ALANTEZ FOX IMPROVES TO 11-0-1, 4 KO'S

April 27, 2013 - Boxing 360 promoted prospect Alantez Fox remains undefeated after pitching a shutout against Keith Collins on a card held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Tulsa, Oklahoma this past Thursday. Fox (11-0-1, 4KOs) was origanlly slated to face Djolevi Ballogou on April 20th, but after some unforeseen issues that prevented Ballogou from competing Boxing360 quickly stepped in and salvaged the effort Fox put forth preparing for his initial date, delaying his appearance by a mere 5 days. Fox earned the unanimous decision victory over Collins by the judges' scores of 60-54, 60-54, and 60-53.

Fox was superb in his latest outing, showcasing a wider range of skills not previously seen in his earlier fights, proving he is improving quicker than most prospects. At 21 years old, Fox is already an impressive physical specimen, evident of his last performance, but he feels he is constantly getting stronger and believes he has yet to reach his physical peak.

"I felt great and I want to thank Boxing 360 for allowing me to do what I love, especially when most guys in my position would've had to sit out and wait several weeks or even months to compete after a postponement. I honestly feel like I'm getting stronger every day, my opponent was lucky we fought when we did because another week or so and I'd be even more dangerous, I truly feel that way. My training camps aren't a chore to me, I'm actually excited every day in the gym to see how far I progress day to day," Fox said.

Fox didn't just show physical superiority, he demonstrated a refined sense of boxing ability as well.

"I'm confident in my skills, but I'm also a student of the game and I know that even at the highest level you have to continue to improve on your craft. We were preparing for one guy and then we had to quickly prepare for another, but that's good experience for me and it never changed the things we do in the gym to fine tune my technical ability," Fox said.

Mario Yagobi of Boxing360 was happy to oblige Fox and was pleased with the progress he's making thus far in his career. He is looking to grant Fox his wishes and keep him busy.

"We'll get him in there again real soon, that's what he wants and it's refreshing to see a fighter who truly loves to compete. I want to keep him busy because it's what he wants, but I must admit that as a fan I want to see him in the ring as much as possible. It's astonishing how quickly this kid is picking things up and it's fun seeing him grow in the ring," Yagobi said.

ALANTEZ FOX TO FIGHT IN OKLAHOMA APRIL 25TH

April 20, 2013 -- Alantez Fox (10-0-1, 4 KOs) will not be competing on April 20th as scheduled, he was due to face Djolevi Ballogou this weekend but those plans changed after Ballogou was denied approval to compete.  Fox will not waste much time and is in fact already rescheduled to compete on April 25th against a new opponent.   Fox will now take on late replacement Keith Collins (4-22, 2 KOs) in Oklahoma in an attempt to salvage an opportunity to perform.

It's always disappointing to have a fight cancelled, especially when the responsibility falls on your opponent's shoulders, but Fox is fortunate enough to stay on course and finish what he started in camp.

"I'm just happy I didn't have to waste an entire training camp. It's frustrating because you sacrifice and kill yourself in the gym for the ultimate goal and when you can't complete that goal it can feel like a failure even if it wasn't your fault. My main goal was obtaining more experience and it feels good to not be cheated out of it, I have my team to thank for that," Fox said.

Boxing360's Mario Yagobi was able to keep his fighter active and he thinks that is the most important aspect of bringing a fighter along.

"Injuries and other circumstances will occur during a fighter's career and cancelled/postponed fights are always going to play a role in the fight game. There are few fighters as committed as Fox to doing things the right way, you have to reward guys like him and work as hard as he does at making sure no effort is made in vain," Yagobi said.

Fields: Hernandez is in Danger!

Ardmore, Oklahoma, power puncher Eric "Danger" Fields (21-1, 15 KOs) is hoping he'll be underestimated when he brings his heavy fists to Germany on February 2, 2013, to face IBF Cruiserweight Champion Yoan Pablo Hernandez (27-1, 13 KOs) at Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin. Fields and Hernandez will meet in the main supporting bout of the European Light Heavyweight Championship main event between Eduard Gutknecht and Juergen Braehmer. "This is his third defense and he's had some big wins and he's a southpaw, so I bet he's feeling real confident fighting a guy in the top 15. Well, guess what? Molina to Trout: Here I Am!

Top contender Carlos Molina is more than happy to answer WBA Super Welterweight Champ Austin Trout's calls for a quality opponent to face. "He says he only wants to fight the best and then he calls out Erislandy Lara! Everybody knows I beat Erislandy Lara!" says Molina, fresh from his shutout victory over capable veteran Damian Frias last Friday in Miami, Oklahoma. Molina and Lara fought to a very controversial draw last year. Molina (20-5-2, 6 KOs) says if Trout claims to be having a hard time finding a fight against a top guy, he must have forgotten someone: "Me. I'll fight him any time. Set it up. I'm always ready, just pick up the phone and say you'll get in the ring and we'll fight." While he empathizes with Trout's claims of not being able to land an opponent, Molina feels the claim is less than genuine from Trout and any other 154-lb top contender looking for a fight. "They all know I'll fight them any time. Not just Trout. All the top guys. But they're all scared. They claim they'll fight anybody any time but when I say ok, let's go, suddenly they want more money. Suddenly it's not good for their career. And they're right because I'll beat every last one of them. And if Austin Trout has 'No Doubt' he can beat me, then step up. My phone is fully charged, waiting for a call."

GCP Signs Eric Fields to Promotional Agreement

Greg Cohen of Greg Cohen Promotions is proud to announce the signing of cruiserweight prospect Eric "Danger" Fields (20-1, 15 KOs) to a promotional agreement. 29-year-old Fields is a native of Ardmore, Oklahoma, rated #15 by the World Boxing Association. Fields was the 2005 and 2006 National Golden Gloves Heavyweight champion and holds a victory in the amateurs over Tony Grano, the U.S. Amateur Heavyweight Champion. As a pro, Fields already holds victories over former world champion Kelvin Davis (KO 1), former world title challenger Rubin Williams (TKO 2) and 2004 Mexican Olympian Ramiro Reducindo (KO 1). His only loss came against former world champion Ola Afolabi in 2008. Tall, with fast, powerful hands, Fields is a natural athlete who is able to finish a fight with any of the punches in his powerful two-fisted combinations. He decided to start boxing after an episode of Friday Night Fights in which he felt he could easily beat a fighter who was 22-0 at the time. "Eric has all the potential in the world and we're going to t help him reach it," said Greg Cohen. "Because of his power, he may have had stamina issues earlier in his career, but they're all ironed out now through experience and dedication. Eric Fields is on his way up the cruiserweight division. Tahdooahnippah to Taylor: “I’m coming for you!”

 

Lawton, OK (May 17, 2012) – WBC Continental Americas Middleweight champion George “Comanche Boy” Tahdooahnippah is becoming increasingly impatient for a date with one of the world’s top 160 pound fighters.

 

The hard-hitting Tahdooahnippah, a huge draw in his native Oklahoma, has an outstanding professional record of 30-0-1 with 22 wins by knockout. All but two of his fights took place in the Sooner State, which kept him under the radar. Even though he’s yet to taste defeat and owns impressive knockouts against seasoned pros such as world title challenger Jonathan Corn, Jimmy Holmes and Tyrel Brown, the Lawton resident is yet to receive a career-defining opportunity.

 

“It’s time for me to face some big name fighters and show the world who I am,” said Tahdooahnippah, a member of the Comanche Nation. “When I fought Jimmy Holmes for the WBC belt, I had a torn bicep and still stopped him in the opening round. Whoever has been in my way thus far, I’ve got them out of there and I don’t plan on changing that, regardless of who is standing across the ring!”

 

Atop his wish list is former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain “Bad Intentions” Taylor. Once a fixture on the pound-for-pound list, Taylor, 30-4-1 (18 KO’s), is 2-0 since returning from a two-year layoff. In his most recent bout, the Little Rock, AR native survived a scary ninth round knockdown against Caleb Truax en-route to claiming a unanimous decision victory.

 

Tahdooahnippah, whose opposition is comparable to Truax’, called his fight with Taylora major eye-opener.

 

“I’ve been watching Caleb Truax his whole career and we were promoted similarly. The only difference is he got the opportunity that I’ve been looking for. Jermain Taylor also isn’t the same fighter he once was and recent upset wins by fellow Oklahomans Carson Jones and Grady Brewer truly inspired me.”

 

“Caleb wasn’t able to close the show and I know that I have more power than him. I’m a different fighter than Caleb. I’m hungrier and have a more fan-friendly style. If he can go ten rounds with Jermain and put him on his back and I know that I can get Jermain out of there!”

 

Tahdooahnippah’s manager Bobby Dobbs also feels the fighter he helped build from the ground up is ready to face a top-notch foe.

 

“George is 30-0 and had a few big fights fall through,” said Dobbs. Fernando Guerrero backed out on us a few years ago and it’s been frustrating to get him a fight. We’ve been ready to take the next step and Jermain Taylor is the guy we want. He’s on the comeback trail and is looking for another opportunity. Thomas Oosthuizen Shines in U.S. Television Debut With Unanimous Decision Victory over Marcus “Too Much” Johnson

MIAMI, Okla. (April 28, 2012) –- Thomas Oosthuizen made the most of his United States television debut on ShoBox: The New Generation by producing a crowd-pleasing unanimous decision victory over Marcus “Too Much” Johnson. The 10-round super middleweight bout was scored 98-91 on all three scorecards. In the SHOWTIME^® co-feature, unbeaten super bantamweight prospect  Luis Orlando Del Valle  scored a hard-fought, 10-round unanimous decision over Christopher Martin by the tallies of 100-89, 98-91 and 97-92. In the evening’s opening bout, Jose “The Sniper” Pedraza won a unanimous decision over the relentless Gil Garcia by the scores of 79-72 and 80-71 two times in an eight-round super featherweight bout from Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Okla.

After losing the first fight of his career in his last ShoBox appearance, Johnson (21-2, 15 KOs), of Houston, came out bullish and determined to outperform the IBO super middleweight titlist Oosthuizen. Jumping out from his corner at the opening bell, Johnson bolted directly at his six-foot-four opponent and attacked him with a barrage of head and body blows. Oosthuizen (19-0-1, 13 KOs) of Gauteng, South Africa, absorbed some early punishment but maintained his composure.

Despite his height advantage of more than five inches, the tall South African did not always keep his distance, choosing to fight off the ropes during many portions of the contest. As the bout entered the fourth and fifth rounds, the 26-year-old Johnson slowed and Oosthuizen upped his work rate. A busy southpaw, Oosthuizen threw most of his punches in bunches including repeated left-right, left-right combos to the ribs.

In the eighth, Oosthuizen pressured Johnson into the blue corner and forced the Texan to take a knee after landing a right hook to the body. Johnson beat the count and the two battled it out for the final rounds before the scores revealed that Oosthuizen claimed the latest victory in his budding career.

“I never underestimated Johnson,” said the 24-year-old Oosthuizen. “I expected him to come out fast but I knew it would be sink or swim. I think he was surprised when I surpassed his big punches at the beginning. I could tell he was beginning to tire by the third or fourth round because I could hear how heavily he was breathing.”

In the co-feature, Del Valle (16-0, 11 KOs), of Bayamon, P.R., continued his pursuit of contender status with a win over his toughest opponent to date. The Puerto Rico native won the early rounds before Martin began to work his strong jab in the fourth to make it a closer fight. Both natural counter punchers, the boxers got busier as the fight advanced.

In the seventh, Martin (23-2-3, 6 KOs), of Chula Vista, Calif., was having a strong round and switched to southpaw stance only to get caught by a left hook that dropped him to the floor. When he rose to his feet, Dell Valle pressed forward but Martin regained his composure and survived the round.

Del Valle and Martin engaged in many rousing exchanges over the last three rounds that created swelling above the right eye of both 25-year-old fighters – as well as excitement in the venue through the final bell.

To open the evening, Pedraza (8-0, 6 KOs) and Garcia (5-3-1, 1 KO) put on an entertaining display of boxing. The highly touted prospect out of Caguas, Puerto Rico, Pedraza amassed “a frightening connect percentage,” said SHOWTIME expert analyst Steve Farhood, landing 60 percent (281 of 471) of his shots. In the fifth round, Pedraza badly staggered Houston’s Garcia with several shots to the head. Referee Vic Drakulich ruled it a knockdown but video replay revealed that Garcia did not touch the canvas and was not held up by the ropes. By late in the sixth round, Pedraza had opened a cut over Garcia’s left eye.

Unfazed by the near knockdown or cut, Garcia pushed forward. Though Pedraza proved to be the quicker and more polished boxer, Garcia won the crowd with his no-quit, unyielding fight style. Garcia gave Pedraza a tough test through his resilience and body attack but it was not enough to win the fight.
