RESULTS FROM CANTON, MASS. CANTON, Mass. (October 26, 2013) -- Irish southpaw Michael "Donegal Dynamite" McLaughlin (6-1-1, 3 KO) and middleweight  Sergio Cabrera engaged in a wild, back-and-forth main event on today's "Boxing Event Under The Tent" card, at the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton, Massachusetts. "Boxing Event Under The Tent" was presented by Big Six Entertainment, in association with Danny Kelly Promotions.   Ireland-native McLaughlin, who lives and fights out of Dorchester (MA), won his fourth straight fight bit it was farm from easy.  McLaughlin decked the Cabrera in the third, but McLaughlin was dropped twice in the fourth, barely avoiding the referee's stoppage.  McLaughlin finished strong to win, however, to win on all three judges' scorecards by identical scores of 57-54.   Irish junior middleweight John "Buncrana Banger" Hutchinson remained unbeaten (5-0-2, 1 KO), winning a unanimous four-round decision over Robert "Flying Hawk" Brando-Hunt in rematch from this past July that ended in a 'no contest' when Brando-Hunt was cut over the eye from an unintentional head-butt. Local favorite Gerald "The Artist" Schifone (2-0, 1 KOs), fighting out of nearby Stoughton, stole the show, unleashing a barrage of unanswered bombs on pro-debuting Wayne Harnoise,  until referee Paul Casey halted the bout late in the opening round. Harnoise, who had been dropped but beat the count, was in no condition to resume fighting. Heavyweight Donnie "The Big Nasty" Palmer (2-0-1, 2 KOs) remained undefeated, winning the battle of Dorchester (district of Boston) when Boston police officer Tyrone "Lock 'Em Up" Smith was unable to continue fighting after two rounds. Providence super middleweight K.J. "Canine" Harrison-Lombardi (3-0-1, 1 KO) pitched a shutout, winning all four rounds against Brockton's pro-debuting Lionel "Boogz" Young. Irish imports McLaughlin & Hutchinson showcased Oct. 26 @ Irish Cultural Centre

PROVIDENCE (October 17, 2013) - Irish-born boxers who have relocated in the Boston area have included Stevie Collins and Kevin McBride.  A pair of relatively new Bostonians from Ireland, prospects Michael McLaughlin and John "Bancara Banger" Hutchinson, are following in their footsteps.

Collins, of course, became a world middleweight and super middleweight champion and McBride is best known as the Irishman who knocked out "Iron" Mike Tyson into retirement.  McLaughlin and Hutchinson may never match their fellow country-men's accomplishments, but they will be showcased October 26 on a special Saturdayafternoon (2 p.m. / ET start) "Boxing Event Under The Tent" card, presented by Big Six Entertainment in association with Danny Kelly Promotions.

The Irish Cultural Centre of New England, located just outside of Boston in Canton (MA), will be hosting its first professional boxing event, headlined by unbeaten welterweight Diego Periera (8-0-1, 6 KOs), of Providence, and Norwalk (CT) veteran Shaka Moore (11-19-3, 2 KOs) in the eight-round main event.

McLaughlin (4-0-2, 1 KO), a junior middleweight from Donegal, and middleweight Bancara's Hutchinson (4-0-2, 1 KO) will be fighting in against, respectively, Sergio Carera (0-1), of Somerville (MA), and Hyannis' (MA) Robert Hunt (0-3).

In a toe-to-toe battle between quick-handed Estrada (19-4, 5 KOs) and cagey southpaw Gonzales (20-7, 10 KOs), Providence heavyweight Estrada consistently beat Gonzales, a former world title challenger and 1992 Puerto Rican Olympian, to the punch. Estrada won all eight rounds on each of the three judges' scorecards by scores of 80-72. "I thought it was a good performance," Estrada said after the fight. "The dude can take a shot. Once I realized that he wouldn't go, I boxed his head off. I hurt my thumb a little in the second round, so I boxed and used my jab. "Next? If (Tony) Grano wants to fight, let's go. I've been trying to get him in the ring for a long time." The comeback of former USBA and NABO middleweight champion Brian "The Bull" Barbosa (31-6, 23 KOs), now fighting out of Providence, continued on a high note in the co-feature. Headlining 'Takeover' card Friday night in Providence    Jason "Big Six" Estrada    PROVIDENCE (June 26, 2012) --  Healthy for the first time in his professional career, 2004 U.S. Olympian Jason "Big Six" Estrada continues his march back to the top of the heavyweight division, headlining Friday night's Big Six Entertainment-presented "Takeover" card, at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence. The 31-year-old Estrada (18-4, 5 KOs), fighting out of Providence, faces 1992 Puerto Rican Olympian Alex Gonzales (20-6, 10 KOs) in the eight-round main event.  One of the most decorated amateur boxers in United States history, Estrada is coming off of arguably his most impressive performance last March, a stunning second-round knockout of veteran Dominque Alexander.  At the height of his career, to date, Estrada went the distance on the road in highly competitive fights with present World Boxing Association ("WBA") World Heavyweight Champion Alexander Povetkin, as well as two-time, two-division world champion  Tomasz Adamek.   Estrada's most notable victims have included Lance Whitaker, Derek Bryant, Charles Shufford and Zuri Lawrence.  Throughout his career, however, Jason was hampered by aggravating injuries to his elbow and ankle, which have been repaired through surgeries, allowing him to fight pain-free and putting him back in the heavyweight picture. "This is the first time I've been healthy since before the 2004 Olympic Games (he suffered from plantar fasciitis)," Estrada explained.  "It's made a huge difference for me, training and in fights.  I'm not worried anymore about hurting something.  Now, I'm throwing without recourse. "This is another one of our shows (Big Six Entertainment), so I don't have to worry about all of the nonsense working for other promoters.  I want to keep active.  I enjoy fighting at home in Providence.  I've never felt added pressure fighting here but, fighting in front of family and friends, I always want to look good, not just win." Gonzales is an experienced southpaw who is a past United States Boxing Association heavyweight champion.  He has been in the ring with former world champion Vassiliy Jirov and world title challenger Calvin Brock. "I don't have problems fighting southpaws," Estrada said.  "I've beaten four or five as a pro and fought so many as an amateur.  In the early nineties, southpaw was the style of many International boxers. "I'm getting back to where I was.  I'm not there, yet, but I believe a big fight is on the horizon for me.  I just want to keep fighting and beat some big names.  I'm hoping to win a few titles and make some money before it's all over for me."
