Club 1957 Management signs Jr. Lightweight Jason Sosa

Philadelphia (September 18, 2014) - Mark Cipparone's Club 1957 Management is proud to announce the signing of Jr. Lightweight contender Jason Sosa to an exclusive Managerial contract.

Sosa of Camden, New Jersey has a record of 12-1-3 with 8 knockouts and has won his last 8 fights with seven of them coming by way of knockout.

Sosa is also undefeated in his last 11 bouts bouts going 9-0-2 with 7 knockouts. Furthermore, the 26 year-old Sosa is undefeated in the Jr. Lightweight division.

"It's a great opportunity.  I hear about the good things that Mark does for his fighters.  Boxing is a hard sport and now I can focus 100% on boxing,"said Sosa.

"I am excited.  I have a strong attitude and I am ready to be able to concentrate fully on boxing."

After a brief amateur career, Sosa has been one of the more under rated fighters in the Tr-State area but he has becoming more noticed based on the strength of wins over Isaac Suarez (7-1), Joseph Perez (10-1) and in his last bout when he scored an explosive 9th round stoppage over Michael Brooks (10-1-1) on April 12 in Atlantic City.

"Hopefully in the next 2 or 3 fights I can fight for a regional title that will get me in the world rankings and then I can fight for a world title.  I feel that I am more than ready.

"Jason is one hard worker with devastating punching power to match his ethic. I know this because I hear it almost everyday from everyone who get in that ring with him weatherit's a professional match or at the gym sparring and thats even with 16oz gloves. It is especially thrilling for me to manage Jason  because I know him personally and he knows me. Our expectations are in sync and we both believe in each other. I have watched Sosa's continuous improvement up close for some time now and I am confident that he will be at the top of the rankings in the very near future. Club 1957 Management signs Jr. Welterweight Raymond "Tito" Serrano


 


 


Philadelphia (September 16, 2014) - Mark Cipparone's Club 1957 Management is proud to announce the signing of Jr. Welterweight contender Raymond "Tito" Serrano to an exclusive managerial contract.

Serrano of Philadelphia has a record of 18-2 with 8 knockouts and will be looking to get back in the win column after a 19-month break

Serrano was a much talked about amateur who had close to 120 fights and won prestigious the Jr. Olympic title in 2005, The 2005 International Gold Medal, 2005 World championships Bronze Medal, 2006 Under-19 Silver Medal and 2006 Pennsylvania Golden Gloves champion. 

Serrano, who turned professional in 2007, won his first 15 bouts that included big wins over  Ashnantie Hendrickson (1-0), Jay Krupp (12-1), Ronnie Warrior Jr. (13-2-1) & Ayi Bruce (15-2).

"I am excited about signing with Mark.  With his help, I have what it takes to be a world champion," said Serrano.

"I am looking to get back in an 8-round fight.  I am looking to have 1 or 2 tune up fights and then looking to step back up to the level of fights where I was."

Serrano has been itching to get back in the ring and now feels rejuvenated .

"I needed the break.  I needed to think about my future in boxing.  I finally got back to a place and now I love it again.  I am looking forward to getting a couple of wins and getting a shot at a regional title and then being able to compete for a world title."

"He was a very distinguished amateur and he has a lot of talent. Ray has an extraordinary work ethic and it is clear that he is ready both physically and mentally to do whatever it takes to make his way to the top." "

Joey Dawejko scores explosive 1st round knockout in Club 1957 Management debut

Philadelphia (August 4, 2014) - This past Saturday night at the Revel Resort in Atlantic City, Heavyweight Joey Dawejko made an emphatic statement as he destroyed David Williams in just 108 seconds of the scheduled 8-round bout that was part of the Sergey Kovalev - Blake Caparello card.

Dawejko, who was making his first start under the Club 1957 Management banner scored three destructive knockdowns and looked like the fighter that many thought he would be after a decorated amateur career.

Dawejko of Philadelphia is now 11-3-2 with 4 knockouts said, "I felt great tonight, It definitely was a good performance and a great win."

Dawejko gives a lot of credit to manager Mark Cipparone and Club 1957 Management.

"Mark supports his fighters to the max and that's a big part of it.  I have so much more confidence from him and I love what he does for his fighters."

Said Mark Cipparone, "Joey was terrific on Saturday and the best is yet to come.  We have only had a him a few weeks and we know that in the next two fights, he will be in great condition and he will be on his way to do the major things that people had believed he would do coming out of the amateurs."

CLUB 1957 MANAGEMENT SIGNS HEAVYWEIGHT JOEY DAWEJKO

 


 



Philadelphia (July 23, 2014) - Mark Cipparone's Club 1957 Management is proud to announce the signing of Heavyweight contender Joey Dawejko to an exclusive managerial contract.
 
 
The 24-year old Dawejko has a record of 10-3-2 with three knockouts and is currently riding a two fight winning streak.
 
 
The native of Philadelphia won the World Jr. Amateur championships in 2008.  He had am amateur record of 56-12, and besides winning the world championships, he also captured the National under-19. He's also a 3-time national PAL champ as well as a Jr. Golden Gloves champion.
 
 
In his amateur career he had wins over Lenroy Thompson as well as current undefeated professional Heavyweights Bryant Jennings and Jordan Shimmell.  
 
 
He turned professional in 2009 with a 6-round unanimous decision over Royphy Solieau.  He won his first six bouts (and was 7-0-1 in his first eight) which included knockout wins over undefeated fighters Ricardo Johnson and John Lennox.
 

Dawejko is not afraid to take on top competition as nearly half of his fights have been against undefeated fighters.
 
 
In his last two bouts, Dawejko has been coming into his own with his two biggest wins when he scored a unanimous decision over former top-ten heavyweight contender Derric Rossy as well as his last bout when he scored an impressive unanimous decision over undefeated Philadelphian Mark Rideout on May 16.
 
 
"I think it's a great deal for both of us.  Mark is a great guy and I am looking forward to working with him.  He is behind his fighters 100% and he has surrounded himself with an excellent team and I believe with all of this in place, the sky is the limit for my potential," Said Dawejko.
 
 
"Everyone knows that Joey can Fight! My team and I are on another mission as Joey has made the ULTIMATE decision to put boxing before ALL and yes he has!  Just watch us climb to the top! Keep your eye on this guy.  He is coming," said Club 1957 Management's Mark Cipparone.


"With his With his new management team in place Joey has committed 100 percent to boxing.  A far cry away from the balancing act this tough boxer endured  for the last several years working a hard 8 to 10 hrs a day as a roofer in extreme weather conditions.  It certainly takes a toll on your body.  And to win fights too is incredible to say the least.  Now Joey is able to do 3 workouts a day and actually get in fight shape...now that is scary!!!" finished Cipparone.

Despite setback, Cartagena on road to becoming Flyweight champion

 



Philadelphia (June 18) - Down but far from out.  A term that has been used many times in many aspects of life but for 21 year-old Flyweight contender Miguel Cartagena of Philadelphia, it couldn't be more true.
 
Back on April 24, Cartagena entered the ring for his bout with Timur Shailezov with a perfect record of 12-0.  Cartagena had been improving with each performance and it was thought his bout with Shailezov would have been another solid victory.
 
Unfortunately Cartagena was hurt and dropped in the 1st round.  He was never able to recover and was stopped in round three.
 
For many young fighters, that loss could have been a confidence and career killer.  But Cartagena went back to the drawing board and is looking to resume what many have predicted for him and that is a path to the world championship.
 
Young Miguel will be back in action in July when he looks to get back on the pursuit of a world title.
 
"It's a part of boxing, no excuses he was the better man tonight. I'll be back stronger than ever. This is just a minor set back for a major comeback," were Cartagena's words after the TKO defeat.

Cartagena is set to make is return to the ring within 6 weeks. "I've had plenty of time to rest, recover and spend time with my family and friends, but I was back in the gym a week after my last fight," Continued Cartagena. 
 
His manager Mark Cipparone of Club 1957 Management see's big things for Miguel's future despite having a loss on his record, "We will take one fight at a time and build Miguel back up mentally to where he was before his last fight. When I see Miguel Cartagena, I see a future world champion. We have a great team, great trainers and a great support group for Miguel and all of my other boxers".

CLUB 1957 MANAGEMENT SIGNS FORMER WORLD TITLE CHALLENGER TEON "THE TECHNICIAN" KENNEDY



 
PHILADELPHIA (JANUARY 7, 2014)--Mark Cipparone's Club 1957 Management is proud to announce the signing of former world title challenger Teon "The Technician" Kennedy to a management contract.

Kennedy of Philadelphia has a record of 19-2-2 with 7 knockouts.

The 27 year old won his first 13 bouts which included an explosive 2nd round stoppage over the undefeated Thomas Snow.

Kennedy went on to win the USBA Super Bantamweight title with a 10th round stoppage over Francisco Rodriguez.  He defended the the title with a 12 round unanimous decision over Jose Angel Beranza. Kennedy added the NABA title with a 10th round stoppage over Alex Beccera.

Kennedy scored his best win when he dropped previously undefeated Jorge Diaz (15-0) two times and won a thrilling 12 round unanimous decision on March 26, 2011 as part of the Yuriorkis Gamboa - Jorge Solis undercard in Atlantic City.

After suffering his 1st pro defeat to Alejandro Lopez (21-2), Kennedy had a draw with Christopher Martin (23-1-2) that headlined an ESPNFriday Night Fights card.

Kennedy then challenged the highly respected Guillermo Rigondeaux for the WBA Super Bantamweight crown on June 9, 2012 as part of the Manny Pacquiao - Timothy Bradley Pay Per View undercard.

Although Kennedy came up short, he showed heart by continuing to get off the canvas until the bout was stopped in 5th round.

Since that defeat, Kennedy has fought very well as he moved up to Jr. Lightweight and has scored wins over Carlos Vinan and in his last bout when he fought through a broken jaw but still was able to win a 10 round unanimous decision over Joselito Collado (13-2) on August 24, 2013 in Atlantic City.


"I decided to sign with Mark after what I have seen what he has done with his other fighters", said Kennedy.

"He takes good care of his fighters and I don't mean with money.  He gives great advice about life and he has already provided me with a good strength and conditioning program."

"I feel I need two more fights and I will be in a good spot.  I know that Mark and my promoter Russell Peltz are on the same page and have a good plan going forward.", finished Kennedy.

"We are very happy to have Teon in the fold and part of our team", said Cipparone.

"He is a proven fighter who is just a couple fights removed from fighting for a world championship.  He is a great talent and we look forward to getting him back to that title fight and we have the confidence that he will be a world champion."
