Former Champ “Chop Chop,” Undefeated "White Lightning" and Son of a Legend Showcased on Nov. 15th Jimmy Lange Boxing Card

DeMarcus Corley, Todd Wilson, and Ronald Hearns vs. Jonathan Reid Featured at Patriot Center

Fairfax, Va. --- Local boxing fans will get their money’s worth at the Jimmy Lange Boxing show coming to the Patriot Center on November 15, 2014.  In addition to the highly-anticipated Main Event rematch between Jimmy Lange and Tony “Mo Better” Jeter and a title bout featuring world champion Tori “Sho Nuff” Nelson of Ashburn, Va., the event will showcase an all-star undercard with a former D.C. world champion, an undefeated local fan favorite and a special attraction bout between the son of a Hall of Famer and a former title contender.

Jimmy Lange Boxing welcomes back one of the region’s all-time greats with DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley (44-22-1, 25 KO’s), a D.C. native and former World Boxing Organization (WBO) and United States Boxing Association (USBA) light welterweight champion. With a current World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight rating of 22, the crafty veteran is back at the top of his game and considered a dangerous lightweight contender. Coming off a dominant unanimous victory over Daniel Attah last month at the Washington Convention Center, Corley is competing on his third Patriot Center show.

Popular undefeated Fairfax, Va. welterweight Todd “White Lightning” Wilson (16-0, 5 KO’s) goes for his 17th victory against a yet to be determined opponent. He has fought five times in front of the hometown Patriot Center crowd, including a win over former world Champion Eric “Mighty Mouse” Aiken in 2011.  An NCBA National Champion and two-time All-American at Virginia Military Institute, Wilson won the United Boxing Federation (UBF) All-American Light Welterweight title with a decision over Marlon Lewis last April.  Wilson, a business development specialist, splits his time fighting out of ABGC Boxing Gym and 9Round, an Arlington, Va. gym he co-owns with Rob Graveline.

Ronald Hearns (26-5, 20 KO’s), son of former world champion and International Boxing Hall of Famer Thomas “Hitman” Hearns, takes on veteran Jonathon “Reid Dawg” Reid (35-15, 2O KO’s), a former Lange opponent and teammate from NBC’s,“The Contender,” in a special attraction bout. Despite a late start in boxing – he began as a 24-year old – Hearns grew up in and around boxing his whole life in Detroit and has developed a more than respectable record, facing world-class competition such as Erislandy Lara and Felix Strum.  The six-foot three Hearns has local ties to Washington, D.C. having earned a degree in criminal justice from American University where he played point guard on the Eagles’ basketball team.

Reid, a Nashville, Tenn. native, is a former middleweight contender who battled D.C.’s own William Joppy for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Middleweight title. He lost the WBC USNBC Light Middleweight Championship to Scott Sigmon in his last bout, held two years in Winchester, Va. This will be his fourth fight at the Patriot Center.

Juan “The Savior” Rodriguez (5-2-1, 4 KO’s) of Haymarket, Va., and Yurii Polischuk (6-1-1, 3 KO’s) of Alexandria, Va., are scheduled to square off in a Northern Virginia welterweight showdown.  It will be the fourth bout at the Patriot Center for Rodriguez, who defeated Damon Antoine in his most recent bout held in 2012. Polischuk, fresh off a unanimous decision victory over Ben Olinga last Saturday night, is making his Patriot Center debut. Coming off a knock out win against Ty Felton on September 27, 2014, rising light welterweight star Seth Billups (4-0, 3 KO’s) of Ashburn, Va. will make his Patriot Center debut (opponent TBA).  Also on the card,Devar Ferhadi, (3-0, 2 KO’s) from Frederick, Md., will take on Jess Noriega (3-11, 3 KO’s) of Lynchburg, Va., in a super middleweight contest.

Doors will open at 6:00 pm, with the first fight scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm. "Lange-Jeter 2: The Rematch" is presented by Jeff Valcourt and Valcourt Building Services.

Tickets, priced at $50, $75, $125, $250 and $500 (plus applicable service charges), can be purchased through all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Patriot Center box office, online at www.ticketmaster.com/ and via Phonecharge at 1-800-745-3000.

Undefeated lightweight contender Ivan Redkach Now trained by Robert Garcia

LOS ANGELES (August 21), 2014 - Undefeated United States Boxing Association (USBA) lightweight champion Ivan "The Terrible" Redkach (17-0, 13 KOs) has changed head trainers, adding former world champion and 2011 Trainer of the Year
Robert Garcia to his corner.

The 28-year-old Redkach, who won 260 of 300 amateur matches and represented his native Ukraine at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing as a team alternate, was always considered a better professional prospect than amateur because of his ferocious style and devastating power in both hands.

Rated in the top 10 by three of the four sanctioning bodies - IBF #6, WBC #8 and WBA #10 - Redkach and his manager, Larry Army (Elite Management), felt a world-class trainer was needed on Team Redkach as the Ukrainian fighter closes in on his first world title shot, hopefully, in 2015.
"I have a lot of respect for my former trainer, Mario Morales, but I needed a new trainer to teach me how to win at the championship level," Redkach said. "I didn't show any improvement in my last two fights, something I need to do every fight to be a legitimate world title contender.
"Robert Garcia has proven many times that he is a great trainer, one of the best in boxing. I get great sparring at his gym in Oxnard, which is only a one-hour drive from my home (in Los Angeles). I can't wait for my next fight to show everybody how much I've improved."

Garcia currently trains world champions such as Nonito Donaire, Evgeny Gradovich, Mickey Garcia and Marcos Antonio Rubio, as well as former world champions and top contenders Marcos Rene Maidana and Brandon Rios.
.
Redkach captured the vacant USBA title last January, winning a 10-round decision (99-90, 97-92, 97-93) over tough Tony Luis (17-1), and this past June he came out of a fight against awkward Sergey Gulyakevich (41-2) with a victory by way of a 10-round decision (100-90, 99-91, 98-92).

"My job as his manager is to provide Ivan with everything he needs to win a world title," Army explained. I saw things in Ivan's last two fights, mistakes that weren't corrected, and it was time for a change. Ivan needed a trainer like Robert Garcia to win at the highest level.

"Robert actually saw Ivan fight at the last show (vs. Gulyakevich). He trained a fighter on the same card. We talked after the fights and he immediately seemed like the right fit. We were lucky that, living in LA, Ivan had other options to go with an elite trainer, but  Robert was always our No. 1 choice. He's a great teacher and certainly qualified by any standards. He has some Eastern European/Russian fighters in his gym. Robert has had great success changing their styles to be more potent and that's what we're hoping for with Ivan"

Redkach's next fight is expected to be in October.

RAY ROBINSON AND PANDAFEED.TV A SMASHING SUCCESS

PHILADELPHIA (August 7, 2013)—This past Friday night, Welterweight Ray Robinson (16-2, 7 KO’s) made an emphatic statement as he scored a spectacular 7th round stoppage over Ray Narh to capture the USBA Welterweight title.
The fight was the featured bout of a six fight card that was streamed live to the entire world as the inaugural fight card on www.pandafeed.tv
In the co-feature, Samuel Neequaye (21-0) remained undefeated and captured the NABA Lightweight championship with a 10 round unanimous decision over Dorin Spivey in what was a toe to toe war.
“This event surpassed our high expectations”, said Blow by Blow announcer and Pandfeed.tv co-founder Marc Abrams
“The action in the ring was incredible with the two championship bouts and we had a great number of buys from all parts of the globe.  We were only able to promote the fight for one week and we are very confident and encouraged by what the future holds.  We will be announcing our next boxing event later this week and we also will be announcing several MMA events as well.”
“We want to thank Champs Management and we already have a commitment from them to broadcast a championship fight card this fall”
During the broadcast, Abrams was joined by legendary world champion Bernard Hopkins as well as former world Middleweight title challenger Dave Tiberi.
“Fans should order the replay to watch these six fights and listen to the wisdom of Hopkins as he is broke the fights down perfectly”
In a six round Light Heavyweight bout, Taneal Goyco scored a controversial six round majority decision over NABA Interim Super Middleweight champion Frankie Filippone.
Omar Douglas made it 9-0 as he scored a 3rd round stoppage over DeWayne Wisdom in a Lightweight bout.
Andrew Farmer went to 17-2 with a six round split decision over Hector Marengo in a Jr. Welterweight bout.
Joey Tiberi is now 10-1 with his four round unanimous decision over Miguel Antonio Rodriguez in a Lightweight bout.

Edwin 'La Bomba' Rodriguez lands in Monaco for 'Monte Carlo Million Dollar Super Four'

Monaco arrival

TEAM LA BOMBA (L-R): Larry Army, manager, undefeated Edwin "La Bomba" Rodriguez, and Ronnie Shields, head trainer.
WORCESTER, Mass. (March 24, 2013) - Undefeated super middleweight contender Edwin "La Bomba" Rodriguez (22-0, 15 KOs) broke his Houston training camp yesterday and he landed today in Monaco with his team for this Saturday afternoon's "Monte Carlo Million Dollar Super 4" at Casino de Monte-Carlo.

Rodriguez, the reigning United States Boxing Assocaition (USBA) champion, meets unbeaten 2008 Argentina Olympian Ezequiel "El Olimpico" Maderna (19-0, 13 KOs) in the opening round of four-fighter tournament, which also includes a light heavyweight fight between two-time, two division world champion Zsolt Erdei (33-0, 18 KOs) and Denis Grachev (12-1-1, 8 KOs). The two winners will advance to the $1,000,000 (60-40 split) "Super Four," championship final, to be contested at a catch-weight of 171 ½ lbs., on July 13 in Monaco.

The "Monte Carlo Million Dollar Super 4" is being distributed in the United States and Canada by Integrated Sports Media for live viewing at 3:00 p.m. ET - 12:00 p.m. PT on both cable and satellite pay-per-view via iN Demand, DIRECTV, DISH and Avail-TVN in the United States and in Canada via Bell TV for a suggest retail price of only $24.95.  In addition, the event will be available via on-line Pay Per View at http://www.gfl.tv/Events/Fight/Boxing/Gennady_Golovkin_vs_Nobuhiro_Ishida/1896

To order the "Super Four" PPV, headlined by WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin defending against former world champion Nobuhiro Ishida, go to your cable company's PPV listings for Saturday afternoon (starting at 3 p.m. ET; event telecast starting at 3:30 p.m. ET ) and look under boxing for Golovkin vs. Ishida.

"We had a great training camp," Rodriguez said before he departed. "I got in a lot of great work with (world-rated light heavyweight) Cornelius White, who is 6' 3" with a long reach. We sparred a lot of rounds. I feel that, since I've been working with (head trainer) Ronnie (Shields), I've become a more complete fighter. I've tightened-up my defense and my offense has been great. There's always room for improvement, though, and the key to getting better is long training camps like this one."

Rodriguez is the No. 3-rated super middleweight in the world in the World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF), as well as ranked No. 12 by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and No. 10 by The Ring Magazine.

Fighting outside of his native country for the first time, 2008 Argentina Olympian Maderna is ranked No. 5 by the WBO and No. 13 by the IBF.

"He's a good boxer-puncher," Rodriguez spoke about his relatively unknown opponent. "He resembles Aaron Pryor, Jr. a little. I'm confident going into this fight. I always am because I believe in my ability and skills. I'll be ready Saturday night."

Rodriguez must get past Maderna to fight the Erdei-Grachev winner in the most lucrative fight of his career. The 27-year-old Dominican Republic native, who was a two-time U.S. national amateur champion, won't allow the Super Four championship fight to be a distraction, nor the birth of his third child in a few weeks.

"I'm a professional and I will not allow any distractions," Rodriguez concluded. "I'm a laid back person and 100-percent focused on this fight. I'm fighting a 19-0 former Olympian in the toughest challenge of my life. I can't afford to look past him or I won't be in the championship fight. The big money in the championship motivates me. I honestly feel the same way going into every fight. Boxing is a tough sport. I need to win and do it impressively to get where I want to be - world champion. Everything starts with this fight."

RODRIGUEZ PUNISHES ESCALERA: RESULTS FROM MGM GRAND FOXWOODS

Sept. 29 letterhead

Rodriguez hammers Escalera

MASHANTUCKET, Conn. (September 29, 2012) - Undefeated Edwin "La Bomba" Rodriguez (22-0, 15 KOs) made a major statement tonight in the main event, punishing a tough, previously unbeaten Jason "Monstruo" Escalera (13-1-1, 12 KOs) until referee Steve Smoger called off the fight at the start of the eighth round, on tonight's special HBO Boxing After Dark tripleheader in MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.
"Road To Glory" was promoted by DiBella Entertainment, in association with Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Gary Shaw Productions.

Rodriguez came out after the first bell throwing bombs and nearly dropped a game Escalera on several occasions, winning 10-8 on all three judges' scorecards, and the dynamic Dominican living in Worcester (MA) never let up in his first United States Boxing Association (USBA) title defense.  He won every round convincingly, showcasing his entire arsenal in the process.  Rodriguez is closing in on a major fight, if not a world title shot, and is rated No. 3 by the World Boxing Council (WBC), No. 4 by the International Boxing Federation (IBF), No. 8 by the World Boxing Association (WBA), and No. 9 by The Ring Magazine.

"I was surprised he got out of the first round," Rodriguez admitted.  "He's definitely a strong kid; tough with raw power but easy to predict.  We want any of the top 10 guys, definitely (Kelly) Pavlik.  I wanted to send a message and I think my performance speaks for itself."

"That was the offensive machine Edwin can be that you didn't see against Donovan George," Rodriguez' ecstatic promoter Lou DiBella noted.  "He fought a tough kid with an iron chin.  He's ready for Pavlik at 168, or (Lucian) Bute or (Jean) Pascal at 175.  I hope HBO brings us the biggest fight because Edwin is ready to step up and be a star."

darchinyan fight
Darchinyan catches Del Valle

Three-time, two-division world champion Vic Darchinyan (38-5-1, 27 KOs), fighting out of Australia, won a dominating decision over previously undefeated Luis "Orlandito" Del Valle (16-0, 11 KOs) for the vacant North American Boxing Federation (NABF) super bantamweight title.  Darchinyan outworked the 25-year-old Del Valle, who is rated No. 4 by t
Vic Darchinyan (L) vs. Luis Del Valle he WBA, effectively pressuring his opponent and repeatedly finding Del Valle's chin with powerful left uppercuts.

"I'm back," Darchinyan exclaimed.  "I feel good at this weight; I feel strong.  I worked very hard.  He's a tough kid. I just felt I was in a different class than him."

"I'm disappointed," Del Valle remarked.  "He's extremely awkward. I let him impose his style and he got his confidence early.  Every time I went inside, he held me.  My hat's off to him. He was the better man tonight."
decarie fight
Decarie unloads on Perez

In the HBO opening fight, French-Canadian welterweight Antonin Decarie (27-1, 8 KOs), rated No. 7 by the WBC, introduced himself to American fans with a bang, knocking out previously unbeaten Alex Perez (16-1, 9 KOs), of Newark, New Jersey, in the sixth round.  Decarie won the  first five rounds on two judges' cards and led 4-1 on the other.  Near the end of the sixth round, Decarie caught Perez with a left hook and then a right cross as Perez was rocked.  Decarie pinned Perez on the ropes and unloaded a series of solid punches until referee Danny Schiavone stopped the fight with six seconds remaining in the round.  Decarie won the vacant North American Boxing Association (NABF) title to go with his WBC International that was not on the line.

"I feel awesome," Decarie said after the fight.  "We had a great training camp. The right hand was something we worked on.  I knew I could land the right and once I started landing it I knew I could hurt him.  I give a lot of credit to Alex for taking the fight.  This was the outcome we expected.  I'm ready for any welterweight in the world and I can't wait to be back on HBO."

O'Connor fight
O'Connor cruises past Sosa

Backed by an enthusiastic Irish-American crowd, fast rising super lightweight of Danny O'Connor, of Framingham (MA), put on a show for his fans, stopping Josh "Nino Assasino" Sosa (10-4, 5 KOs) in the third round.  Now managed by Dropkick Murphys band founder and lead singer, Kenny Casey, O'Connor trapped Sosa on the rope and unleashed a barrage of unanswered, vicious body shots until referee Eddie Cotton halted the action.

Chilemba fight

Chilemba rocks Saunders

World-rated cruiserweight Issac "Golden Boy" Chilemba (20-1-1, 9 KOs), fighting out of South Africa, turned in a workmanlike effort against veteran Rayco "War" Saunders (22-17-2, 9 KOs), pitching a shutout en route to a eight-round win by unanimous decision (80-72 X 3). Chilemba originally was supposed to fight on the HBO broadcast against undefeated, two-time world champion Zsolt Erdei, who was forced to withdraw with a rib injury.  Chilemba is rated in the top 15 by all four major world boxing organizations, as high as No. 5 by the IBF, as well as No. 9 by The Ring Magazine.

Popular Massachusetts super lightweight Ryan "Polish Prince" Kielczewski (14-0. 2 KOs) remained undefeated, outclassing Jeremy McLaurin (9-4, 5 KOs) in an impressive victory by six-round decision.
Local favorite Luis "KO King" Rosa, Jr., fighting out of New Haven (CT), ran his perfect record to 11-0 (6 KOs) with a sixth-round technical knockout of New Jersey super bantamweight Victor "The Viper" Valenzuela (8-4, 1 KO).

Crowd-pleasing Greek heavyweight Sonya Lamonikis (7-0-2, 1 KO) kept her unbeaten record intact, taking a six-round majority decision over heavyweight Tanzee Daniels (4-2-1, 1 KO).

HBO’s BOXING AFTER DARK TRIPLE-HEADER “THE ROAD TO GLORY” WILL FEATURE EXCITING, UNDEFEATED WELTERWEIGHT PROSPECT ALEX “THE BRICK CITY BULLET” PEREZ VS. ANTONIN DECARIE FOR THE WBC INTERNATIONAL WELTERWEIGHT TITLE AND THE NABF WELTERWEIGHT TITLE ON HBO

NEWARK, NJ (September 27, 2012) Saturday night, September 29th, live from the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT, HBO Boxing After Dark will feature an exciting triple-header which will begin at 9:30PM with a bout between Alex “The Brick City Bullet” Perez and Antonin Decarie for Decarie’s WBC International Title and the vacant NABF Title. Many boxing insiders feel this match up can easily end up being the fight of the night.

Alex “The Brick City Bullet” Perez, 16-0, 9 KOs, is a tough and exciting fighter from Newark, NJ. Decarie, 26-1, 7 KOs, is also an action fighter, who has fought top competition and has been very successful. While neither fighter is a household name, both are top welterweights on the brink of stardom. When DiBella announced the fight he said, “It is a fight that people are legitimately excited about. Alex Perez is one of my best prospects and I think it's going to be a great fight with Antonin Decarie."

Since turning professional in 2004, Perez has experienced many ups and downs outside of the ring, but he has always trained hard and remained focused when in the ring under the tutelage of trainer/manager Jose Rosario.  He is selective with his company and he travels with a small circle of close friends and family that form “Team Perez”.  He is in the best shape of his life and is more than ready for Saturday, recently saying, “I always fight my heart out because I want to give my three sons a life that I always dreamed of and I also know my grandmother who passed away recently is watching over me.”

After an impressive amateur career, Alex successfully turned pro but was shot in the chest just weeks later. He recovered, returned to the sport and quickly found success back in the ring. However, just when things started to progress in his career again, Alex found himself looking at 30 years in prison while facing gun and aggravated assault charges. Perez, who prides himself on his faith and loyalty to his family and friends had that loyalty repaid when Danny Serratelli, a close friend who had trained with Perez since he was a teenager took the case pro bono. With the help of “Team Perez” the truth was brought to light and he was exonerated on all charges.  At that point Perez returned to the ring with a vengeance and after picking up a couple of wins he signed with promoter Lou DiBella.

Since signing with Lou DiBella he feels that he has been given the opportunities that he may have lacked in the past and he is now on the fast track to the top of the 147 pound division.  After his most recent unanimous decision victory over highly regarded Francisco “El Gato” Figueroa some people have finally started to take notice, but the fight with Decarie on HBO is the biggest of his career and he is ready to show the world who “The Brick City Bullet” is.  The powerful and rangy southpaw has a crowd pleasing style and always comes to fight 110%.  He is a difficult match up for any fighter and has served as the main sparring partner for champions such as Felix Sturm, Miguel Cotto, and most recently, Sergio Martinez.

The Canadian-born Antonin Decarie,  is the #8 ranked WBC welterweight and holder of the WBC International welterweight title. Since turning professional in 2005, Decarie has only lost one bout, a 12 round decision to Souleymane M'baye for the interm WBA World welterweight title back in 2010.
