Undefeated super featherweight prospect Toka Kahn-Clary Returns on Apr. 13th Donaire-Rigondeaux card

PROVIDENCE.(April 4, 2013) - Undefeated super featherweight prospect Toka "T Nice" Kahn-Clary (4-0, 3 KOs) returns to action April 13, fighting on the Nonito Donaire-Guillermo Rigondeaux undercard, at the famed Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Liberia-native Kahn-Clary, a 20-year-old who moved to Providence 14 years ago, is coming off (Feb. 23) another impressive win by second-round technical knockout of 18-fight veteran Pablo Cupul.

Kahn-Clary faces Gadiel Andaluz (4-4-1, 2 KOs) next Saturday in what is expected to be Toka's last four-round bout before graduating to six.

"This fight is a real big opportunity for me," Kahn-Clary said, "so I need to put on my best performance to prove I'm a good prospect, and that I will be one of the best fighters in the world someday. To fight on the same card as Donaire and Rigondeaux, being involved in only the second boxing show ever at Radio City Music Hall me, is an honor got me. I have to fight to the best of my ability.

"I stay in touch with guys I know from the amateurs and one, (Philadelphia super middleweight) Jesse Hart, is fighting on the same card. I'm competitive and even though we're friends, I want to look better than him that night."

Promoted by Bob Arum's Top Rank, Kahn-Clary was a standout amateur who captured a gold medal at the 2010 U.S. National Golden Gloves Tournament. He fights out of the new Manfredo Boxing Sports Fitness gym in Narragansett, Rhode Island.

"Toka is fighting on a five-star show headlined on HBO by the Donaire-Rigondeaux fight," Toka-Kahn's head trainer Peter Manfredo, Sr. noted. "Everybody who's anybody in boxing will be there, so it's very important that Toka looks good. Top Rank has done a great job moving him, keeping him active, and finding the right opponents. Top Rank has two of the best matchmakers in boxing, Bruce Trampler and Brad Goodwin, and, someday, hopefully, they'll be finding the best fighters in the world for Toka.

"Toka's matured a lot and improved the last year, getting better at his trade as he goes along. Now, he's going to body nice, sitting down on his punches, and he has a good body attack."

Kahn-Clary has had four professional fights, excluding a no-contest when he suffered a cut due to an unintentional head-butt in four different states - Nevada, California, New Jersey and Rhode Island - and New York will be his fifth during the first 10 months of his young career.

"Keeping active is very important for a young fighter like me," Kahn-Clary concluded. "Fighting in the ring and the gym are two different things. Even if you're in the gym working hard every day like me, it's not the same as fighting in the ring, and you can get rusty. I'm very happy that I've been so active."

Estrada wins fourth straight fight; KOs Brown in 5th round

'BIG THINGS'  RESULTS FROM PROVIDENCE
PROVIDENCE (November 10, 2012) -- 2004 U.S. Olympian Jason "Big Six" Estrada (20-4, 6 KOs) won his fourth straight fight Saturday night with a fifth-round knockout of veteran heavyweight Galen "Bad Boy" Brown (38-21-1, 23 KOs) at the Rhode Island Convention Center. Estrada-Brown was the main event on the "Big Things" card, presented by Big Six Promotions.

Estrada continued displaying improved punching power, dropping Brown in the fifth, and then finishing him off with a series of stiff punches until the referee halted the action.

"I wanted to get that knockout," Estrada explained why he boxed less than normal. "I need knockouts. I've been sitting down more on my punches like my pops (father/trainer Roland Estrada) has been saying. I put the pressure on him. He was sticking his tongue out and doing other stuff like that, but I banged his body and then caught him. He was trying to hold my head down at the end when I caught him with some good shots. I'm not sure what's next. There's some talk going on and hopefully it'll be a big fight."

Local light welterweight Diego "Lobo" Pereira (8-0-1, 4 KOs) kept his unbeaten record intact, knocking out a game Bryan "The Brick" Abraham (6-15-2, 6 KOs) in the sixth round of the co-feature.

Fighting for the first time in two years, Cape Cod heavyweight Jesse Barboza (5-1-1, 3 KOs) outworked Kevin Franklin (4-6, 1 KO) for a win by four-round decision. In a battle of unbeaten light welterweights, Gabriel Deluc (7-0, 1 KO) won every round against Jair Ramos (3-1-1, 2 KOs) for a unanimous six-round decision. World Series of Boxing graduate Russell "The Haitian Sensation" Lamour (1-0) needed only 62 seconds to stop John Downey (0-2).

Welterweights "Steamin'" Josh Beeman and Carlos Hernandez fought to four-round majority draw. Heavyweight Julian Pollard was impressive in his professional debut, recording a devastating knocking of Johnnie Davis (1-3-1) in the second round.

In a battle between two-debuting Providence middleweights, K.J. Harrison-Lombardi won a unanimous four-round decision over Pubilo Pena. Former Irish National amateur champion Michael McLaughlin (3-1-1), now fighting out of Boston, stopped Robert Brando-Hunt (0-3) in the third round.

2004 U.S. Olympian Jason 'Big Six' Estrada Ready and on call for big shot

Headlines Nov. 10 in Providence
Jason Estrada
2004 U.S. Olympian Jason "Big Six" Estrada

PROVIDENCE (October 26, 2012) - Thirty-one-year-old Jason "Big Six" Estrada (19-4, 5 KOs) has been patiently waiting the past two years for his last shot at the big-time. The 2004 U.S. Olympian, fighting out of Providence, is preparing to headline the November 10th "Big Things" card at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence.

Estrada fights veteran Galen "Bad Boy" Brown (38-20-1, 23 KOs) in the eight-round main event, presented by Big Six Promotions, on the "Big Things" show featuring many of New England's favorite boxers. Estrada has won his last three fights against Alex Gonzales, Dominique Alexander and Joseph Rabotte, while the battle-tested Brown has fought former world champion Hasim Rahman, world title challenger Mariusz Wach, and former Russian titlist Andrey Fedosov.

"I'm trying to work my way back into position for a big fight," Estrada explained. "It's a   lot better staying active instead of just training, which gets boring after a while. I'm hoping to get a call if an opponent falls out in a big fight or if somebody hears my name and he wants a challenge. I'm staying busy. I'm not in a situation where I can call the shots. Guys today pick their opponents, waiting to get a fight against one of the Klitschko brothers."

Today, Estrada is much different from the highly-decorated U.S. amateur boxer who turned professional nearly eight years ago. He has changed his style back to the way it was when he was boxing in the Junior Olympics, plus he's healthier than he's been at any time since his amateur days.

"I sat down with my father (and head trainer Roland Estrada) and we changed my style a lot, back to what it was when I was fighting in the JO's," Estrada said. "When computer scoring came to the amateurs, I had to win points and did that by boxing. It was easy but that style doesn't work in the pros. I made a transition the past two years to sit on my punches and hurt guys. It just took a little time to get there. Everything was new for me when I turned pro.

"I'm healthy now, too. Fighting as a pro, my body hurt all the time. I had elbow, foot and other issues that are all cleared up. I've become more patient, picking my shots better. I learned that boxing is a marathon, not a sprint, and I'm smarter today. I'm only fighting eight, 10 and 12 round fights now.

"I'm not fighting past 35, so the clock's ticking, faster and faster. I'm waiting for my opportunity. It has to come before long. I've been working two years like this, staying busy and ready. Once I get that chance, I'm going to snatch it. I've become a professional fighter."

Unbeaten Pawtucket (RI) junior welterweight Diego Periera (7-0-1, 2 KOs) faces veteran Bryan "The Brick" Abraham (6-14-2, 6 KOs) in the six-round co-feature.

A solid six-round bout has been added to the card matching a pair of unbeaten junior welterweights, Gabriel Deluc (6-0, 1 KO), of Boston, and Waterbury's (CT) Jair Ramos (3-0-1, 2 KOs).

Scheduled to fight on the undercard in four-round bouts are Providence junior welterweight Josh "Bam Bam" Beeman (4-11-3, 2 KOs) vs. Carlos Hernandez(3-2, 2 KOs), Hyannis (MA) heavyweight Jesse Barbosa (4-1-1, 3 KOs) vs. TBA, Hyannis light heavyweight Paul Gonsalves (4-2, 3 KOs) vs. Ahmad Mickens (1-2-1), former Irish National amateur champion Michael McLaughlin (2-1-1), fighting out of Boston, vs. Robert Hunt (0-2), of Hyannis, Providence middleweights Kevin Harrison and Pubilo Pena make their pro debuts fighting each other, Springfield super middleweight Reinaldo Graceski (2-0) vs. Michael Mitchell (0-1), and Portland, Maine middleweight Russell Lamour in his pro debut vs. TBA.

All fights and fighters subject to change.

Tickets, reasonably priced at $40.00, $60.00 and $100.00, are available to purchase by calling Big Six Boston at 1.617.312.5059, Big Six Providence at 1.401.241.3490(RI), going on line at www.bigsixentertainment, com or www.ticketmaster.com, and at the Rhode Island Convention Center box office.

Doors open at 6 p.m. ET with the first bout scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

2008 U.S. Olympian Demetrius Andrade Outclasses Alexis Hlores in Two Rounds

2012 Fight 2 Educate

Results from Manchester, New Hampshire
MANCHESTER, N.H. (September 20, 2012) - World-ranked junior middleweight Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade (18-0, 13 KOs) displayed his entire arsenal tonight, stopping Alexis "Hurricane" Hloris (16-4-2, 12 KOs) in the second round, headlining the11th annual Fight To Educate Pro-Am card at Verizon Wireless Center in Manchester, New Hampshire.

The 24-year-old Andrade, a 2008 U.S. Olympian, dropped Fernandez early in the second round with a straight left and then finished the show with a right hook. Fernandez beat the count but the referee halted the action as the second round ended.

"I wouldn't say I was rusty, just cautious in the first round, feeling him out to see what he had," Andrade said after the fight. "I established my jab. I came out in the second round knowing he had trouble with my jab and left. I put some power and speed behind my punches. I showcased it (his entire arsenal); it looked good and sealed the deal.

"I want (Sergie) Dzinziruk (former WBO champion, 37-1, 27 KOs). His only loss was to the best, Sergio Martinez, and he just had a draw (Jonathan Gonzalez). His name would look good on my resume."

Andrade, fighting out of Providence (RI), is co-promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Banner Promotions. The slick southpaw is ranked No. 4 by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and No. 5 by the World Boxing Organization (WBO), as well as No. 10 by the World Boxing Council (WBC) and No. 15 by the World Boxing Association (WBA).

Undefeated Vermont welterweight Chris Gilbert improved to 5-0 (4 KOs) with a win over Antonio Chaves Fernandez. Gilbert dropped Fernandez midway through the opening round, trapped Fernandez on the ropes in the fourth and ended the fight by way of technical knockout with a powerful right uppercut.

Fight To Educate, presented this year in part by Absolute Broadcasting WGAM, The Game, is a unique charity event that combines a love of sports with the vision of assisting children and seniors in need, who with fundraisers like this could be 'down for the count.' During the past 10 years, Fight To Educate has raised more than $500,000 in donations benefitting local New Hampshire non-profit organizations.

Proceeds from the 11th annual Fight To Educate will benefit SEE Science Center (www.see-sciencecenter.org), The Bobby Stephens Fund for Education (www.stepheneducationfund.com), and New Horizons for New Hampshire.

2008 U.S. Olympian Demetrius Andrade Headlines

MANCHESTER, N.H. (September 7, 2012) - Twenty-year-old junior lightweight prospect Toka Kahn-Clary, fighting out of Providence by way of Liberia, has been added to next Thursday evening's (Sept. 20) 11th annual Fight To Educate Pro-Am boxing card at Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester.

Anothger Providence fighter, undefeated junior middleweight contender Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade (17-0, 12 KOs), a 2008 U.S. Olympian, will be the headliner for the third consecutive year.
