers license with the BBBofC, neither was he banned or suspended. He had been punished by the BDB and the WBC who confiscated 100.000 € from his purse against Vitali Klitschko for his actions. FLB was legitimately free to licence him. The attacks on Chisora – especially by Robert Smith of the BBBofC and Peter Stucki of the Swiss federation – were exaggerated and misleading. The BBBofC were aware of his criminality when they licenced him and he has not been in any trouble ever since then. His behaviour in Munich was regrettable, but he paid his debt.
· The WBO and the WBA – who both list the BBBofC as its member! – have endorsed the Haye vs Chisora bout and actually sanctioned it for minor titles.
· Non – not a single person! – of the BBBofC licenceholders, who participated in the Haye vs Chisora bout in a huge variety of functions faced any kind of consequences! No hearings, no disciplinary action of any kind, no suspensions – NOTHING! In fact, it stands to be expected that both Haye and Chisora may in the near future be re-licenced by the BBBofC or, in other words, welcomed back with open arms. Especially in the case of the winner, the BBBofC would stand to earn and benefit hugely from a future world title fight – due only to the fact that FLB licenced Haye vs Chisora!
For all those reasons outlined above, it is perfectly clear that NOT ONE ACTION undertaken by FLB in the licencsing of Haye, Chisora and their fight was in any way, shape or form detrimental to boxing, unlawful, illegal or against any statutes of any organization.
The only “crime” the FLB committed was to offend the BBBofC by abiding to the laws of the European Union and in full conformity with those sanction and licence a professional boxing event in Great Britain. Other national federations are making use of this lawful possibility since many years – the Austrian Federation readily springing to mind with dozens of shows sanctioned in Germany over the last years.
All EBU members, as well as the WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF, should be aware that the whole issue of “expulsing” FLB from the EBU was not about Haye, Chisora or their fight, BUT TO PREVENT FLB FROM OPERATING IN THE UK IN COMPETITION WITH THE BBBOFC, IN CLEAR CONTRAVENTION OF EUROPEAN UNION FREE TRADE AND MONOPOLY REGULATIONS!
Therefore, the EBU should without question excuse itself with the FLB for getting it totally wrong, for having become a tool for the BBBofC’s illegal attempts at monopoly for supervising boxing in the UK, and for taking the action it has taken, which have been proved as wrong as one dares to imagine.
We therefore request the EBU and its members to invite back FLB into the EBU with immediate effect, and confirm that FLB will accept the invitation.
Sincerely,
Pierre Back, President
Tonio Tiberi, General Secretary
PS: It is worth noting that at the first FLB-supervised promotion since the Haye vs Chisora show on September 29, 2012 in Neuwied, Germany, THREE member federations of the EBU gave authorizations WITHOUT RESERVATIONS for their boxers to compete, thus DE FACTO recognizing FLB as a bona fide organization! Namely, these three EBU members were Slovakia, Austria and – Germany...!!

Boxing Stars Lace Up Boots For 3rd Annual TRAD TKO Charity Football Tournament On August 12th
For the past couple of years around this time TRAD TKO Boxing Gym supremo Johnny Eames has taken a break, from the business of Boxing, to head up the team that organises the annual Boxers and Celebrities Charity Football Tournament, to raise much needed funding for the Indee Rose Trust, which provides support and care packages for youngsters suffering from brain and spinal tumours.
This year is no different, as earlier today Johnny announced the date and location for this year’s extravaganza - Sunday, 12th August at the Concord Rangers Football Club on Canvey Island, Essex.
For those of you that have yet to attend one of these excellent tournaments, boy have you missed out on a great day out, as well as the chance to watch some of the sport’s biggest stars in action.
The list of those that have taken part in previous events, many of whom will again be at Canvey Island on the 12th August, is a veritable who’s who of British Boxing, Music and Television.
Boxing luminaries, such as David Haye, Ricky Hatton, Nathan Cleverly Matthew Macklin, Kevin Mitchell, Ricky Burns, Barry McGuigan, Paul and Stephen Smith, Billy Joe Saunders, Willie Limond, Rendall Munroe, Anthony
Crolla, Graham Earl, Tony Oakey, Wayne Elcock, Ross Minter, Martin Power etc. have previously taken part, of which many will again be in action on the 12th August and joined by celebrities such as Alex Reid, Johnny
Borrell (Razorlight), Iron Maiden, Mark Wingett (Jim Carver - The Bill), Stephen Bell (Coronation Street), various of the Eastenders and Shameless cast etc.
These special events have proved a huge hit with the fans, with both the previous events raising in excess of Ł20,000 for this exceptionally worthwhile cause. A figure that Johnny, as well as the Boxers and Celebrities already signed up for this year’s event, will be determined to better.
On making the announcement Johnny, who last year himself underwent treatment for Cancer, said, “Yeah, this year sees the third annual TRAD TKO Charity football tournament, in aid of the Indee Rose Trust. Which, for those that don’t know, has boxers and celebrities taking part and raising money for children with brain and spinal tumors.
It’s a great cause, we’ve had a great response from the boxing community, as well as from celebrities from music and TV, for the first two years and this years been no different.
In fact this year’s been crazy, even though we haven’t press released it yet because we’ve been busy with other things, yet the phone hasn’t stopped, everyone, celebrities and boxers, want to take part.
The past couple of years we’ve had a proper who’s who of boxing turn out, the likes of David Haye, Ricky Hatton, Nathan Cleverly, Ricky Burns, Rendall Munroe, Kevin Mitchell, Billy Joe Saunders, Paul Smith, just to name a few, but the list is endless and if I’ve not mentioned you, I don’t mean nothing by it, there are so many of you that come and turn out for it and we really appreciate that you do.
Last year’s was fantastic, we raised over twenty grand again, which farexceeded anything we expected as we put it together over a three week period due to my treatment. But that’s made me more determined to raise even more this year really.
This year we’ve got Joe Gallagher bring his team down again, which I’m sure will have more players than it did last year. Billy Nelson’s bringing a Scottish team down, Nathan Cleverly’s bringing his own team down from Wales, full of Welsh fighters and celebrities. It’s a real four nations as we’ve also got Alio bringing the Irish boys over again.
Paul Smith and the scousers, who won the first year, will be back. Paul who like me is a patron of the Indee Rose Trust and does great work up in Liverpool for the kids - he likes to keep it low profile but we’re watching and know what great work you’re doing, it’s fantastic what you do kid.
It’s just a great cause and if you haven’t been before, you really should get yourself along there on the 12th August, it’ll be at Concord Rangers Football Club on Canvey Island.
Keep a check on the TKO website, my facebook page and for press releases to learn more about who’ll be there as well as tickets and stuff.
Look forward to seeing you all there.”
This year’s TRAD TKO Boxing Gym organised Boxers and Celebrities Footbal Tournament, in aid of the Indee Rose Trust, kicks off at 12:00pm at the Concord Rangers FC, Thames Road, Canvey Island, Essex on Sunday 12th August 2012.
