RESULTS FROM LOWELL, MA: McCreedy defeats Walchuk Adama decisions Brewer

CFC FIGHT NIGHT
Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell ● Lowell, MA ● March 16, 2013

LOWELL, Mass. (March 16, 2013) - Hometown favorite "Irish" Joey McCreedy   celebrated St. Patrick's Day in style, winning an eight-round majority decision over Canadian-invader Michael "Flash" Walchuk in tonight's "CFC Fight Night" main event, presented by Chicago Fight Clubs Promotions, at Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell.

McCreedy (14-6-2, 6 KOs), who picked-up the vacant UBF US-Northeast light heavyweight title, hurt Walchuk (9-9, 2 KOs) in the opening round with a powerful overhand right, but McCreedy suffered a cut over his right eye in the second, and worked his way through the remainder of the fight for a hard-earned victory.

McCreedy captured the vacant UBF US-Northeast light heavyweight title.

"This was a 360-degree turn from my last fight in Lowell," McCreedy said after the fight. "I credit my training camp, my head trainer Dicky Eklund, strength coach...my whole team, including my promoter, manager, dad, mom and girlfriend.

"I thought I had him out in the first round. I hurt him but loaded up with right hands after that for a few rounds. Dicky settled me down, though, and I started throwing combinations."

World title challenger Osumanu Adama (21-3, 15 KOs) won a 10-round split decision (97-93, 96-94, 94-96) over veteran Grady "Bad Boy" Brewer (30-15, 16 KOs). Because Adama weighed in one-half pound over the limit, he was ineligible to win the WBC Continental Americas, IBO Intercontinental and UBF Inter-Continental middleweight championships. Adama is rated No. 11 by the International Boxing Federation (IBF).

Former world champion "Vicious" Vivian Harris (30-9-2, 19 KOs) snapped an eight-fight unbeaten streak (0-6-1, 1 NC), dating back to 2008, with an eight-round decision over Shakha Moore (11-19-3, 2 KOs).

A knockdown in the final round was the difference as Maine middleweight Russell Lamour (3-0, 1 KO), who overcame a trip to the canvas in the fourth round, kept his undefeated record intact with a close but unanimous six-round decision over Eddie "Thunder" Caminero (7-8, 7 KOs).

Iraq War veteran, cruiserweight Chris Traietti (11-3, 7 KOs), floored Tyler Seever (13-13-1, 11 KOs) twice in the fifth round, finishing him off in the sixth with two more knockdowns, before the fight was stopped by referee Paul Casey.

Chicago heavyweight Boban Simic (2-0, 2 KOs) dropped Boston's pro-debuting Tyler King twice with powerful left hooks prior to referee Eddie Claudio halting the action with nine-seconds remaining in the second round.

New Haven bantamweight Josh Crespo (1-1-1, 1 KO) won his first professional fight when Lowell's pro-debuting Mike Martin failed to answer the bell for the third round.

Crossroads fight for Lowell favorite 'Irish' Joey McCreedy Adama vs. Brewer in co-feature

CFC FIGHT NIGHT
"Irish" Joey McCreedy
Osumanu Adama vs. Grady Brewer
Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell ● Lowell, MA ● March 16, 2013

March 16 at Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell
LOWELL, Mass. (March 7, 2013) - Local favorite "Irish" Joey McCreedy has overcome a double fracture of his jaw. For years, he's fought in the boxing shadows of Lowell fighting icons, "Irish" Micky Ward and Dicky Eklund, but now, perhaps, he faces his toughest challenge in a crossroads fight March 16 at Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell.

"CFC Fight Night" is presented by Chicago Fight Clubs Promotion. Doors open at 7 p.m. ET, first bout scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET.

McCreedy (13-6-2, 6 KOs), who is trained by Eklund, takes on Canadian-invader Michael "Flash" Walchuk (9-8, 2 KOs) in the eight-round main event for the vacant Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) US-Northeast light heavyweight title.

Amin for the vacant United States Boxing Organization super middleweight crown. The pressure is on McCreedy because he lost his last fight, also in Lowell, this past May to Shujaa El

"This fight is so important to me because, after my last fight, if I lose my career is done," McCreedy explained. "I want it bad and everything's on the line for me. I've been working hard, practically killing myself, for the past 10 weeks in camp. I don't want to look back and wonder what if, or what could have been. I've never wanted anything as bad as this fight. Weight has been a problem for me but this fight is at 175 pounds and I didn't balloon in weight after my last fight. I'm on weight now and in great shape. I'm really focused on this fight.

"Nothing could have gone worse in my last fight. We had a bad training camp without sparring and I had to lose too much weight. Anything that could go bad did go bad. I was disappointed but can't go back and change it. There's nothing worse than losing your hometown. I really wanted to win that fight but everything happens for a reason. That's why I've worked so hard for this fight; I'm ready to rock and roll. I'm going to show everybody that I still have it. Some people look at me as a loser, that I'm washed up, all done. I'm going to show them all that they're wrong. I've been working with Dicky and sparred four weeks, eight to 10 rounds every other day with Peter Manfredo, Jr., who was working for a fight coming up. Peter taught me a lot and I'm not fighting anybody as tough as Manfredo"

Walchuk is a past Canadian middleweight title challenger who has been in against Eleider Alvarez, Nick Brinson and Vladine Biosse. "I saw him (Walchuk) fight Biosse and (Thomas) Falowo," McCreedy added. "He's a tough kid who comes forward and fights. I'm not judging anybody, I learned that lesson the hard way. I'll be ready. I know that I can't lose this fight."

The 10-round co-feature matches recent world title challenger Osumanu Adama (20-3, 15 KOs), rated No. 12 in the world by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and No. 5 by the IBO, and Grady "Bad Boy" Brewer (30-14, 16 KOs), winner of The Contender II television reality series, for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Continental Americas, IBO Intercontinental and UBF Inter-Continental middleweight titles.

Last year in his last fight, Ghana-native Adama unsuccessfully challenged IBF middleweight champion Daniel Geale (26-1) in Australia, dropping a 12-round decision in Geale's country. Adama's most notable victories have been over former world champion Roman Karmazin (TKO9), Marcus Upshaw (TKO4), and Angel Hernandez (DEC12). Adama is a former United States Boxing Association (USBA), USBO, and IBO International middleweight title holder.

Former World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion "Vicious" Vivian Harris (29-9-2, 19 KOs) faces battle-tested veteran Shakha Moore (11-18-3, 2 KOs), fighting out of Norwalk (CT), in an eight round bout.

Slated to fight in six-round fights are Quincy (MA) light heavyweight Chris Traietti (10-3, 6 KOs), an Iraq War veteran, against Tyler Seever (13-12-1, 11 KOs), of Saint Louis (MO); exciting Lawrence (MA) junior middleweight Eddie "Thunder" Caminero (7-7, 7 KOs and undefeated welterweight Georgia native Levan "The Wolf" Ghvamichva (8-0, 6 KOs) face opponents to be determined.

Also scheduled to fight on the undercard in four-round bouts are Chicago heavyweight Boban Simic (1-0, 1 KO) versus Boston-s pro-debuting Tyler King, U.S. Marine Jimmy Smith (0-0, 1 NC) meets Joshua "El Guerrero" Rivera (0-2), and Lowell bantamweight Mike Martin makes his professional debut in a fight with. Josh Crespo (0-2), of New Haven (CT).

All fights and fighters are subject to change.

McCreedy, Adama, Harris and Simic are promoted by Chicago Fight Clubs Promotion.

Tickets (all reserved), reasonably priced at $42.00, $77.00 (floor) and $102.00 (ringside), are on sale and may be purchased online at thewww.TsongasCenter.com; by phone at 866.722.8780; or at the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell Box Office. DANIEL GEALE & FELIX STURM IN UNIFICATION WORLD TITLE BOUT

IBF & WBA MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIPS ON THE LINE

May 31, 2012 - Gary Shaw Productions, Sturm Box Promotion, Grange Old School Boxingand UFA Sports are happy to announce a world title unification bout featuring IBF middleweight champion Daniel "The Real Deal" Geale (27-1, 15 KOs) and WBA Super World champ, Felix Sturm (37-2-2, 16 KOs).  The 12-round 160-pound main event will take place in Germany on Sept. 1, 2012, at a location to be announced, with television network SAT1 broadcasting the event to millions around the world.

Said Promoter Gary Shaw, "This event is what boxing is all about. When you get two world champions agreeing to fight each other with no hesitation, you know the fans are going to be witnessing an unbelievable bout.  Both guys are hungry to keep their titles and they're going to leave everything in the ring.  Words can't describe how excited I am about this event. Geale and Sturm are true warriors who are going to "Bring It" come fight night.  It's going to be an incredible night of boxing.  The true winners will be the fans.

"In Daniel's last fight a new Australian superstar emerged," Shaw continued. "Daniel's superiority is confirmation that he is on the verge of pound-for-pound status. With the expert guidance of Garrie Fransisco and Bill Treacy managing Daniel's career, along with Graham Shaw steering his corner, Geale has the right team to take him to middleweight supremacy.  It's an honor to be promoting such a great fighter with a great team."

After a dominating performance against mandatory challenger, Osumanu Adama (20-3, 15 KOs), Geale will look to extend on a six-fight winning streak.  He has fought all but one of his bouts in his native Australia.  In his lone start outside his homeland, Geale traveled to Germany and captured the IBF middleweight title against Sebastian Sylvester (34-5-1, 16 KOs).  Geale wants to make a statement in this bout as he fights in Germany for a second time.

"I'm truly thankful to be fighting in this unification bout with Felix Sturm," Geale said. "My promoter Gary Shaw has promised me the biggest fights and he's kept his word.  Fighting in Germany is a very difficult task, but I was successful there once before when I captured my first world title against Sebastian Sylvester.  My goal will be to beat Sturm in his homeland, and bring his title back to Australia once again.  I'm fighting for my country and all the kids I train at the Grange Old School Boxing gym.

"I also want to thank my managers Garrie Fransisco and Billy Treacy who, in conjunction with my trainer Graham Shaw, have all worked hard to get me to the top.  Right now I'm in the best shape of my life and Graham has seen the improvements in my ability to make adjustments in the ring.  I'm fully prepared to give the fans an exciting fight when I step in the ring with Sturm."

Sturm, who is coming off an impressive ninth-round knockout victory against then-once- beaten challenger Sebastian Zbik (30-2, 10 KOs), is undefeated in his last 14 bouts. He's best known in America for his fight with Oscar De La Hoya, in which many fans believe he won clearly, but instead lost on a close unanimous decision.  With 14 title defenses, Sturm is considered one of the best pure boxers in the sport, and will seek to add another world title belt to his collection.

"Fighting in my native land of Germany is incredible and I can't wait to show the German fans, once again, what I'm made of," stated Sturm. "Daniel Geale is a worthy opponent, but he's never been in the ring with a fighter like me.  I fight for the people of Germany and I'm not going to let them down! I will be victorious on Sept. 1."

My career is headed in the right direction and I'm looking forward to my next fight, whoever it may be. A fight with Jermain Taylor is also intriguing being that we were both Olympians in the 2000 Sydney Games. I'm ready to fight the best out there, including Sergio Martinez."

"Sky is the limit for Daniel," said an elated Gary Shaw. "Right now the goal is to bring Geale to the U.S. for a big fight on network television. He's earned the right to fight any of the current champions at middleweight. Daniel is a fantastic fighter and I see him becoming the undisputed champion at 160. When I get back to the states, I will put everything in motion."

Big Opportunities lie ahead for Daniel Geale

Feb. 23, 2012 - As IBF middleweight champion, Daniel "The Real Deal" Geale (26-1, 15 KOs), prepares for his highly anticipated title defense against mandatory challenger, Osumanu Adama (20-2, 15 KOs), on March 7, 2012, big opportunities lie ahead if he is to be victorious.

On the horizon are potential unification bouts with Dmitry Pirog (19-0, 15 KOs), Felix Strum (36-2-2, 15 KOs) and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (45-1-1, 31 KOs), as well as Ring Magazine champion Sergio Martinez (48-2-2, 27 KOs), all of which could be televised on HBO or SHOWTIME.

"The future is very bright for Daniel Geale," said Promoter Gary Shaw. "There is interest among the major networks for his next fight if he can get passed Adama.  Sergio Martinez is considered a pound for pound champion, and we would love to take that fight.  First things first though and Geale must be victorious against a very game challenger in Adama and that's where the focus is right now.  Daniel wants to show the world why he should be considered the best middleweight in the division."

Said Geale, "I know if I defeat Adama on March 7, a floodgate of opportunities will open up for me.  Sergio Martinez is the person everyone in the middleweight division is seeking so I'll entertain that fight when it presents itself.  I'll be willing to unify the titles with all the champions but, right now my concentration is solely on Adama.  My team and I have a great game plan and I'll be ready to execute it on fight night.  Training camp has been going great."
