ROCKY JUAREZ VS. ROBINSON CASTELLANOS TO HEADLINE GOLDEN BOY LIVE! CARD AT COWBOYS DANCEHALL IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS ON JANUARY 26, 2015

FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE ELIMINATOR TO AIR LIVE ON FOX SPORTS 1 AND FOX DEPORTES

ROCKY JUAREZ SET TO ATTEND DECEMBER 8 CHRISTMAS IN THE RING CHARITY NIGHT OF FIGHTS IN SAN ANTONIO

SAN ANTONIO (December 4, 2014) - FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes' Golden BoyLive! welcomes the new year with a return to Cowboys Dancehall in San Antonio, Texas onMonday, January 26, 2015 with a main event that true boxing fans won't want to miss.  Presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Leija Battah Promotions, the WBC Silver Featherweight Champion Rocky Juarez (30-10-1, 21 KOs) defends his title against Robinson "Robin Hood" Castellanos (20-10, 13 KOs), in a 10-round brawl that will also serve as a WBC Featherweight World Title Eliminator. The stakes are higher than ever for two world-class featherweights coming off of spectacular wins in their recent bouts.

"It is not often that two veteran gladiators face off with one final title shot likely up for grabs," said Oscar De La Hoya, Founder and President of Golden Boy Promotions. "This is the last shot for two battle-tested fighters, and fans in San Antonio will get to witness first-hand what these boxing lions will do to make it back to the top."

A silver medal winner for the United States in the 2000 Olympics, Rocky Juarez (30-10-1, 21 KOs) is one of boxing's most respected veterans. After falling just short of world title honors over the years against the likes of Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez and Chris John; the 34-year-old from Houston has parlayed huge wins over Antonio Escalante and Rene Alvarado into a number three ranking by the WBC. On January 26, he has the chance to defeat Castellanos and earn the world title shot he has been waiting for.

Ranked fifth in the world by the WBC, Celaya's Robinson Castellanos (20-10, 13 KOs), rebounded from a rocky start to win 12 of his last 13 fights, rejuvenating a career that began in 2002. His victories include a decision win over former world champion Celestino Caballero in 2013 and his biggest impact was in October 2014, when he knocked out 23-0 Ronny Rios in the fifth round. Now he faces off against the granite-chinned Juarez with a world title shot on the line, and the 32-year-old veteran can't wait for the first bell to ring.

EACH FAN DONATING ONE TOY RECEIVES A TICKET TO CHARITY FIGHT NIGHT AT COWBOYS DANCEHALL

SAN ANTONIO (Dec. 1) - Christmas will come early for fight fans in San Antonio, Texas, as Golden Boy Promotions and Leija-Battah Promotions are pleased to announce that 2012 United States Olympian Joseph "JoJo" Diaz Jr., unbeaten Mexican star Ivan "Nino Maravilla" Morales and Fort Worth's Jose "Loco" Hernandez will headline a stacked card of Texan talent at Cowboys Dancehall on Monday, December 8.

"Christmas in the Ring" will arrive in San Antonio on December 8 when Golden Boy Promotions & Leija Battah Promotions present an explosive night of professional boxing. Gloves will fly as boxers take on opponents for the final time in 2014. This is going to be a cannot miss night. Even better it is FREE to Texas boxing fans and professional fighters with the donation of a toy and will benefit the Children's Shelter of San Antonio and St. PJ's Children's Home to give to the abused and neglected children from "Santa Clause." Bring a toy to the Leija Battah offices at 4310 West Ave. between 9am - 6pm Monday thru Friday and receive your free ticket. This event is sponsored by Mexico - Live It To Believe It!, O'Reilly Auto Parts Dewalt, Nike Boxing, Red M'Combs Toyota, Everlast, and Lowe's.

Legendary Hall of Fame, Founder & President of Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya, Texas Promoter Mike Battah and legendary former World Champion and Promoter Jesse James Leija want to give back to fans by giving them an early Christmas Present to show our appreciation for all of the support that has been given to us over the past three years.

In the main event, scheduled for 10 rounds in the junior featherweight division, rising star Diaz Jr. will face his most experienced foe to date in 69-fight veteran Jose Angel Beranza. The 22-year-old southpaw from South El Monte has had a spectacular 2014 thus far, winning all five of his bouts, three by knockout. 38-year-old Mexico City native Beranza (36-31-2, 28 KOs) has seen it all over the course of his career, and after facing a series of five opponents in his most recent bouts who had a combined 82-2-1 record, he'll look to get back on track against Diaz.

The co-main event will see Fort Worth's Hernandez (14-8-1, 6 KOs) attempt to return to the win column after a controversial split decision loss to Keandre Gibson in August when he takes on San Antonio's Justo Vallecillo (6-17, 3 KOs) in an eight-round junior welterweight matchup. Unbeaten in four of his last seven, including an eighth-round technical knockout of 15-0 Tony Luis, the popular Hernandez always gives the fans an exciting performance and against the dangerous Vallecillo, he expects to deliver another bout to remember.

Currently ranked seventh in the world by the WBC, the 23-year-old Morales (26-0, 15 KOs) is excited to be back in San Antonio, where he defeated Raul Hidalgo back in April of 2013. Since then, the talented southpaw has won five straight matches, most recently stopping Cesar Canchila in six rounds in August. On December 8, he will meet up with Kyrgyzstan native Timur Shailezov (17-8-1, 4 KOs) in a 10-round bantamweight bout.

That's not all though, as eight more fights featuring some of Texas' rising fighters will be contested at Cowboys Dancehall. First off, the unbeaten San Antonio stars Javier Rodriguez (11-0-1, 1 KO) and Joseph Rodriguez (7-0, 2 KOs) will be challenged in separate junior featherweight 6-round bouts against opponents to be determined. Junior welterweights Jairo Castaneda (6-0, 2 KOs) and Albert Espinoza (2-4) will face off in a 4-round fight. San Antonio's Cresencio Ramos (1-0, 1 KO) will go up against Cooperas Cove's Jaime Hernandez (1-2) in a 4-round junior lightweight battle. Newcomers,Christian Santbanez (0-2) will go up against Daniel Arriaga (0-1-1) and David Ruiz (0-2) will fight Erick Loera (2-1, 1 KO), in separate 4-round lightweight matches. Light heavyweight Adam Franklin is making his professional debut against San Marcos' Kevin Conrad (0-2) in a 4-round bout, and opening up this exciting night, Brownsville's Juan Tapia (2-0, 1 KO) and Robert Ledesma (0-3) from San Antonio will go against each other in a junior featherweight 4-round fight.

Cornwall, Ontario (October 10, 2013) – Lightweight standout Tony “Lightning” Luis of Cornwall, Ontario, Canada makes his highly anticipated return to the ring Saturday, November 9 when he battles an opponent to be named at the Whitehall Athletic Club in Whitehall, NY.

Most importantly, I’ve spent time in the gym making improvements and I know that a victory moves me closer to another significant fight.”

RUSTAM "THE MONGOOSE" NUGAEV IN REACH FOR A WORLD TITLE SHOT

Naugaev-1.JPG

September 4, 2013 - Gary Shaw Productions lightweight contender, Rustam "The Mongoose" Nugaev (25-6-1, 15 KOs) has been spectacular since his return to the ring after a two year layoff due to personal issues.  In his first fight back Nugaev destroyed undefeated Peruvian star, Jonathan Maicelo (20-1, 12 KOs) by means of an 8th round KO.  The fight was nationally shown on ESPN "Friday Night Fights", the first televised fight of Nugaev's career.

"When I fought Maicelo, I wanted to show the world that I'm a fighter who is ready to take the lightweight division by storm," said Nugaev. "I was so excited to showcase my skills to a national audience.  I wasn't going to let the opportunity pass me by.  There was nothing Maicelo could have done to defeat me.  I was determined to come out victorious and I did so with a powerful knockout."

Gary Shaw was very impressed with Nugaev's victory against Maicelo as he stated, "Rustam Nugaev showed he has the talent to compete against any of the top lightweights in the world.  Maicelo is a very good fighter, and for Nuegaev to knock him out the way he did is very impressive.  Rustam has a great chin and he's relentless with his pressure style."

After ending Maicelo's unbeaten record, Nugaev followed up with two more knockouts victories against veteran Daniel Attah (28-16-1, 11 KOs) and Texas' Jose Hernandez (14-7-1, 6 KOs).  Against Hernandez, Nugaev would once again get an opportunity to fight on a national stage as the fight was televised on ESPN "FridayNight Fights" for the second time in his career.  Nugaev dazzled with a 5th round destruction of Hernandez.

"Every time I step in the ring I'm looking to knockout my opponent," Nugaev stated. "I don't want to leave any decisions in the hands of judges.  I want to really thank Gary Shaw for giving me the opportunity to fight on national TV and for believing in me.  I'm not going to let him down.  My goal is to win a world title and give Gary Shaw Productions a new champion."

"Rustam will have every opportunity to become something special in this sport," said Gary Shaw. "He's currently ranked No. 6 by the WBA and a world title shot is looming.  Right now I believe he beats all the champions a lightweight."

NUGAEV & PEDRAZA VICTORIOUS ON ESPN FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS

Naugaev-1.JPG

CABAZON, CALIFORNIA (August 10, 2013) - Last night on ESPN "Friday Night Fights", Gary Shaw Productions in association with Lucas Oil presented another exciting night of boxing live from the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, Calif

In the 10-round main event, Russian sluger Rustam Nugaev continued to impress the boxing world with a spectacular performance against a game Jose Hernandez.  Both fighters had their moments in the early rounds.  Hernandez would land combinations in spurts as did Nugaev, but it was the Russian who did the most damage in the exchanges.  In the fifth round, Rustam landed a solid temple shot, followed by a vicious body blow that put Hernandez down and out.  Nugaev never backed up during the fight and the pressure was too much for Hernandez who gave a valiant effort in defeat.  With the KO victory, Nugaev moves to (27-4, 15 KOs) as Hernandez drops to (14-7-1, 6 KOs).   The bout was stopped the 1:38 mark of round 5.

"I wanted to come out here tonight and make a statement," said Nugaev. "Hernandez is a very tough fighter and he's a powerful puncher.  But tonight I wasn't going to be denied.  I will wait patiently to see what Gary Shaw has planned for me next.  I'm gunning for all the top fighters at 135."

"Nugaev is one tough guy," said Hernandez. "I was hitting him with some nice shots and he wasn't backing up.  I came here tonight to win and give the fans a great fight.  Although I came up short, I gave it my all and I'm not ashamed of my performance."

Pedraza-1.JPG
In the 10-round co-main event, Puerto Rican sensation Jose "Sniper" Pedraza and Gabriel Tolmajyan went the distance, giving the fans an exciting action packed fight.  Tolmajyan came out strong in the opening round, landing accurate straight lefts that forced Pedraza to switch to the southpaw stance.  Once the switch was made, Pedraza controlled the action using a precise jab to counter the attack Tolmajyan was bringing.  Tolmajyan was the aggressor for most of the fight, but found it hard to land clean shots as Pedraza was moving laterally to avoid getting hit. When the fight went inside, Pedraza's hand speed was a major factor, as he landed multiple 4-punch combinations.  Both fighters were fighting with high energy in the final rounds, but it was Pedraza who came out on top, winning a unanimous decision.  Scorecards ready 97-93 across the board from all three judges. Pedraza improves to (14-0, 9 KOs) while Tolmajyan record stands at (14-3, 3 KOs)

"This was a very difficult fight but I knew I had what it took to come out victorious," said Pedraza. "I had to switch to southpaw early in the fight and I believe that was the winning factor in this fight.  I'm very comfortable fighting southpaw and I know I can go there anytime during a fight.  I want to thankGary Shaw, Javier Bustillo and Lou DiBella for giving me this opportunity.  I'm ready to step up and fight the top contenders in the division."

"I felt like I was in control of the fight early on," Tolmjyan said. "Things started to get away from me in the middle rounds, but I was never hurt at any point in the fight.  I fought hard but tonight Pedraza was the better man."

Undercard Results

Luna-2.JPG
(6-round Lightweight bout) - Fan favorite, Alejandro Luna (15-0, 11 KOs) remained undefeated with a 2nd round KO of Christopher Rivera (5-13-1, 4 KOs).  Luna was switching from southpaw to conventional in the first round before he landed a straight right to the sternum in round two, forcing Rivera to take a knee.  Rivera couldn't make the ten count and the bout was stopped at the 2:44 mark of round two.

tapia-1.JPG
(4-round Super-Bantamweight bout) - Roy Tapia (6-0-1, 3 KOs) out-slugged Eliezer Agosto (2-3, 2 KOs) stopping the Puerto Rican with a vicious body shot.  Both fighters were swinging for the fences but it was Tapia who landed the more powerful blows.  The bout was halted at the 2:15 mark of round three.

(12-round IBF Jr. Lightweight Intercontinental Championship) - Ghana's Emmanuel Tagoe (22-1, 8 KOs) and Mexico's Gerardo Robles (18-12, 9 KOs) went to battle for the vacant IBF Intercontinental Championship.  Robles was the aggressor in the early rounds until Tagoe landed a hard body shot in round four that sent him in retreat mode. Tagoe continued to press the action, stalking Robles while landing numerous blows to the head and body.  After round nine, Robles' corner had seen enough and threw in the towel.  Tagoe wins by TKO but did not capture the IBF Jr. Lightweight title because he was overweight at yesterday's weigh-in.

(4-round Welterweight bout) - Arnold Barboza Jr. (2-0) sustained his unbeaten record with a hard fought unanimous decision over Vicente Guzman (0-2).  Barboza used his superior boxing skills to cruise to victory.  Scorecards read 40-36 twice and 39-37.

(4-round Super-Bantamweight bout) - Puerto Rican standout, Edgardo Laboy showed great skills as he outclassed Luis Vargas en route to a 3rd round TKO.  Laboy's footwork and superior punching power was obvious.  In round two, a hematoma above the left eye of Vargas formed from a hard right hook landed by Laboy.  The bout was stopped after Laboy landed another right hook that landed flush on the damaged head of Vargas. Official time of the stoppage was 1:17 of round three.

(4-round Welterweight bout) - Undefeated welterweight, Joaquin Steve kept his undefeated record intact with a first round destruction of Bryan Edward Brooks.  Steve landed a 4-punch combination at the 1:19 mark and put Brooks down.  After coming up on wobbly legs, the referee stopped the bout.  Steve improves to (5-0-1, 4 KOs).
