GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS, FOX SPORTS 1 AND FOX DEPORTES CELEBRATE THE ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE GOLDEN BOY LIVE! SERIES

LOS ANGELES (Aug. 20) - Exactly one year ago yesterday, Golden Boy Promotions, kicked off its lauded Golden Boy Live! series on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes, an undertaking that led to 24 fights in a single year featuring hundreds of fighters in front of thousands of fans from numerous venues across the United States and Puerto Rico.

"When we created Golden Boy Live!, our goal was to showcase up-and-coming fighters to fans eager to see the next generation of superstars," said Oscar De La Hoya, founder and president of Golden Boy Promotions. "We have been thrilled by our partnership with FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes and look forward to continuing our collaboration for many years to come."

The Golden Boy Live! series continues this Friday, August 22 from the Allan Witt Sports Center in Fairfield, Calif. featuring Manuel "Tino" Avila vs. Sergio Frias in the main event.

"As FOX Sports 1 celebrates its first year, it's great to have some of our original partners marking the occasion along with us," said Patrick Crakes, FOX Sports Senior Vice President of Programming, Research and Content Strategy. "Golden Boy Live! continues to deliver quality fights, including three great fight cards scheduled over the next month. We're looking forward to continuing to grow the relationship between Golden Boy Promotions and FOX Sports 1."

Nine of the 24 Golden Boy Live! events featured main event knockouts, including its inaugural fight night from the Best Buy Theater in New York City featuring the recently crowned WBA Middleweight World Champion Daniel "The Miracle Man" Jacobs when he knocked out Giovanni Lorenzo in the third round.

"Fighting on the first Golden Boy Live! event against Giovanni Lorenzo was one of the biggest moments of my career," said Jacobs. "To be at home in New York against a top contender and to win by knockout, let me know that I was on the right track to a world championship. Congratulations on the one-year anniversary and here's to many more years on FOX Sports 1."

Rising star Julian "Camaron" Ramirez spoke about his experience on the series adding, "When you're an up-and-coming fighter learning and improving on your craft, watching my favorite fighters on television was how I got inspired. To be able to fight on Golden Boy Live! and to be the guy that people are watching now, is very exciting and motivating and I can't wait to be back on the series."

After kicking off the series in the Big Apple, Golden Boy Live! events landed in 13 different markets in 15 different venues from the House of Blues in Boston to the Alamodome in San Antonio and worked with various top local promoters in order to plan and execute the best events possible.

"Golden Boy Live! is a throwback to a great era in boxing when the fights were the main thing," said Paco Damian of Paco Presents, a promotional company based in Woodland, Calif. "It doesn't matter if you're a big name or not; if you're on this show, you're going to be in for a fight where the fans are always the winners."

Echoing Damian's sentiments was prominent Texas promoter, Mike Battah: "Whether you're a prospect or a contender, Golden Boy Live! gives boxers the national showcase they need to show their talents to fans and to the industry," Battah said. "This series has provided great opportunities for the fighters. Look at Luis Collazo - he fought on the series and then made it all the way to the MGM Grand on one of the biggest cards of the year (facing Amir Khan on the Floyd Mayweather vs. Marcos Maidana Pay-Per-View Undercard). These weekday events give boxers a great outlet in which to showcase their talents in front of a large audience and build themselves for that next step. These are competitive, evenly matched fights in great venues and I'm proud to be associated with it."

Over the first year, no venue hosted more Golden Boy Live! fight cards than Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif. which hosted four series events. Speaking about the series' connection to its' most frequented property, Fantasy Springs Resort Casino General Manager Paul Ryan stated, "Fantasy Springs Resort Casino has worked with Golden Boy Promotions on various platforms, including the Golden Boy Live! series, to provide the Coachella Valley with quality boxing entertainment all year round. The popularity of the series' fights at Fantasy Springs has been in large part due to the community support given to our local boxers inside the Golden Boy ring and we are eager to see the next generation of excellent talent come through our doors."

Olympians Sadam "World Kid" Ali, Jamell Herring, Rau'shee Warren, Joseph Diaz Jr., Dominic "Trouble" Breazeale and Diego De La Hoya found homes on the Golden Boy Live! fight cards, many of whom were repeat stars of the shows. Those with championship hopes began vying for their chance to prove themselves on boxing's most emerging stage.

"It's been a great privilege to be showcased on Golden Boy Live! The exposure has been tremendous and I have been able to reach out to a lot of new fans. I am honored to be part of the Golden Boy family," saidGolden Boy Live! participant Joseph Diaz Jr.

Diego De La Hoya spoke about the invaluable opportunity that the Golden Boy Live! series affords aspiring champions stating, "To be a young fighter and to get such a great chance to compete on television from the start, I can't thank Golden Boy and FOX Sports enough. You learn a lot fighting at this level and I can't wait for my next fight!"

"Golden Boy Live! helped propel my career," said Francisco "El Bandido" Vargas. "Getting to fight on television for fans around the world is an honor and a privilege for any fighter. I can't wait to get invited back!"

"Being part of this promotional company has been a great journey and I'm looking forward to watching another great show on Friday night. I'm very excited and grateful to be part of this series," added repeatGolden Boy Live! fighter Antonio "Relentless" Orozco.

With shows twice a month, Golden Boy Promotions took advantage of different holidays, and happenings throughout the year including fights on Memorial Day, St. Patrick's Day and even during the first ever New York City Super Bowl week with a special edition fight hosted at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

"We have hosted two Golden Boy Live! events in the last year and we are thrilled that Golden Boy and its relationship with FOX Sports 1 have provided such a tremendous platform to showcase major boxing at Barclays Center," said Brett Yormark, CEO of Barclays Center.

Fighters on the card are not the only stars to grace Golden Boy Live! venues as current and future Hall of Famers including Oscar De La Hoya, Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Tito Trinidad, Roy Jones Jr., Erik Morales, Jesse James Leija and current fighters including current and former World Champions Bernard Hopkins, Danny Garcia, Peter Quillin, Amir Khan, Leo Santa Cruz, Adrien Broner, Abner Mares, Omar Figueroa Jr., Alfredo Angulo,Daniel Ponce De Leon and many others have attended the fights as special guests. Additionally, former World Champion and current SHOWTIME commentator Paulie "Magic Man" Malignaggi has commentated on the majority of the Golden Boy Live! shows as well.

"It's been a great first year for Golden Boy Live! and the fighters who have been on the series always bring it when tho camera lights are on," said Malignaggi. "For a fighter to get the opportunity to perform on such a huge stage is a big deal and they've embraced it. Just look at Daniel Jacobs, a few months ago he was onGolden Boy Live! against Giovanni Lorenzo and now he's a world champion. This show builds stars and champions."

PLUS A STACKED UNDERCARD OF LOCAL TALENT FEATURED ON AUGUST 22!

Tickets On Sale Now!

FAIRFIELD, CALIF. (July 31) - For the first time in two years, top junior featherweight prospect Manuel "Tino" Avila will compete in his hometown of Fairfield, Calif. at the Allan Witt Sports Center and puts his undefeated record on the line in the FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes' Golden Boy Live! main event against Mexico's Sergio "Finito" Frias on Friday, August 22.

In the co-main event, it's an eight-round heavyweight showdown when unbeaten Gerald "El Gallo"Washington faces veteran standout Nagy Aguilera. In the eight-round televised opener, featherweights Guy Robb of Sacramento, Calif. and Jonathan Arrellano of Ontario, Canada will square off.

"Few moments in boxing are more exciting for fans than when a young, hungry prospect fights in front of his hometown," said Oscar De La Hoya, president and founder of Golden Boy Promotions. "Manuel Avila seems to have all the tools, but how he performs against a tough fighter like Sergio Frias in a pressure-packed situation will determine a great deal about Tino's future.. Gerald Washington is an impressive athlete who has picked up boxing very well in a short period of time, and if he beats a veteran like Aguilera, he could be on his way to the next level of the heavyweight division."

A 22-year-old rising star with a huge California following that is growing nationwide, Fairfield'sManuel "Tino" Avila (15-0, 6 KOs) last fought at home in August of 2012, when he stopped Vicente Alfaro in three rounds. Since then, he has fought and won six more times, most recently knocking out seasoned veteran David De La Mora in just two rounds. Showing clear improvement with each fight, Avila expects to be at his best ever on August 22.

Sergio "Finito" Frias (15-3-2, 8 KOs) is a four-year professional who is unbeaten in his last three fights. A rugged battler who knows how to mix it up in the ring, the 23-year-old Guadalajara native is ready for a big night in which he makes his Golden Boy Live!and United States debut against one of the top talents in the 122-pound weight division.

A former college football star who is on his way to surpassing his success on the gridiron in the boxing ring, Vallejo's Gerald Washington (13-0, 10 KOs) may have gotten a late start in the sweet science, but he's making up for lost time quickly. Washington is 3-0 thus far in 2014 and the 32-year-old has scored knockouts over Arron Lyons, Skipp Scott and Travis Walker this year and Aguilera is on his hit list for number four.

Fresh from a gutsy effort against 2012 U.S. Olympian Dominic Breazeale in April, New York'sNagy Aguilera (19-8, 13 KOs) will attempt to get back on the winning track against Washington this August. Winner of three of his four pre-Breazeale bouts, the 28-year-old known as "Dominican Dynamite" can make a big statement if he pins a loss on Washington on Golden Boy Live!.

Sacramento featherweight Guy Robb (13-1, 5 KOs) is always in an exciting fight and he will have his fans out in force when he looks for his seventh consecutive win on August 22. The same can be said for Ontario's Jonathan "Lil' Thund'r" Arellano (14-4-2, 3 KOs), making this a must see fight for hardcore boxing fans.

Also in action on August 22 will be several of California's top young talents in separate 4 round battles including San Jose's Andy Vences (8-0, 4 KOs) who takes on Hollywood's Cesar Martinez (4-2-2, 1 KO), Los Angeles undefeated featherweight Manny Robles Jr. (5-0, 2 KOs), Madera's Chris Bautista (2-0) Vacaville's Ryan Bourland (2-0, 1 KO) and a rematch between junior middleweights Joel Siapano (0-1) of San Leandro and Fresno's Jesus Sanchez(1-0).

Unbeaten as a professional, 22-year-old Manuel "Tino" Avila (14-0, 5 KOs) has been attracting the attention only afforded to the top up and coming talents in the sport. A former elite amateur, Avila has continued to impress since his debut in 2010. On February 17, Avila nabbed his fourteenth professional win with a 10-round decision win over Enrique Quevedo that was highlighted by a tenth round knockdown of his toughest foe to date. On May 15, he will attempt to get win number 15 making his return to the hit Golden Boy Live! series.

Former WBC Fecarbox Champion David "Morita" De La Mora (25-5, 18 KOs) is a warrior always willing to go to battle when the bell rings. A professional since 2006, De La Mora fell short in championship fights against Koki Kameda and Anselmo Moreno, but he believes his experience will be the key to him getting a win over Avila and putting him back on the right track this May.

Born in Tijuana but now fighting out of Paramount, California, 26-year-old Manuel Roman (16-2-3, 6 KOs) has faced off with the likes of Randy Caballero, Luis Lugo and Anthony Villareal over the course of his career and while he's had his ups and downs, a win over then 14-0 John Amuzu at the Del Mar Fairgrounds last September has "Suavecito" on the upswing.

Merida's Jose "Cacho" Silveira (15-10, 6 KOs) is a stern test for any fighter looking to take his career to the next level and having faced nine unbeaten opponents since turning pro in 2005, the proof is right in his record. Coming off of a hard-fought eight round bout with three-time Olympian Rau'shee Warren last December, Silveira is eager to return to the win column against Roman.
