ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (September 25, 2012) -- Fresquez Productions held a press conference today to announce its "Fire And Ice" card, headlined by a rematch between 12-time, three-division world champion Holly "The Preacher's Daughter" Holm (31-2-3, 9 KOs) - the recognized pound-for-pound Queen of Boxing - and four-time world title-holder Myriam Lamare (20-3, 10 KOs) for the IFBA and IBA light welterweight titles on Friday night, December 7 at Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque.
"Fire And Ice," presented by Fresquez Productions in association with Route 66 Casino Hotel, will find Holly matched against a French boxer for her third straight fight having split her last two fights against Anne Sophie Mathis (25-2). Their most recent fight this past June resulted in a 10-round decision win for Holm for the IBA, WBF and WBAN welterweight championships.
Hold won a unanimous 10-round decision over Lamare (who will fight for only the second time outside of France) back on January 23, 2008 in Albuquerque, by scores of 98-92, 97-93 and 96-94 in Holm's successful WIBA welterweight title defense.
"Holly Holm has proven that she's the best pound-for-pound women's fighter in the world and Myriam Lamare is the No. 1 world-rated light welterweight," promoter Lenny Fresquez said. "Their first fight was very competitive and I don't expect anything less in their rematch on December 7 at the beautiful Route 66 Casino Hotel."
The 30-year-old Holm (31-2-3, 9 KOs) has defeated a Who's Who list of woman boxers from the 140 through 154-pound weight classes, including Mathis, Christy Martin, Mary Jo Sanders, Mia St. John, Jane Couch, Duda Yankovich and Chevelle Hallback (twice).
Lamare, a 37-year-old fighting out of Marseille, won a 10-round decision against Hallback in her last action (November 5, 2011) for the vacant IBF light welterweight crown.
"People tell me, 'At least this fight won't be so hard,'" Holm commented. "But I think that every fight is tough," Holm commented. "When Myriam and I met last time, it was one of my toughest fights. I felt like she had me guessing her game plan from round to round. I have faith in my promoter (Lenny Fresque3z), who always believes in me, and my trainer. I've become a better person in and out of the ring. I'm as nervous as I'll ever be, but I'm excited to take on the challenge."
Supporting fights showcasing local boxers was also announced: light welterweight Matthew "Champ" Baca (1-0, 1 KO) vs. TBA (6 rounds), female light welterweight Victoria "La Reina de la Guerra" Cisneros (6-13-2, 2 KOs) vs. Australian invader Diana Prazak (11-1, 7 KOs) in an eight-round bout, bantamweight Raymond "Hollywood" Montez (5-2, 3 KOs) vs. Jazzma Hogue (2-2-1) in a six-round match, undefeated welterweights Cristian Cabral (4-0 3 KOs) vs. Grant John (2-0), plus amateur standout featherweight Jason Sanchez will be making his pro debut vs. Gene Perez (1-0), , in a four-round fight. All fights and fighters are subject to change.

'Fire And Ice: Holly Holm vs. Myriam Lamare II' Dec. 7 at Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque

Holly 'The Preacher's Daughter' Holm The True Queen of Boxing
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (September 18, 2012) - The true Queen of Boxing is 12-time, three division world champion Holly "The Preacher's Daughter" Holm (31-2-3, 9 KOs), who this past June 15th avenged her loss last December 2nd to French knockout artist Ann Sophie Mathis (26-2, 22 KOs) at Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Fan-favorite Holm captured the IBA, WBF and WBAN title belts, as well as the mythical women's pound-for-pound crown, with her 10-round decision over Mathis, whose 26-fight win streak, dating back to 1995, was snapped.
"Holly overshadows the September 25 fight between (Cecilia) Braekhus and Mathis (in Denmark) because she's the best woman fighter in the world," Holm's promoter Lenny Fresquez said. "She proved it by beating Mathis. They're fighting for all but one belt that Holly relinquished. You have to beat the best in order to be the best and Holly has done that many, many times. Holly defeated Mathis to regain her pound-for-pound supremacy in women's boxing. The winner of Braekhus-Mathis may be the Princess, or Duchess of Boxing, but Holly Holm is the true Queen of Boxing. Braekhus and Mathis are fighting to determine the second-best woman boxer in the world today.
"Holly is one of the few female boxers ever to regularly sell-out fights, 3000 fans every show she headlines, something few men boxers do today. Despite being the second-best woman boxer in the world, Mathis was virtually unknown in women's boxing, outside of France, when she first fought Holly. She gained more media exposure fighting Holly than she had during her entire boxing career. Mathis was the best pound-for-pound women's boxer in the world for 7-½ months, until Holly beat her in their rematch, earning Holly the coveted No. 1 pound-for-pound title again. We will announce Holly's next fight on September 25, proving once again that she ducks no legitimate world title challenger."
During the course of her incredible 10-½ year professional career, Holm is 14-1-1 against other world champions, from the 140 through 154-pound weight classes, including Mathis, Christy Martin, Mary Jo Sanders, Mia St. John, Jane Couch,Chevelle Hallback (twice), Duda Yankovich, Terry Blair (twice), Anne Succurato(twice), Belinda Laracuente and Jaime Clampitt.

Officials named for Mathis-Holm II
'The Reckoning,' June 15 at Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque
|
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (June 4, 2012) - Officials have been named for the Fresquez Productions-presented "The Reckoning," featuring the International Boxing Association (IBA) and WBAN rematch between light welterweight champion Anne Sophie Mathis (26-1, 22 KOs) and nine-time World Champion Holly "The Preacher's Daughter" Holm (30-2-3, 9 KOs) to determine the mythical women's pound-for-pound championship, June 15 Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The judges, all from Las Vegas, will be Duane Ford, Dave Moretti and Lisa Giampi with Jon Schorle (El Dorado Hills, CA) as the referee.
"We wanted to insure fairness to both fighters, as well as eliminate any potential controversy, by having three of the most high-respected judges and referee working Mathis-Holm II," said Tom King, New Mexico Athletic Commission. "They are all among the most qualified officials in boxing."
Moretti and Giampa were judges for last December's initial fight between Mathis and Holm, in which Mathis won by seventh-round knockout.
Ford and Moretti have been judges for 35 years apiece. Ford has judged a 160-reported world title fights including Sugar Ray Leonard-Tommy Hearns I, Mike Tyson-Evander Holyfield II, Larry Holmes-Muhammad Ali and Salvador Sanchez-Wilfredo Gomez. Moretti has scored 110 world title matches including Julio Cesar Chavez-Meldrick Taylor, Bernard Hopkins, Oscar de la Hoya, Marvin Hagler-John Mugabi, and Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez II.
Giampa has judged seven world title fights in her five years, while Schorle has refereed 27 title fights in his 20 years as an official.

Anne Sophie Mathis planning to KO Holly Holm again
'The Reckoning,' June 15 at Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque
|
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (May 29, 2012) - Last December, French knockout artist Anne Sophie Mathis (26-1, 22 KOs) fought in the United States for the first time, stopping nine-time World Champion Holly "The Preacher's Daughter" Holm (30-2-3, 9 KOs) to capture International Boxing Association (IBA) and WBAN titles, as well as the mythical women's pound-for-pound championship.
Holm has lost only twice in nearly eight years, including her shocking seventh-round loss by knockout to Mathis, which snapped Holly's 24-fight unbeaten streak. Their much-anticipated 10-round rematch is set for June 15 at the same site as their Dec. 2 fight, headlining the Fresquez Productions presented "The Reckoning" at the Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
"I think this fight will be harder and I feel that I need to knockout her out again to win," Mathis said from her training camp in France. "I don't think she will come out looking to be confrontational. I'm certain there is an advantage for me having knocked her out, especially knowing that I'm fighting the same opponent in the same place. Physically and mentally, I'll be 100-percent in this fight.
"I haven't changed anything since our first fight. I've continued working to improve my technique and mental approach. I study my opponent so I am as prepared as possible. I don't disrespect anybody but trust in myself and my work."
In addition to defeating Holm, Mathis has beaten other world champions such as Myriam Lamare (twice), Jane Couch, Duda Yankovich, Ana Pascal and Nathalie Toro. Anne Sophie is on a 25-fight win streak, dating back to 1995 when she lost her second pro fight.
"For me it's impossible to change your boxing style in a few months," seven-time and reigning IBA/WBA World Champion Mathis noted. "She will return to her natural sources. I've studied most of her fights and know much more about her than she knows about me to win again. I'm not going to say much more other than I will be stronger than I was for our first fight. I am very strong. I expect her to fight defensively, trying to touch me and then escape to avoid confrontation.
"No matter the results of this fight, I hope to face (Celia) Breakhus at the end of the year, or I'll probably start thinking about retirement. I'm very satisfied with the American media but, on the other hand, disappointed that the French media has no interest in women's boxing."

Mathis vs. Holm II Confirmed For WBF World Title
It’s now confirmed that a rematch between perhaps the two best pound-for-pound female boxers in the world, and definitely the two best welterweights, Anne Sophie Mathis (26-1, 22 KOs) of France and American Holly Holm (30-2-3, 9 KOs), will take place on June 15 in Albuquerque, New Mexico for Mathis’ World Boxing Federation World Welterweight title.
This serves as clear indication that the WBF is already the top sanctioning body for female boxing, and WBF president Howard Goldberg, who will be acting as supervisor for the bout, is delighted about the progress his organization has made in short time: “We have many of the absolute best female boxers as our world champions, and it is only fitting that the rematch between these two amazing fighters is for the WBF title. I think it’s outstanding that the WBF is already at the very top when it comes to women’s boxing, but I am not surprised that promoters and boxers are realizing that our title is the title to pursue”.
Mathis and Holm had a grueling encounter last December with Mathis winning by seventh round knockout. As their original fight, the rematch, appropriately billed as “The Reckoning”, will take place at Route 66 Casino Hotel, and will be promoted by Fresquez Productions. It will be Mathis’ third defense of the WBF World title she won in June of last year.

'The Reckoning' Mathis vs. Holm II Announced for June 2 at Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque
Holly Holm
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (April 24, 2012) - Fresquez Productions held a press conference today to announce the much-anticipated June 15 rematch between French knockout-artist Anne Sophie Mathis and Holly "The Preacher's Daughter" Holm, universally considered the two best female boxers in the world, at Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque.
"The Reckoning," presented by Fresquez Productions in association with Route 66 Casino Hotel, will showcase a stylistic match-up between invading knockout specialist Mathis and the consummate boxer, southpaw Holm. Mathis will defend her IBA and WBAN welterweight title belts, as well as the mythical pound-for-pound crown, for the first time against the same opponent she upset to capture the straps from last December.
In her United States debut, at the same venue on top the "World Dominance" card, seven-time world champion Mathis scored a shocking seventh-round knockout of Holly, the local favorite who had been undefeated for more than seven years and her previous 24 consecutive fights.
"Anne Sophie Mathis and Holly Holm are the two best women fighters in the world," promoter Lenny Fresquez said. "Mathis proved herself but Holly is seeking retribution on June 15. Take nothing away from Anne Sophie, but Holly got out her game plan to box and got caught by some big punches. She plans to fight her fight, not Mathis' this time. Women boxing fans all over the world have been clamoring for the rematch and we're excited to be presenting it at the beautiful Route 66 Casino Hotel."
Mathis (26-1, 22 KOs) is riding a 25-fight win streak, dating back to 1995 when she lost her second pro fight. In addition to Holm, she's beaten other world champions such as Myriam Lamare (twice), Jane Couch, Duda Yankovich, Ana Pascal and Nathalie Toro.
Holm (30-2-3, 9 KOs) is a nine-time, three-division world champion who will be out to avenge her humbling loss last December at home to Mathis. Holly has defeated a Who's Who list of woman boxers from the 140 through 154-pound weight classes, including Christy Martin, Mary Jo Sanders, Mia St. John, Couch, Yankovich and Chevelle Hallback (twice).

Press Conference Quotes
Anne Sophie Mathis (via Skype): "Holly knows what to expect from me, obviously, since we've already fought. I don't expect anything but the best from Holly. She's a professional and I am not underestimating her in this fight."
" I will stay focused on the job at hand and i expect that I will have to continue to train hard. If she comes to me, I'll be defensive; if she backs up, I will be the aggressor." "I think Holly is a great athlete, a great fighter, but I am working on the knockout." "Since you didn't get to fight Cecilia Braekhus, how do you feel about being inactive since December." "It was a disappointment not being able to fight Braekhus. I've been taking this time to work on techniques." Holly Holm: "We're sticking to the plan, make no mistake about it. I had a bad day at the office. That will not happen this next fight."
"Retirement? Not in the very near future."
Promoter Lenny Fresquez: "I always knew Braekhus would back out of her fight with Mathis. Not once, but twice, and that's why I gave them (Mathis) permission to fight her (Braekhus). Shame on her (Braekus). I've never seen a fighter sick or injured has much as her. We tried for two years to make a fight (Braekus vs. Holm)but she is protected by a sharp promotional outfit that do not want to lose their investment. Fans know Sophie is The Champ but Holly is going get her belts back!"
