WILCOCK TO ASSUME ROLE OF
VICE PRESIDENT OF GLOBAL OPERATIONS

Greg Cohen Promotions is proud to announce the appointment of Australian promoter Adam Wilcock of FightCard Promotions to the role of Vice President of Global Operations.

In a move to further cement its growing role as a global promotional force, the official addition of Wilcock to the GCP team formalizes their now long-standing partnership.

As a leading promoter and manager within the Australian market, the addition of Wilcock into the executive team gives GCP a solid foundation and base in both the Australian and ever growing Pacific/Asian regions.

Making the announcement CEO Greg Cohen was typically upbeat, "Adam and I have been working together for over four years now on a number of different projects. There are some big things ahead in the immediate future of GCP and its role within the boxing landscape, adding Adam into our executive team gives GCP further solidity and ability to grow. From both a strategic and operational level I couldn't be happier with the advancement that we have made as a company with this announcement. This appointment further allows GCP to work within the Australian market, the boxing-strong region of Southeast Asia and also expand its reach into the UK. Adam is a tireless worker and servant to boxing, over the past four years he's helped re-establish Australian boxing on the world scene and I'm excited to have him add to the already great team at GCP."

Wilcock will split his time between the USA and Australia, as GCP continues to mine the talent-rich Australian boxing scene for future champions. According to the 39-year-old English-born Wilcock, this new role is a dream come true.

"Greg is the consummate professional in this industry and we've been working on a number of different things over the past few years. I'm looking forward to helping shape and guide a positive future for GCP. There are some great things on the horizon and I'm looking forward to the challenges ahead."

"The Aussie boxers that we have on the GCP roster at the moment are all not only great talents, but also wonderful people. There's a hotbed of talent in Australia and GCP plans to find and help crown the next Aussie world champ," continued Cohen.

Having worked together to bring the strongest Australian talent onto the world stage, GCP will showcase its commitment to expanding markets with the upcoming US debut of undefeated Australian-based Irishman "Hurricane" Dennis Hogan (19-0, 7 KOs), on its upcoming Thursday, November 13, show at The Space at Westbury in Westbury, New York. Hogan, who resides in Brisbane, Australia, is ranked top 15 by both WBA and IBF.

Cohen Congratulates Light Middleweight 'Hurricane' Hogan for Winning Regional WBA Belt

Promises to Bring Exciting Irish/Australian Slugger to USA Soon

Greg Cohen of Greg Cohen Promotions wishes to congratulate the fighter he co-promotes (along with Adam Wilcock for FightCard Promotions), Dennis "Hurricane" Hogan for winning the WBA Oceania Light Middleweight Championship on Sunday night.

The popular Hogan (19-0-1, 7 KOs) scored a clear split decision over Australia's Steve Moxon at the Grand Star Receptions in Altona North, Victoria, Australia.

A four-time national amateur champion with over 150 fights in his native Ireland, 29-year-old Hogan now lives and trains in Queensland, Australia. In addition to the WBA belt, in his three-year pro career, Hogan has already won the Queensland State Super Middleweight, Queensland State Middleweight and Australian Middleweight Championships.

He is currently rated #14 by the IBF and with the victory over Moxon, will almost surely crack the WBA's rankings as well.

"Dennis showed his world-class skills while winning a regional title that will lead to bigger and better things," said Greg Cohen. "Most ringside observers had him winning 10 out of 12 rounds, but one of the judges inexplicably had it a split decision. Regardless, he won and Adam and I are now planning to have him make his USA debut later this summer."

Cohen says that because of his personality and exciting style, Hogan is one of those rare fighters that fans adore.

"Dennis is the type of Irish fighter that has that special connection with his fans, like a John Duddy," continued Cohen. "He is a special kid and we are excited to bring him to the world stage. I send my sincere congratulations to Dennis and to the boxing world: get ready for a new star middleweight from Ireland/Australia. We will have an announcement about his arrival in the US very soon."

Daniel Geale Eyeing Triple GGG Showdown

DANIEL GEALE
EYES GENNADY 'GGG' GOLOVKIN SHOWDOWN

AUSTRALIA (February 19, 2014) - Last night at the Horden Pavilion, in Moore Park, New South Wales, Australia, former two-time middleweight world champion, Daniel "Real Deal" Geale (30-2, 15 KOs) dominated WBA #12 Garth Wood (12-3-2, 8 KOs), stopping his fellow countryman as his corner halted the bout after the sixth round.  He is now eyeing a bout with Gennandy "GGG" Golovkin.

"My ambition is to recapture a world title and bring it back to Australia," said Geale.  "I will do whatever it takes to regain my status as the middleweight champion of the world.  With Wood out of the way, the doors have opened for other big fights.  I believe Gennady Golovkin and I would make for a great fight.  If HBO can bring that fight to fruition then I'm all for it. Golovkin needs to fight someone of my caliber to be considered elite.  The fans deserve a great competitive fight and that's what Golovkin and I bring to the table."

"I would have fought Golovkin already had there been a PPV date, but there was none available.  My promoters Gary Shaw and Garrie Francisco believe this fight can happen and that's the direction I want to go. The same style I fought against Wood is what I anticipate would be successful against Golovkin.  It would be a great fight for the fans."

Waiting patiently for his big opportunity, Fletcher controlled the action in a stay-busy matchup.

Cohen says his man is being talked about for a shot at the winner of the upcoming WBA championship fight between champion Gennady Golovkin and Curtis Stevens, scheduled for November 2 at Madison Square Garden.

"Jarrod Fletcher is in a position for several big fights right now and we'll be looking to get him into them as soon as possible," said Cohen. "Not only is he a strong possibility for the winner of Golovkin/Stevens, he's also got former champs Daniel Geale and Anthony Mundine for huge All-Australia showdowns. It's a good time to be Jarrod Fletcher right now."

PROMOTER VLAD WARTON BELIEVES EXPECTS MUNDINE – MOSLEY TO BE A RECORD SHATTERING EVENT IN AUSTRALIA

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA (September 18, 2013)—On Wednesday night October 23rd, It will be an historic night of boxing at the Sydney Entertainment Center in Sydney, Australia when former three world champion Anthony Mundine (44-5, 26 KO’s) battles six-time world champion and future Hall of Famer “Sugar” Shane Mosley in a twelve round Jr. Middleweight bout for the WBA International championship.
The fight is promoted by Vlad Warton’s Millennium Events and Golden Boy Promotions.
Warton, who has promoted big fights all over the world, believes that this fight will be undoubtedly one of the biggest fights in the history of Australia.
That’s a big statement considering fights that fights such as the 1992 rematch between Jeff Fenech and Azumah Nelson as well as a fight that Warton promoted in 2003 between the great Kostya Tszyu and Jesse James Leija drew 40,000 spectators to the Telstra Dome in Melbourne
“This is a fight fan’s dream fight for Australia”, said Warton.
“Because of a legend like Shane Mosley, it will excite the fans of Australia.  Because of what he has done in his career, Mosley will have as much support as Mundine on October 23rd.  He has fought no one but the best and has beaten a lot of great fighters so to say Anthony has his work cut out for him is an understatement”
“Given the styles and Mosley’s championship experience, I would say he has an edge.”
The promoter points out there are similarities and the differences that will make this an interesting fight.
“While Mundine is slightly younger and taller, Mosley is stronger.  You have Mundine coming down from Middleweight and Mosley is coming up from Welterweight.  This fight considering the styles will provide huge excitement”
Not since Roy Jones Jr. fought Danny Green in 2009, has a fighter with the superstar pedigree of a Shane Mosley traveled to Australia for a big fight.
“This is a great opportunity to see someone as great as Shane Mosley on these shores.  He maybe 42 years old, but he is coming off a great win over a future world champion in Pablo Cesar Cano so we know he still has a ton of gas left in his tank”
Neither fighter can afford a loss at this stage in their career as it will be an extremely tough road back for the loser, yet the winner will get the opportunity for one more high profile fight.
“The winner will get a high profile fight back in the United States while the loser will go back to zero.  Anthony knows that this could be his last great opportunity. He is more mature and even though he is a three-time world champion, this could be a career defining fight.”
The fight will be televised via Pay Per View in Australia on Main Event and New Zealand on SKY Channel and tickets to the live event are $1000; $500; $200; $100 and $50
An American Television partner will be announced shortly.

DANIEL "REAL DEAL" GEALE REFLECTS ON WBA SITUATION

November 1, 2012 - After being stripped by the WBA for taking the Anthony Mundine fight, Australian middleweight champion, Daniel "Real Deal" Geale (28-1, 25 KOs) reflects on the decision made by the sanctioning organization.

"Whilst I enjoyed unifying titles and being crowned the WBA super champion it has become ultimately clear to me that it is impossible to keep all the belts," said Daniel Geale. "I am aware of my mandatory obligations, however I felt that the challenge from Anthony Mundine was an opportunity to settle the score once and for all, and I want to thank the IBF for granting me the exception that creates a fight which will please all Australian boxing fans.

Judo Player Ivo Dos Santos Headed to Olympic Games in London

http://www.ivojudo.com/2012/05/09/london-or-bust/

Hi, Ivo Dos Santos, Judo athlete here.

Just thought I'd give you all an update on my Olympic Qualifying campaign.

I AM GOING TO LONDON!!!

I've linked a blog I wrote about the final selection competition at the top of this email for you guys to check out if you are curious.

But to summarize I was able to win the OJU Continental Championships for the fourth straight time and qualify in 14th place in the 66kg category.

My points total of 434 was the highest by an Australian in any of the weight divisions.

In total Australia has qualified six athletes with five of them coming from my training group in Melbourne.

I also just competed in the 2012 Australian National Championships in Wollongong where I rounded out my domestic preparation by winning gold in the 66kg category one more time.

From here I will head out to Europe for 5 weeks of Competition and Training Camps in different countries and we will end up in the Olympic Village around July 23. This intense preparation will see me primed for an assault on the 66 kg category on July 29.

I'm aiming for a medal so it is going to be a hard slog.

Thanks to all of my sponsors and supporters who've helped me along the way and for any who are still curious it is not too late to get involved.

I've already done a fair bit of media and there is a lot more coming up between now and the games.

It's a perfect time for some sponsors to get on board and get their products out there through me.

Cheers

Ivo Dos Santos
