After Maiden Victory, Rose Set To Bloom On June 14th

Chatham Light Welterweight Ricky Rose is set to make his second pro outing on June 14^th, when he fights on the undercard of the Ian Bailey vs Mike Robinson International Masters Championship bout, at the Johnny Eames TRAD TKO Events promoted FAST & FURIOUS 2 – CAPITAL PUNISHMENT show at the Troxy in Limehouse, London.

Just last month Ricky made a successful debut, scoring a resounding 40-36 shut-out points victory over London based Bulgarian Danny Donchev, on the esteemed Mr. Eames’ ALL GUNS BLAZING event.

No surprise then that when Johnny started to put together the card for FAST & FURIOUS 2 – CAPITAL PUNISHMENT, Ricky was automatically included, even though it would be just six weeks after his maiden outing.

Following a training session at the TRAD TKO gym in Canning Town, the chirpy former Royal Marine could barely hide his excitement when speaking about his upcoming second pro bout.

“Yeah, finally got the debut out of the way on the 26^th April.

From the disappointment in March, from when I was supposed to making it, when I had to settle for an exhibition match, yeah finally got the debut out of the way with a good win and the next one is coming up fast, on the 14^th June.

Johnny (manager and promoter Johnny Eames) is moving me on quick, which is what I want, I want to be kept active, especially the first part of my career and until we start hitting the bigger fights you know.

Tommy Martin’s a brilliant example of what can be produced here at the TRAD TKO, from early doors Johnny got him really active and on his eighth fight got him a title shot, hopefully my career will mirror this.

I’m really looking forward to getting back in the ring on the 14^thJune, it’s again at the Troxy in Limehouse and yeah I can’t wait to show all my supporters what I can do again.

I had brilliant support last time out and hopefully we can match it or better it this time around.”

Amateur Star Ricky Rose Set For Pro Debut On March 8th

Back in August last year, TRAD TKO head honcho Johnny Eames announced that he had signed the exciting former Royal Navy amateur star Ricky Rose, today the esteemed Mr. Eames further announced that Ricky will make his pro debut at the upcoming Fast & Furious event at the Cresset in Peterborough on Saturday March 8^th.

Canterbury based Ricky won various accolades as an amateur, including winning the schoolboys twice, the first time aged just twelve, the Four Nations as well as represented his Country twice in the Seniors, his only disappointment during this time was that he never got to box in the ABAs, due to his military commitments.

Following a training session, at the TRAD TKO Gym in Canning Town, Ricky spoke briefly on his upcoming debut.

“As I said before I have always been a keen boxer, ever since the age of ten, I’ve been competing for thirteen years, on and off between the age of seventeen and now because of joining the Royal Marines.

Yeah, this is it, now I’m in full time training, hopefully we’re going to sort some sponsorship out so I can keep training full time.

I’m really looking forward to the big day, it’s a TRAD TKO show in Peterborough, it’s looking like a real promising show, it’s a shame it’s not a bit more local to myself, I’m now living in Canterbury but I still reckon we’ll get as many of my crew up there to support me, I’m sure there would be a lot more if it was in London though.

Training’s going really well. I’m blessed that Johnny Eames is back in business coaching me, alongside Brian O’Shaughnessy, so I’ve got the best of both worlds and double the pain.

Even though I’ve had a successful amateur career, we all know the pro game is a lot different, so we’re working on my style now, getting a lot more power in my punches while keeping the sharpness, so it’s going good.

I have a fantastic group of fans, hopefully more will start to follow me along the way, I’ve just got wicked support, from family to friends, from all over and the good thing about coming out the Royal Marines you’ve got a fan base for life, as well as your family and people from your home town, which will get right behind me when I fight, yeah can’t wait.”

TRAD TKO’s Johnny Eames Signs Top Navy Amateur Ricky Rose

With two highly successful promotions under his belt, Johnny Eames has been busy scouring the amateur scene for future stars, for his TRAD TKO Events promotional outfit.

Exceptional former Navy boxer Ricky Rose becomes the latest amateur star to sign professional papers with the savvy East London legend’s expanding empire.

Following signing with the esteemed Mr. Eames young Ricky spoke briefly about his amateur career and his decision to turn over.

“I started boxing at the age of ten, my dad (Keith Rose) got me into it and inspired me to take up boxing at an early age.

I loved it, first time I went to the gym I just sat there and watched everyone train, realised I loved it and went from there.

I started competing, winning a few of my fights and went into the schoolboy championships for the first time at the age of twelve, yeah won my first national championship at the age of twelve.

My dad trained me at the Golden Gloves Gym, in Medway, Kent, went on from there to St Mary’s, again won the schoolboys there, followed by the Four Nations.

I stayed there for a few years until I started working, after starting working I soon learned just how hard it is to keep up the training let alone competing, so I joined the Military, The Royal Marine Commandos, because I knew I would be able to still box.

I loved it, I had great training, firstly with Stu O’Connor and then by Graham Aldersen, it really paid off, In the Seniors I boxed for England twice, but never got the chance to box into the ABAs, due to my Military commitments.

Got in the combines but always got robbed, I mean there’s so much rivalry between the Navy and Army that sometimes the judging was a bit suspect.

My last fight I had in the combines was against Martin Stead, he was a three time ABA Champion. Everyone thought I won it, I thought I won it.

Four and a half years I stayed in there for, as well as boxing on the team full time also did a tour in Afghanistan so I was doing a lot of soldiering as well as boxing, I loved it, it is intense but it was awesome.

As I said I spent four and half years in there and I’m twenty three now so feel it’s time for me to go into the pro game, so joined Johnny (Eames) at the TRAD TKO.

John Murray introduced to the TRAD TKO when I was in the Navy, he introduced me to the guys up here. Come up here and loved it, it’s ideal, it’s about a half hour commute in the morning, which isn’t too drastic.

You come here and put the effort in you get back everything and more you put into it.

I’ve signed with Johnny, but before I start my pro career I’m going to do a little traveling, I’m off to Asia next month to get it out of my system before committing full time to the boxing.

I’ll be going there for a couple of months and then when I come back I’ll be straight into the training camp for my pro debut.”
