Tornado Goodjohn ready to explode on Saturday night

“Tornado” Tyler Goodjohn and Belarusian banger Andrei Hramyka weighed in Friday ahead of their clash for the International Masters Light- Welterweight title at Watford Colosseum  on Saturday night.

Goodjohn, accompanied by trainer Peter Sims, weighed in dead on the limit at 10 stone while Hramyka weighed in 1 lb under at 9 stone 13 lbs.

Goodjohn--who last time out won the British version of the tile--said, “I have trained so hard for this and am in tip top shape."

Hramyka said through his interpreter, “For the first time I have had a proper training camp. I will knock out Goodjohn inside three rounds.” Hramyka has stopped 9 of his 10 victims in round 1 so has the credentials to back up his boasts.

This exciting title fight headlines a seven fight card with two locals boys Liam Shinkwin (Light-Welterweight) and Miles Shinkwin (Light-Heavyweight) both having International 6 round contests and an intringuing heavyweight clas between combacking Tom “Not So” Little and Carl “The fridge” Baker.

Heavyweight AJ Carter takes on Belfast’s Moses Matovu whilst Cheshunt’s Dave Leon makes his professional debut at Lightweight.

Tickets will be available on the door. Boxing commences at 7.30 pm.

Connor: Tell Martin I’ll Come To His Back Yard, Smash Him Up And Take His Title

DANNY 'CASSIUS' CONNOR
British Welterweight Champion
BBBofC Southern Area Light Welterweight Champion

For Immediate Release

London - Tuesday, 18th December 2012

British Masters Welterweight and Southern Area Light Welterweight Champion Danny ‘Cassius’ Connor has his eyes on an even bigger prize in the New Year, Steve Martin’s newly won WBU Light Welterweight International Title.

Hackbridge, Surrey’s Connor has had a magnificent year on the Championship trail. His first big scalp of the year was that of Ely, Cambs’ exciting young prospect Tyler Goodjohn, who he beat by a single point in a storming, all action British Masters Welterweight Title Battle Royale at York Hall back in May.

His second was even bigger, Eddie Hearn’s then unbeaten star, Enfield’s Chris ‘The Flash’ Evangelou, for the vacant BBBofC Southern Area strap at Hearn’s Matchroom Sport promoted mega event at Alexandra Palace in
September.

Connor now wants to move on from the domestic to the International scene and the challenge to Pieta, Malta’s Steve Martin seems to be a logical move.

Martin, who won the coveted belt last Friday with a fifth round stoppage over German hard man Sabri Ulas Goecmen, is far less experienced than Connor, having only fought seven times previously to the Surrey man’s
thirteen outings.

Following another grueling training session, at the TRAD TKO Boxing Gym in the heart of London’s East End, a clearly irked Connor spoke of his intention to rip the belt from the grip of Martin.

“I want to get it out there that Steve Martin from Malta is a fraud, he’s fought no one and I want to go over there and smash him up and take his title.

If he’s a man, he should accept my challenge. I’m not even saying I’ll fight him over here, I’ll come to his back yard and bash him up.

So if you’re a man Steve let’s get it on, let’s do this, I’ll come to your back yard and I’ll smash you up in front of all your mates, whatya say bruv.”

21 year-old 'Tornado' Tyler Goodjohn aims to get back to winning ways on December 8th in Brentwood - and has hired a former champion as his trainer

Goodjohn won his first five fights before suffering a surprise defeat at the hands of Vinny Woolford a year ago. A routine win followed but then in a very close fight which could have gone either way, Tyler dropped a decision by a single point to current Southern Area champion Danny Connor.

A week on Saturday he faces Sylwester Walczak from Poland who has lost only two from six fights.
Since his loss to Connor, Goodjohn has appointed Steve Spartacus as his trainer and signed a long term deal with Goodwin Promotions. Spartacus was the first ever English light-heavyweight champion back in 2003 and also twice challenged for the Lonsdale belt.

“I feel in tremendous shape," said Goodjohn. “I have been working incredibly hard with my new trainer Steve Spartacus, who has added so much to my game. I am still very young in boxing terms but I have experienced a lot early and I have 100% confidence that my ability and determination will win titles.

"I will start by showing on December 8th that 2013 is going to be my year. I will be bringing the Fen Army to Essex who always do me proud and there will definitely be a tornado in Essex.”

Promoter Steve Goodwin added: “I am delighted to have signed Tyler. He is a very determined young man and things just have not fallen his way. I have total confidence that from now on Tyler will be able to fulfil his dreams and I look forward to being a part of it and helping him achieve his goals.”

Goodjohn's bout is one of eight being shown live and for free on Primetime (Sky 498) from 5.30 pm on Saturday December 8th. The mammoth 'Earthquake in Essex' card features 15 bouts in total.

The show is headed by a rematch for the Southern Area light-middleweight title between Kris Agyei-Dua and Nathan Graham. The fight that has created the most public interest and the one everyone wants to see is the grudge heavyweight clash between rejuvenated former amateur star Ian Lewison and undefeated Welsh prospect Dorian Darch (6-0).

Recording star John Tubby will perform his forthcoming single as an added attraction.
Tickets can be bought at www.goodwinpromotions.co.uk or by calling 01525 851150.

TRAD TKO Fighters Head Up May 20th London Mega Show

Over the past few years Miranda Carter has been quietly pioneering a series of Sunday afternoon events at York Hall in Bethnal Green. In the past these events have featured maybe six or seven bouts, however her latest offering, which takes place this coming Sunday, is far from low key affair, instead entering the mega event zone with a fourteen bout card.

The event, titled ‘Rolling Thunder’, heavily features fighters from Johnny Eames’ famous Canning Town fight factory - the TRAD TKO Boxing Gym.

Originally the event was to feature just three of the East London trained stars but after Butch Lesley had to withdraw from the original headlining British Masters title bout with Menay Edwards, this was increased to five, including the new headlining bout, a rematch between Hackbridge, Surrey’s Danny Connor and Ely, Cambridgshire’s Tyler Goodjohn, this time for the British Masters Welterweight title.

Last time these two met, back in March last year, Goodjohn came out on top, however things may be a little different this time around, as Connor has really turned his career around, racking up five top class wins out of six outing. Goodjohn on the other hand has had just two wins out of three, and the loss was a brutal knockout dished out by the forceful hands of Vinny Woolford in November last year.

Heading up the support is Connor’s TRAD TKO gym mate, former British Cruiserweight Champion Leon ‘Solid’ Williams, who will be making his first appearance since the shock loss of his coveted Lonsdale belt back in
January.

Surprisingly Williams isn’t looking for an easy fight, to ease himself back, oh no the man nicknamed ‘Solid’ is so determined to get back on the Championship trail that he has elected to face Lithuania’s #1 ranked Remigijus Ziausys.

Also on the support card is rising Cruiserweight star Menay Edwards, who will be making his first outing under the TRAD TKO banner. Edwards, whose record stands at 7-1, will be looking to impress, against unbeaten
Lawrence Bennett, in order to earn the right for a tilt at the Southern Area title later this year.

Making his debut at the event is yet another TRAD TKO newbie, Eric ‘Congo Warrior’ Mokonzo, who will be receiving a baptism of fire at the hands of Hayes hardman Darren McKenna.

Former World amateur #2 female boxer Areti Mastrodouka is the fifth of the TRAD TKO squad that will take part in the ‘Rolling Thunder’ event. In her debut, at Miranda Carter’s March 2012 event, Mastrodouka put on a stylish
display to beat Kristine Shergold by a 60-55 points margin.

On the 20th May, 36 year old Mastrodouka is set to face a much younger opponent in 20 year old Latvian #1 ranked featherweight Julija Cvetkova.

Of the non-TRAD TKO contingent, the pick of the bunch sees Epsom, Surrey’s unbeaten Middleweight J.M. Coyle face a stern test, as he takes on Wickford, Essex hardman Danny Brown. Coyle may have the unbeaten record but Brown will be no walk over especially as he’ll be looking to extend his excellent run of a win and a draw against previously unbeaten opponents so far in 2012.

Another potential cracker sees two unbeaten fighters, Light Welterweights Luke Fowler and John Brennan, battle it out.

Also on the card are unbeaten foursome, Upminster Lightweight Ryan Taylor, Stratford Super Middleweight Scott Hartley, Luton Light Welterweight Danny Mulhern and Kensington Middleweight Daley Ojuederie, who will be joined by debutantes, Bexleyheath Lightweight Jack Dishart, Middleweight Alex McKay and Tilbury Welterweight Matt McCarthy - who are all against yet to be named opponents.

Tickets for Rolling Thunder, featuring the TRAD TKO five, Danny Connor, Leon Williams, Menay Edwards, Eric Mokonzo or Areti Mastrodouka, at York Hall, Bethnal Green in London on Sunday 20th May 2012 are priced Ł35, Ł45 and Ł65 are available on line at www.tkoboxoffice.com or in person at the TRAD TKO Boxing Gym, Gillian House, Stephenson Street, Canning Town, London E16 4SA
