Pat Lynch Boxing signs Welterweight Clarence Booth

St. Petersburg, FL (October 15, 2014)--Respected boxing manager and former Manager of the Year, Pat Lynch is pleased to announce the signing of Welterweight prospect Clarence Booth to an exclusive managerial contract. Lynch, who was the former manager of Hall of Famer Arturo Gatti and currently manages Jr. Middleweight rising star Glen Tapia as well as undefeated Jr. Welterweight prospect Julian Rodriguez. Booth stumbled upon boxing by accident but deep down he knew that this could be his calling. "I was just trying to find myself and I knew I was gifted at street fighting.  I got in some trouble and wound up in a detention center where one of the people who worked there was female boxing champion Laura Ramsey." "I went to her gym and the rest is history." There he met trainer Nick Sityar and the two forged a bond as they have had many hurdles to get to this point. "He came from some trouble as a youth and he trained in Laura's gym. He was my only pupil and then when the gym closed down, we had to train in high school gyms, in parking lots and on tennis courts,"said Sityar. "But he has great natural talent.  He is a puncher-boxer with power in both hands.  He only started boxing at age 19 and he is very athletic." Booth had a brief 28 fight amateur career. He turned pro in 2011 with a four round unanimous decision over Tommy Bryant.  His only blemish was a controversial defeat to current undefeated Welterweight Cletis Seldin that was a fight marred in controversy. It was a rough fight where Seldin was even docked a point for illegal tactics. Since that fight, Booth has won six straight with four of those wins coming via stoppage.  In his last bout, Booth garnered his most impressive win by scoring a six round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Jonathan Perez (5-0) on June 6. Booth has facilitated his training by becoming a regular sparring partner to undefeated WBA Welterweight champion Keith Thurman. "When we go down to the Winky Wright Gym it is all love when I spar with Keith.  It is tremendous sparring and I have to stay sharp with technical skills.", continued Booth. Said Sityar of the sparring, "When we work with Keith, it's great work obviously and we get a lot of pointers from former trainer of the year Dan Birmingham.  Clarence is very coachable." Booth, who is a proud husband and father of four will return to action on Saturday, November 1st in Caguas, Puerto Rico.

MRI confirms Melson’s Tear; Treatment set for tomorrow!

 

 

New York, NY (July 28, 2014) – An MRI confirmed that junior middleweight and West Point graduate Captain Boyd “Rainmaker” Melson suffered a torn supraspinatus. Melson, 14-1-1 (4 KO’s), tore his supraspinatus, which is part of the rotator cuff, preparing for what would’ve been the biggest bout of his professional career against Glen Tapia at Madison Square Garden.

 

This marks Melson’s third tear since he started boxing, one of which forced him to give up his alternate slot in the 2008 Olympics. Thankfully, his injury won’t require surgery, and he’s receiving platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment tomorrow. For the treatment, a small amount of blood is drawn then spun in a centrifuge machine to separate the plasma. The plasma holds the growth factors that the human body uses for healing, and by spinning the blood, the doctor will have a concentrated medium of the body’s growth factor. This is then re-injected into the location of the injury. The PRP treatment followed by therapy should help Melson recover fairly quickly, though the initial post-treatment stage is rough.

 

“The PRP treatment is really going to help but it’s brutal at first,” said Melson. “The first 2-3 days, even the slightest movement causes extreme pain in the shoulder. This will be my third time having Dr. Andrew DeMann working on me. He works miracles and I can only hope for the same result.”

Melson Injures Rotator Cuff; Tapia Fight Off!

 

New York, NY (July 17, 2014) – Junior Middleweight Captain Boyd “Rainmaker” Melson has been forced to withdraw from his Saturday, July 26 bout against contender Glen Tapia.

 

Melson, who was in the best shape of his professional career and prepared in an extended training camp, believes he tore his left rotator cuff Tuesday during one of his final sparring sessions. A 2008 Olympic Alternate selection, the West Point grad gave up his spot after suffering the same injury. He’d also had his left rotator cuff operated on twice in the past, including in 2008 after tearing it.

 

“I felt it stretch when I was throwing a punch and I immediately knew something wasn’t right,” said the dejected Melson. “I tried to work through it but the pain only got worse. First, my shoulder started to throb then it got cold. Since I hurt my rotator cuff and had surgery twice in the past, I know what a tear feels like.”

 

Even though he had a feeling what just took place the second his shoulder started hurting, he was hoping the pain would go away. Unfortunately, it didn’t.

 

“I didn’t want to believe it because I’ve worked incredibly hard and understand the significance of the Tapia fight. Not only was it a dream of mine to fight at Madison Square Garden, but a victory over Tapia would’ve put me in position to start earning significant money for Team Fight to Walk. This is truly devastating and I am heartbroken, especially after what happened during my last fight. I’m very emotional right now and don’t know what the future holds.”

Diaz of Palmdale, CA. hurt Sanchez with a flurry of hard shots at the end of the second round and when Sanchez sat on his stool after the round, he had decided he had enough and Diaz had the stoppage victory.

It was Diaz eleventh win without a defeat with the tenth coming via stoppage.  Sanchez of Buffalo, NY is now 13-7-1.

In the co-feature, Glen “Jersey Boy” Tapia (15-0, 9 KO’s) dropped late replacement Franklin Gonzalez (15-11) twice en route to a first round blowout in a scheduled eight round Middleweight bout.

LaManna, 20, was originally scheduled to fight on the July 27^th but due to a death in the family, as well as numerous opponents pulling out, LaManna was left without an opponent.

"It sucks when you trained so hard for all those weeks and the sacrifices you have to make, only to end up not fighting. It’s a part of the business" LaManna said with a grin on his face.   Just days before the 27^th, LaManna lost his Uncle, who he was very close with. "Losing my Uncle Al took a huge toll on me and my family, but I have to stay strong and grind it out".

LaManna has no doubt in his mind that this fight with Leiva will be his toughest to date.  Leiva, 33, of Nashville, TN now residing in Brooklyn NY is coming off of a first round TKO defeat to Undefeated prospect Frank Galarza (7-0)That fight took place on June 8^th in Woodhaven, NY.   In his fight before that, Leiva upset than undefeated local favorite Benny Costantino, 7-0.
