FORMER DENVER BRONCO DEBUTS AT ROFMMA

FORMER DENVER BRONCO AND WWE STAR MEET IN THE CAGE AT ROFMMA:

Denver, CO -

Call it what ya like, this fight is straight up, PRO vs PRO. Aren't they both athletes? Sure, but rookies to Mixed Martial Arts. In an upcoming bout on June 2, these two former stars will fight for a name and place in MMA. Thirty year old, Demetrin Leandro Veal, of California and thirty-four year old, Chad Wicks, of Iowa will undoubtedly be bringing a show as they both make their debut at ROF 43.

Veal, an ex Defensive Tackle for the Denver Broncos, says he is "confident and good, going into this fight." Veal was picked out of Tennesse in the 7th round of the 2003 NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons and played briefly in Denver from 2004-2006. He retired in 2010 after a knee injury and has taken to training and fighting for fun. He's an athlete by nature and is going to give it everything he's got. While he's walking around at 6 foot 3 inches and 240 pounds, some might say that he has a significant advantage. Couple that with the fact that he's got a 5 inch height advantage over, 5 foot 9 inch 220 pound, Wicks and some might say that this one's over before it even starts. In this sport though, height and weight are just numbers on a sheet of paper. It's the components that show up in the cage, that matter.

Wicks, (A.K.A. Chad Dick) the former Pretty Boy WWE wrestler, is ready to make a serious transition into MMA. Sorry ladies, no Chippendale dancing or baby oil this time around! Chad officially embarked on his wrestling career in 2001 but really, is a seasoned wrestler, dabbling in the sport since childhood. He's moved from Boston to California and even to Japan to train, this guy's got drive! So, what shall we be expecting from this powerhouse? He's got experience, (not to mention the thick skin and endurance that was required to get tossed around like a rag doll), the love of the sport and a new baby to fight for. Oh and I can't leave Brock Lesnar out, we all saw what he did when he crossed over. Blah. No but really, who wouldn't be inspired? "I'm hungry and confident,"says Wicks, about his very first professional fight.

There's a lot to be said about both of these accomplished athletes but talk is cheap. Who wants it? Who's bringing the walk AND the talk?
