MULPETER WITHDRAWS FROM CWFC 74

Tom Breese will now face 22-year-old Frenchman Thibaud Larchet (6-1) this Saturday, following the late withdrawal of Philip Mulpeter.


 

(London, United Kingdom | Thursday, November 13, 2014) - Philip Mulpeter (pictured) has pulled out of his welterweight bout against Tom Breese, which was scheduled to take place at Cage Warriors 74 at the Copper Box Arena in London this Saturday, November 15.

Mulpeter sustained a cut above his left eye in training on Tuesday evening, and CWFC officials were informed by e-mail of his decision to withdraw at 4:59pm GMT yesterday (Wednesday, November 12).

The incident occurred as a result of a clash of heads with a team-mate, during what Mulpeter’s camp described as “light sparring drills”.

Cage Warriors Fighting Championship has succeeded in securing a replacement opponent for Tom Breese, however, with 22-year-old Frenchman Thibaud Larchet (6-1) stepping in at short notice for his CWFC debut.

Larchet will fly in to London from Nice tomorrow morning, and the clash with Breese is still scheduled as a welterweight (170lbs) contest.

“Hats off to our matchmaker Ian Dean for sourcing a replacement at the last minute, and to Tom Breese for accepting the change of opponent in these circumstances,” said Cage Warriors Fighting Championship CEO Graham Boylan.

“While this situation has resulted in us taking a hit financially, I’m just happy that we’ve been able to ensure that a fighter’s eight-week training camp wasn’t for nothing, and that another fighter has been given a great opportunity to compete on such a big stage.

“I wish Philip Mulpeter a speedy recovery, but I was disappointed to learn that he was sparring three days before a weigh-in, which doesn’t seem wise to me. The fans are now missing out on what was a highly-anticipated bout.

“But that’s the sport. We’ll move on, as we’ve always done, and I’m looking forward to seeing Tom Breese make his long-awaited CWFC debut against an opponent who comes in from France with a very good reputation.”

Meanwhile, CWFC officials remain hopeful of securing a replacement opponent for Arnold Allen today, after the English featherweight saw two previous opponents withdraw inside the past week.

A lightweight bout between English pair Saul Rogers and Mick Sinclair has today been added to the bill for Cage Warriors Fighting Championship’s thirteenth event of the year. Cage Warriors 74 will take place on Saturday, November 15, at the Copper Box Arena in the Olympic Park in London, England, and tickets are currently on sale via Ticketmaster.co.uk, priced from just £25 (plus booking fee). Rogers (8-1) returns to action at CWFC 74 on the back of the biggest win of his career so far this past March in Dublin, Ireland. The 24-year-old, who represents Manchester’s SBG camp, upset five-time UFC veteran John Maguire in the main event at CWFC 65, taking a unanimous-decision triumph. With six of his eight career victories coming by way of submission, Rogers holds other notable wins over Artem Lobov, Martin Sheridan and Jason Cooledge. “I’m looking forward to being back in action in London and I’m glad I’ve got a tough match-up in Mick Sinclair, because I want to keep evolving by testing myself against the best guys in the division,” said Rogers. “We’re both explosive fighters so I think it’ll make for a very exciting fight on the night. Cage Warriors Super Saturday Update

London, England (May 12, 2014) - The bumper bill for Cage Warriors 69: Super Saturday has today been boosted by the addition of three more exciting bouts.

Cage Warriors 69: Super Saturday, which is set to feature two main cards in one evening, will take place on Saturday, June 7, at The Forum in Kentish Town, London, England.

Colliding in a lightweight contest, Australia’s Damien Brown and Englishman Saul Rogers will both return to action for the first time since their respective bouts at CWFC 65 in Dublin back in March.

Brown (10-6) put on a Fight of the Night performance against Paul Redmond before losing out via decision, while Rogers (8-1) edged out John Maguire after three thrilling rounds in the main event.

Cage Warriors 57 fight card update

Please note that injury has forced Aldric Cassata to withdraw from Cage Warriors 57 this weekend so Danny Roberts will now face Irish/Nigerian 21-year-old Henry Fadipe (5-5-1) in a 180lbs catchweight bout. 

Furthermore, following the withdrawal of Lee Chadwick earlier this week due to injury, it hasn't been possible to source a suitable replacement opponent for Mats Nilsson on such short notice so that fight has now been removed from the bill.

As a result, the featherweight bout between Chris Fishgold and Marcin Wrzosek has been promoted to the main card, with the welterweight meeting of Steve Dinsdale and Dan Rushworth being bumped up to the Facebook prelims.

Cage Warriors 57 fight card update

Unfortunately there have been a number of enforced changes to the card for Cage Warriors 57 in Liverpool on Saturday. 

On the main card, Danny Roberts will now take on Aldric Cassata (6-5), who replaces the injured Mauro Chimento; Jack Mason faces Ali Arish (19-2) instead of Bruno Carvalho; a new opponent is currently being sought for Mats Nilsson following the withdrawal of Lee Chadwick due to injury. On the prelims, Jason Cooledge(8-4) steps in for the injured Lew Long to take on Saul Rogers.
