Cage Warriors 67: Update

London, England (March 13, 2014) - Martin McDonough will make his flyweight debut in his native Wales at Cage Warriors 67 next month.

The event, set to be hosted by The LC in Swansea, takes place on Saturday, April 12, and will be headlined by a CWFC bantamweight title bout between James Brum and defending champion Brett Johns.

McDonough (11-4), who went 3-0 under the CWFC banner as a bantamweight, will face Shaj Haque (4-1) in his first bout in the 125lbs division, with Haque looking to rebound from his first career loss at the hands of Paul Marin last October.

Also added to the CWFC 67 bill is a lightweight tussle between Sean Carter (8-1) and Wesley Murch (13-7), along with seven other bouts.

Cage Warriors December fight card updates

London, United Kingdom (December 2, 2013) - Cage Warriors Fighting Championship officials have today confirmed several updates to the promotion’s hectic December schedule.

The final month of 2013 will see CWFC stage events in England, Jordan and Ireland, bringing the curtain down on the busiest year in the promotion’s history.

That schedule begins with Cage Warriors 62 this Saturday, December 7, in Newcastle, England, where injuries to Cory Tait and Alan Johnston have seen new opponents drafted in for Jordan Desborough and Tommy Quinn respectively.

Quinn will now take on Gateshead native Dan Hope at a catchweight of 176lbs, while Desborough will clash with Irishman Martin Sheridan in a 139lbs catchweight bout.

Next up is Cage Warriors 61 in Amman, Jordan, on Friday, December 13, where English bantamweight James Brum will aim for his seventh consecutive Cage Warriors win when he clashes with Russia’s Marat Pekov.

Cage Warriors 62: Fight card update

London, United Kingdom (October 31, 2013) - The bill for Cage Warriors 62 in Newcastle is taking shape following today’s addition of a further seven bouts – including two women’s bantamweight contests – to the December 7 card.

However, Brett Johns’ first CWFC bantamweight title defence will have to wait until 2014, with the champion forced to withdraw from his clash with James Brum at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena due to injury. A replacement opponent is now being lined up for Brum, but it’s hoped that Johns will be fit to put his belt up for grabs early next year.

Cage Warriors 62 in Newcastle, which will see Neil Seery defend his CWFC flyweight strap against Ulysses Gomez, will also feature the CWFC debut of local star Curt Warburton, after it was announced yesterday that he has signed an exclusive deal with the promotion. Warburton’s opponent will be revealed in due course.

Cage Warriors 51: Brum v Benkaci

London, England (December 14, 2012) - JAMES BRUM will aim for his fourth CWFC win of 2012 when he takes on Moktar Benkaci at Cage Warriors 51 on New Year’s Eve.

The pair will clash in a bantamweight bout on the December 31 card at The Helix in Dublin for Cage Warriors’ second visit to the Irish capital this year.

The event will be co-headlined by a pair of title bouts as Chris Fields defends his middleweight strap for the first time against Jesse Taylor, followed by the meeting of Conor McGregor and Ivan Buchinger for the vacant lightweight belt.

Brum (10-2), who trains alongside UFC flyweight Phil Harris at Portsmouth’s Gym 01, has made massive strides in the 135lbs division this year, rising to fourth in the European rankings courtesy of wins over Leandro Gontijo, Thomas Back and James Saville.

Benkaci (8-3), a highly-rated Frenchman with an impressive CV, moves down to bantamweight to face Brum having dropped a decision loss to top-ten European featherweight Joni Salovaara in October.
