Hurd decisions Sanchez in main event at Harrahs Philadelphia

Plus wins by Douglas, Santiago, Fulton, Plant and Newman  Chester, PA (December 8, 2014)--This past Friday at Harrahs Philadelphia, some of the best young prospects in the country were featured on a six bout card promoted by King's Promotions and XFE.   In the main event, Jarrett Hurd held on the defeat late replacement Emmanuel Sanchez via six-round majority decision on a Middleweight bout.   Hurd was aggressive early and took the first half of the fight.  Sanchez, who took the bout on just two days notice came back and befuddled Hurd by boxing off the back foot and landing straight left hands.   Hurd's early work was the difference by winning by scores of 59-55, 58-56 and 57-57 to raise his perfect mark to 14-0.  Sanchez is now 5-2   In the co-feature, good looking Jr. Lightweight prospect Omar Douglas scored an impressive first round stoppage over Osnel Charles in a scheduled six-round bout.   Douglas looked very sharp and then landed a booming left hook that slumped Charles between the bottom and second rope and the fight was stopped at 2:21 of round one.   Douglas of Wilmington, Delaware is now 13-0 with 10 knockouts.  Charles of Atlantic City is now 10-13-1.   18 year-old Milton Santiago Jr. boxed very well in pounding out a 4-round unanimous decision over Travis Thompson in a Lightweight bout.   Santiago, who is showing improvement in each battle fought off Thompson's hard work inside to win by shut out of 40-36 on each card.   Santiago, who is a Sr. at William Tennent High School improves his mark to 8-0.  While Thompson falls to 7-12-3.   Stephen Fulton of Philadelphia stayed perfect by scoring a 4-round unanimous decision over Benjamin Burgos.   Fulton, who was a Philadelphia amateur of the year, used quick hooks and straight right hands to offset the hard charging Burgos.   Fulton landed the much cleaner blows and Burgos was docked a point in the final round for hitting behind the head.   Fulton, 20 years old of Philadelphia won by scores of 40-35 on all cards and is now 3-0.    Former amateur standout Caleb Plant was impressive in stopping Darryl Gardner in the first round of their scheduled 4-round Middleweight bout.   Plant of Tennessee, dropped Gardner with a vicious double left combination and Gardner was down for a several minutes.   The bout was stopped at at 1:35 of round one and Plant's record is now 5-0 with 4 KO's.  Gardner of Washington is now 2-5.   In the opening bout, Brooklyn's Earl Newman boxed well with his jab before taking out Jade Ealy in the first round of their scheduled 4-round Cruiserweight bout.   Newman landed stiff jabs before opening up a hard flurry on the ropes.  Ealy covered up and the bout was stopped at 2:57 of round one.   Newman is now 3-0 with 3 knockouts.  Ealy is 1-2.   King's Promotions will be back with another outstanding card just after the new year.

Cipparone sees title shot with victory Friday night

Philadelphia, PA (March 20, 2014)--This Friday night at Harrahs Philadelphia,

Eric "Outlaw" Hunter will take on Yenifel Vicente for the USBA Featherweight title.

Hunter and Vicente weighed in at 125.5 lbs for their fight.

The 10-round bout will highlight a big card promoted by Joey Eye Boxing Promotions.

Hunter (17-3, 9 KO's) of Philadelphia was a 2004 Olympic Alternate and his manager, Club 1957 Management's Mark Cipparone feels that the 27-year old Hunter is ready to finally take that next step into being a top contender at 126 pounds.

"This is definitely the time for Eric to shine," said Cipparone.

He has a record of 12-5 with 7 knockouts and is coming off a very controversial defeat to Anthony Caputo Smith for the Pennsylvania State Cruiserweight title on January 31. The bout was a close battle that saw Ferrante score a knockdown during the fight but Caputo got the split decision victory by scores of 95-94 twice and 95-94 for Ferrante. "Caputo knows he lost that fight," said Ferrante.  "I am looking forward to fighting him again on May 9.  We looked at the tape and when i knocked him down he got 15 seconds.  But he admitted to me he lost the fight and told me he will give me a rematch." Ferrante is happy to get his second fight in less than two months as he had a tumultuous 2013 as when he thought he scored the biggest win of his career as he scored an explosive knockout over previously undefeated Isa Akberbayev but was later changed to a no-contest after a post fight drug test came up positive.  Ferrante was never given a reason for the positive test and he is insistent that he never took any banned substance. "It is beautiful to get back in the ring so quick.  The situation in New York depressed me.  The decision to Caputo played with my mind but I am happy to get back in there." When facing Martinez, Ferrante will be facing someone he is more than familiar with.   "I have sparred hundreds of rounds with Pedro.  We worked in the same gym for years and sometimes would spar four times a week.  This is not a fight I asked for but he was the only guy available that would fight." Eric Hunter to take on Yenifel Vicente for USBA Featherweight title on March 21 at Harrahs Philadelphia

KAUFFMAN DISMANTLES BARNETT IN ONE IN READING!!

READING, PA (December 1, 2013)—Before a raucous crowd of almost 5,600 patrons at the Santander Arena in Reading, PA, WBA number-10 ranked Heavyweight Travis Kauffman destroyed late replacement Jason Barnett inside of one round to capture the WBU Intercontinental championship.

The show was promoted by King’s Promotions.

Kauffman came out and boxed well until he landed a crushing body shot that sent Barnett down to his knees.  Barnett got up but not for long as a right to the head sent him down for a second time.  Barnett would get to his feet but a barrage of punches sent Barnett for a third and final time and fight was stopped 2:09 into the contest.

With the win, Kauffman is now 27-1 with 20 knockouts and 28 year-old native of Reading will now look for a big fight.

Kauffman is promoted by Greg Cohen Promotions.

Barnett of Clearwater, Florida stepped in on just five days notice after Manuel Quezada failed to turn in the proper work, drops to 14-15.

In the exciting co-feature,  Frankie De Alba scored three knockdowns en route to a fourth round stoppage over Osnel Charles in a scheduled eight round Lightweight bout.

De Alba dropped Charles in round’s two, three, and four and landed many more hard shots during the bout.  Charles gave as good as he received but the power of De Alba proved to be too much as the bout was finally stopped at 57 seconds of round four.

De Alba of Reading, PA improves to 10-1-2 with four knockouts (he has won 8 in a row and unbeaten in his last 12 fights).  Charles of Atlantic City is now 9-8-1.

Evincii Dixon dropped Rafael Montalvo in round three and scored a six round split decision in their Welterweight clash.  Scores were 58-55 and 57-57 for Dixon while a 3rd judge some how saw it 60-55 for Montalvo.

Dixon is now 3-3-1.  Montalvo is 3-5.

Emil Rodriguez and Travis Thompson battled to a spirited and crowd pleasing four round draw in a Lightweight battle.

Rodriguez took a card 39-37 while two cards read 38-38.  Rodriguez is 0-3-1.  Thompson is now 4-11-3.

Khalib “Big Foot” Whitmore of Philadelphia remained perfect by scoring a 1st round stoppage over Mark Baltimore in a Light Heavyweight battle.

The time was 2:34 of round one for Whitmore who is now 4-0 with 3 knockouts.  Baltimore is now 1-3.

Randy Easton opened the show with 43 second destruction over William Monroe in a scheduled four round Heavyweight bout.

Easton gets his first victory and is now 1-2-1.  Monroe is 0-2.
